I have had them in everything from 65mm frames to sailfly/primo frames and only had one issue and I turtle mode all the time. Just because you have issues doesn't mean everyone does
@@Tump2010 Sure, it doesn't! He told me himself. Albert King said he's had 4 defectives! Dude, keep up with what's going on in the Facebook groups and EVERY WHERE! Here is what I am looking / hoping to find eventually. The smallest possible drone that can record HD video and still do some resemblance of freestyle flight. For me 1/2 the fun is in the flight and the other half is in watching the HD and making videos out of it to share the experience. The HD quality of the split and the turtle are just not quite there ( mostly due to the low bitrate they use). The tarsier looks a little better. I'm also concerned about the reliability of the current generation of these little guys. I think I would also like one with an option to remove the "ducts" and use larger props to get better performance when flying in locations that don't need them. I know we are not quite there yet, but hopefully someday soon we will be.
Yah know, those are reasonable asks, and what I think I'd want to! I'm not sure if I need HD, but if it does have it, better fly like one without it! 🤔😉
Seems very doable, I would expect some of the smaller frame designers to think of this first. The challenge is likely the quick change of the "whoops/prop guard". They normally mount into the motor, but we used to have them where they would attach directly to the frame, and that might be the direction designers go when they dive into such a thing.
Solid video as always. Man I’d love to see some sort of top 5 list/review of .55lb /250gram freestyle and racing quads. With these new regulations I think a lot more people are gonna be interested in this class of quad.
I have been curious if the new regulations are going to truely stop people from flying above 250grams. Do you have friends that fly? What are they doing? I also do want to revisit a number of items I have had on my mind, hopefully soon as the summer schedule slows down soon.
Hola...no se si aún tengas el beta75x...me podrías indicar dónde podría conseguir los valores de betafligh para su configuración...tengo un problema con el mío vibra demasiado al descender. Mil gracias
Looking forward to this one! Hmm, that seems kind of light on what you get for your $180 dollars. How does it compare to your Mobula HD? As far as your question goes, you are going get just about as many different answers as anything. However, for most, I think you will see people wanting a cinematic cruising quad and many wanting somewhat sporty acrobatic quad. Realistically, a lot of us just want some great clean video and the rest is all icing on the cake, at least for me, that's the ride ticket that I would buy. Great Job again and cheers to a job well done.
The mobula 7 HD has a bit of jello, but much more acrobatic. This the video is very stable, but not so acrobatic.I suspected flight style would vary, hoped to gather input to firm up my suspicions.
Nick Burns - Very good assessment and would agree with Mobula HD being more acrobatic. Although, I haven’t experienced much jello at all. However, I really only run mine on 2S so as to avoid the board issues experienced by some people, but the higher motor speeds at 3S could yield more jello. But that’s just a guess on my part.
Regarding review style, I liked the variety between flying styles. I tend not to do racing, but more acro flips and rolls with the previous reviews didn't cover quiet as well. That being said, powerloops and flips would be welcomed to see if it's something that I would be at all interested in with other quads
I bought this drone with tsb crossfire receiver, but when I fly over 15 feet, I couldn't see anything in goggles, I'm using ev800dm. If you know what's wrong, may you tell me how to fix, thanks so much
Twopups - I was wondering the same. I posted a comment on his Patreon page to see if he was ok, and some others were asking the same thing. I hope he’s ok, kind of miss him and hat of his.
He seemed to taper off with videos, and now that you mention it, he's gone down to nothing for quite a while. Hmmm... Good dude, hope everything ok for Mark and his family. 🤔👌
Hi Nick. Would you still recommend it for a recreational cruiser and some occasional loop or five 😉. Thank you for the video. I'm eyeballing this one for a while now. Just can't decide should I go for it.
I think 35 degrees of camera tilt is best for acro flight. If you want a stable flight you must put the camera at 20-25 degrees and you will have better flight.
Looks like this quad has matured a bit from the first release. I would purchase a quad like this to capture cinematic footage. I would think you’d need to move up to 3” to do freestyle fpv and HD. Also the format of this video was great. I liked it. Thanks Nick!
I’ve only been flying 75mm quads and FPV for 3 weeks. In that time I’ve tried the Mobula7 HD, the Beta 75X and the Spedix Rex80. Loved the HD footage on the Mobula but is was a very difficult craft to live with. Traded it in for a Beta 75X which is a lot of fun but the cam ain’t so great. Will swap it out once it gets destroyed and those fragile canopies not cheap to replace for what they are - eggshells. The Rex80 is a trusty little critter. Simple, robust, dependable and done most of my flying with it. I’ve put almost 40 packs with it and had no issues. The camera is amazing during the day but is a tad sketchy at night. Which leads me back to HD, thinking about another quad - 75X HD, 85X HD or 85X 4K? Won’t consider Eachine as I can’t purchase this model in my neck of the woods which is frick’in stupid. Like to zip around, yet to fly acro but will try soon but also want to capture cinematic footage too. Not so sure the 85X with Tarsier is as good as people think it is. Do I buy 85X HD for stability as 1080p footage is pretty acceptable? Any other options out there for HD whoops?
I think the Tarsier is massively interesting, not even because of the 4K, but the ability to lock white balance and exposure. This makes it actually useful for production work. The only reason I wasn't interested getting one is the claustrophobic FOV - but Caddx has confirmed that wider lenses are on the way. That will make it a *very* nice camera, IMO!
@@vladimircerovic I have also heard they will be releasing new firmware. I don't know, but perhaps that could be one of the things they will address :) Keep an eye out on Albert Kim's channel, I am sure he will show us the differences. And yes; a super wide lens can theoretically make up for massive cropping - but I have no idea yet how wide (and how good) it will be. BTW - I'm talking about Tarsier here because Nick mentioned it ;)
@@vladimircerovic Personally, I prefer native 16:9 with a very wide lens to get enough vertical FOV (and get some additional horizontal FOV for free). Looks way better than that weirdly stretched superview look, IMO... Like watching 4:3 broadcasts on widescreen CRT's back in the day lol
@@vladimircerovic don't give up on it yet - my first comment was about the fact they will soon be releasing wider lenses for it! They seem to be listening to the community, which is kinda cool.
Hi Nick greetings from Greece and thanks for the great videos. I recently got the beta75X HD and I’m having a problem with the camera angle which is at 35 degs. I’m a new pilot and like to fly at low speed going through gaps. This is very difficult with that angle. Do you have any suggestions about altering the cam angle? Thanks again.
We can lower it some, loosen the screws on the side and then wiggle and work the camera down. Its the best we can do unless we start to cut away part of the canopy below the camera, even then I am not sure there is enough head room to rotate down further.
@@NickBurnsFPV 35 degrees is a lot of inclination for a drone of these characteristics. With a soldering iron or with a cutter you can lower the camera angle a little more to 25 degrees which would be much more pleasant to hover ... in acrobatic 35 is fine.
You can make your own ND filters with dark stick on tint film. The only problem is when the lens doesn’t have a flat front, such as the Turtle v2 special/glass lens.
Out of all the woop style drones and toothpick drones what was your favorite . I guess what I'm asking is what's the best drone for the money that you have personally flew out of all them ?
the best flight is the mobula 7 with the version 3 frame, no HD on that one. When we add the weight of the HD components the flight performance descreases pretty fast.
Great testing and attention to detail as usual! Thanks!! First one that looks interesting. But, I’d be going for slow cinematic and then I say, why not just get a Spark? Add a Runcam mini dvr to a Toothpick and you get good video for acrobatic without giving up so much performance. Not sure this hits the sweet spot but it is much closer than what I’ve seen to date.
it flies fine. I really can't say more than that when it comes to only slightly different battery sizes,. When we compare different cell count battery the more cells the more responsive it will be.
It wouldn't hurt. I generally don't on RTF review quads, but only sometimes do on my builds. A Cap can help clean up video when more throttle makes the picture worse, it can also help with tuning some.
How to setup video? How to get video in your goggles? If so, use the auto scan on the goggles to find the proper frequency. Most goggles do a good job of finding the signal.
Impossible to beat the standard Mobula7. It's so cheap and reliable too. Just get the V3 frame, if it doesn't already come with it. It's nearly indestructible! My friends and I all own the Mobula7 and we all think the same thing!... One hell of a fun quad to fly! So nimble, fast, maneuverable, and now super durable with the V3 frame. Best ever! 🤔👏👍
Great, thank you. This has more stable footage, the Mobula 7 HD is more acrobatic, but I have heard of many issues with Mobula 7 HD since its release. I think the board/FC burn out rate has been more than normal for a product.
Blackout? for the rolling video? With the rapidfire module I find I have to wait a bit for it to lock on, and if I go fly to quickly it may have the rolling image or not, roll of the dice. Or I could be way off topic here.
Hellow you fine review man ! Thanks for a great review of the beta 85HD. This has to be the best looking picture than some of the rest as in the jello, but I don't know why they stick a mic on them those little motors are screaming and you can't hear anything else. Anyway, Thanks again for the info . And have a Great weekend.
I find I can control the washout with throttle control. If I get on the throttle at the wrong pace (to slow) it may or may not washout, but the more direct answer is its not 100% washout proof, maybe 80%. I did get the handle of the throttle and found I could regularly dive without issue,
I would need to hold my opinion until I can fly them on different/longer props, I would expect them to perform well, but they low end prop control could be less than desire....need to fly them on hyperlight micro with 65mm or 2.5inch props.
By the way, it was a warm one for both of us today, at 95. However, it is a Friday night and neither one of us has anything better to do than get on UA-cam. Are we quad nerds or what?
95! I find it difficult to cope with temperatures over 23 centigrade (73f) here in the UK, which typically only happens for a week or two in the middle of summer :)
licensetodrive - That kind be of high for us, but not record breaking. People start to freak out when it gets over a 105 Fahrenheit (40.5C) which isn’t much fun with the high humidity levels we have here. However, I moved here from Arizona 33 years ago to get away from that high heat which can be really high. The highest I ever experienced was 129 F (almost 54C) while working for with my Father at the Gila Bend Auxiliary Air Force Base. Your in England, right? Spent the summer of ‘78 in Stockton Heath, England. Love your county and never got over how quickly the weather changes hourly.
@Frank Barajas Yes in England, it's set to be 30C/86F tomorrow here, I'm thankful I got a portable air conditioner in this room to survive it. I can't even imagine going out in 54C/129F, we're just not built for that level of temperature extreme in this country :) You're right about how quickly the weather changes, when I'm planning on going out flying I have to pay close attention to the forecast because even that can change hourly. Still intend to waterproof a micro quad one day so I can go flying whatever the weather.

Interesting, I didn't know they had different lenses coming. Thank you for that information.
@@vladimircerovic I have also heard they will be releasing new firmware. I don't know, but perhaps that could be one of the things they will address :)
Keep an eye out on Albert Kim's channel, I am sure he will show us the differences.
And yes; a super wide lens can theoretically make up for massive cropping - but I have no idea yet how wide (and how good) it will be.
BTW - I'm talking about Tarsier here because Nick mentioned it ;)
@Vladimir Cerovic I really don't know. I am not well versed in those details.
@@NickBurnsFPV
35 degrees is a lot of inclination for a drone of these characteristics.
Good point. I also heard someone was using sunglasses and carving them up to make a turtle ND filter. More time than I have unfortunately.
yes, i have had a fc reset with a hard crash on 5". Camera also went away and came back after power cycle. Seems "normal" :p
Hay Nick I want to buy this I have the jumper t8sg plus can u help me. what do u recommend frsky or dsmx which is easier for bigginner
With that radio you can do either really. The fpv hobby is dominated by frsky
I want to see the humquad toothpick get reviewed. 4s sounds insane but it looked well built
I don't think its out very widely yet.
@@NickBurnsFPV yeah main reason im not pulling the trigger on pre-order. Looks too good to be true
Is this more sturdy then the Mob 7 HD in your opinion? I've literally destroyed two Mob 7 HDs after 2 flights each.
I do, the weak point of the mob7 HD is the canopy, not enough material around the screw holes.
Slow and smooth buddy
Great testing and attention to detail as usual! Thanks!! First one that looks interesting. But, I’d be going for slow cinematic and then I say, why not just get a Spark? Add a Runcam mini dvr to a Toothpick and you get good video for acrobatic without giving up so much performance. Not sure this hits the sweet spot but it is much closer than what I’ve seen to date.
Okay. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts.
is there anyway to mute the audio or tun it off ?
Hi, how does it work with lipo 2s 450mah to fly indoors, greetings
it flies fine. I really can't say more than that when it comes to only slightly different battery sizes,. When we compare different cell count battery the more cells the more responsive it will be.
Hi, do you think we need to put a capasitor on the xt30?
It wouldn't hurt. I generally don't on RTF review quads, but only sometimes do on my builds. A Cap can help clean up video when more throttle makes the picture worse, it can also help with tuning some.
@@NickBurnsFPV cool tks for the reply
Can you post how to setup video please.
I don’t know what to do.
How to setup video? How to get video in your goggles? If so, use the auto scan on the goggles to find the proper frequency. Most goggles do a good job of finding the signal.
How about vtx range, mobula 7 hd x betafpv 75 hd
which you prefer 75X HD or 65X HD. FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR RACE MOOD
I would go 75 for both indoor and outdoor.
Hi. Great video. Are you using stock PID's?
Yes, the pids that come with the quad.
Great review Nick. 👍👍👍👍 I'm looking for slow cinematic flying. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the great video! Can this be flown indoors for a beginner learning and to grow into or do you think this is too powerful?
A new person in a gym or large space, yes, inside a home is going to be much more challenging starting out.
Nick Burns Thank you!
Hi like your videos. What whoop style you would suggest for acro flying ✈ thanks 😀
with HD or no HD?
@@NickBurnsFPV no hd
Impossible to beat the standard Mobula7. It's so cheap and reliable too. Just get the V3 frame, if it doesn't already come with it. It's nearly indestructible! My friends and I all own the Mobula7 and we all think the same thing!...
One hell of a fun quad to fly! So nimble, fast, maneuverable, and now super durable with the V3 frame. Best ever! 🤔👏👍
I would second the mobula 7 with the v3 frame.
Nice channel. You got a sub in me! How would you compare this the the mobula7 HD?
Great, thank you. This has more stable footage, the Mobula 7 HD is more acrobatic, but I have heard of many issues with Mobula 7 HD since its release. I think the board/FC burn out rate has been more than normal for a product.
Great review nick! Are you to going to review the kabab toothpick frame? Plus the hyperlite toothpick motors?
I have some toothpick parts, I need to find time to get caught up and build that little guy. I was waiting for the recommended parts to "finalize".
Nick Burns Thanks nick I can't wait for that review 😁
All the Beta fpv products I've bought have the same camera blackout
Blackout? for the rolling video? With the rapidfire module I find I have to wait a bit for it to lock on, and if I go fly to quickly it may have the rolling image or not, roll of the dice. Or I could be way off topic here.
Hellow you fine review man ! Thanks for a great review of the beta 85HD. This has to be the best looking picture than some of the rest as in the jello, but I don't know why they stick a mic on them those little motors are screaming and you can't hear anything else. Anyway, Thanks again for the info . And have a Great weekend.
Mic. comes with Caddx Turtle V2, but you can unsolder it or just cut the wires in one second! 👍
Yes you can cut it resolder it when you go to a different frames or just turn off the volume.
Hey Nick, it’s Babak - how is this compared to other whoops? Do you still get washout?
I find I can control the washout with throttle control. If I get on the throttle at the wrong pace (to slow) it may or may not washout, but the more direct answer is its not 100% washout proof, maybe 80%. I did get the handle of the throttle and found I could regularly dive without issue,
What would your #one cinawhoop be at this moment for slow cruising/ indoor
I think this, but maybe the 85x HD, the footage on both are very stable (no jello), larger is going to be a bit easier to fly.
Sir, the goggles image is pretty bad, what do you think ?? Or its just because the recording
When we have a single camera/lens that does both our goggle view and "HD" recording, the image isn't nearly as good as a standalone fpv camera.
Hey Nick, nice flying and review.
Did your Caddx Turtle have the glass lens ?
No I don't believe its glass.
@@NickBurnsFPV Ah ok, quality looks good for the standard plastic lens.
I don't like flying out the caddx, can't see clear...I wish they'd figure it out.
I hope we continue to see these cams develop too. The image does look muddy, I think I made it look even worse in this video vs in the googles.
Nice my friend. Are u impressed with the new 1103 8000kv? I love them especially on 3s. I think they are a high quality 1103.
I would need to hold my opinion until I can fly them on different/longer props, I would expect them to perform well, but they low end prop control could be less than desire....need to fly them on hyperlight micro with 65mm or 2.5inch props.
@@NickBurnsFPV I know u and u will love them they are the fastest 1103 motor I have flown on a 65mm prop and on 3s.
You probably ripped into the time space continuum that's why the camera went out.
ha good one.
I got 2 mobula 7 hd... both esc burn
Yuuup!!
I can't even imagine going out in 54C/129F, we're just not built for that level of temperature extreme in this country :)
You're right about how quickly the weather changes, when I'm planning on going out flying I have to pay close attention to the forecast because even that can change hourly. Still intend to waterproof a micro quad one day so I can go flying whatever the weather.
@@licensetodrive9930 - I was fascinated by how quickly the clouds streamed across the sky, from horizon to horizon in a matter of minutes. Have you made the move to sub 250 totally? I see that your drone laws are going to be worse than ours.
@@licensetodrive9930 - After seeing the video of what Andy Sage had to say about Drone Operators in the UK it's looking to be a very hostile environment to fly. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/OuXsm2Q6_Uc/v-deo.html
My dream is a quad of this size that records HD like a Session5, Flies like a 5 inch and has a decent FPV Feed like at least an EOS2. I personally hate the FPV Picture of the Turtle cam..
the turtle and split cams fpv isn't good, I can see where it would change the way we might fly, which is no fun either. I hope they find a way to improve the fpv of the "HD" cams, I think running the tarsier is going to add more weight than its worth, but we shall see.
I don’t consider it a cinewhoop unless it has at least digital video stabilization.
so like a spark or carrying a go pro? Or something else all together?
@@NickBurnsFPV Shendrones squirt carrying a GoPro which has built in stabilization is kinda the OG cinewhoop.
The smaller the better for me 🤷🏻♂️
