I'm sure he would use a tractor if he could afford one. It is nice he didn't want to move to the city and work in a factory or some other job. He wanted to stay in his village. I bet he will live to be very old because he stays active. In Sardinia sheep herders often live to be 100 or more because they never retire. The areas that have the highest number of people over 100 are areas where people stay active, and keep working through their 90s instead of retiring and watching TV all day..
I am terribly sorry for the old man working so hard for five dollars for a block of ice. Then he has to pay for the truck and the driver doesn't even lower the gate for him. Tradition or not, it's a miserable life. Hopefully he gets some real money for the movie from DW.
I'm a similar age, but unable to tolerate the harsh working conditions in which he seems to thrive. Great example of human adaptation and joy in one's chosen profession. However, can someone please *_Crowd-fund a lightweight donkey cart_* (for as little as $50 using local materials) so he can travel the flat roads to market at an easy pace and avoid wasting a huge portion of his earnings on _renting a car & driver_ for Gossakes!
During the day it's typically around 18-20C/65-70F down in the valley and 0-4C/30-40F just below the glaciers. At night, 8-12C/45-55F down in the valley and -5 to -1C / 24-30F just below the glaciers.
maybe it's the exaggerated english pronunciation to try to hide the german accent combined with narration style of 50 years ago, he sounds like he's reading a story from a book
Can anyone let me know what happened to the teeth of the ice man?The report says the ice has healing properties.Perhaps he needs to eat the ice all the time.
Deeply touched by the old man's devotion to tradition.
