The best part is that we have a few companies who are competent and well equipped to manufacture the tanks of required specifications for Indian Army. Once such tanks join the Army, we will also look for exports. Jai Hind!!

Thanks & Best Wishes to both Kalyani & L&T...Light Tank trials & induction must be put on fast track...Kalyani too must put its design for trials by Aug-Sep 2024, so that trials can be completed by March 2025, ordering by Dec 2025 & induction by Sep-Dec 2026...Quality/Technology, Time & Cost, in that order, should be the priority

As per me, these should be the categories
a) Main Battle Tank (Heavy)
Role to provide breakthrough due to its armour & firepower
b) Main Battle Tank (Medium)
These are the T-90s etc which due to its firepower and speed can be used to spearhead attack and get into the enemy lines.
c) Light Tank,
These are as of now would be used at LAC, but I might suggest to also use a different turret like say 105 mm / 57mm gun, or 30mm turret etc which will be Light Tank / Tracked Infantry Support Vehicle, this wont have troop carrying ability, but it can carry the heavy gun & also provide support to say CRPF/BSF units in say militancy infested area.
d) WhAP which is Armoured & troop carrying IFV armed with say 90 mm to 30 mm gun, which is like Wheeled BMP.
e) IFV like BMP which is tracked and troop carrying gun, perhaps there should be an attempt to use low recoil 90 mm gun that could be useful.

These tanks must come with some kind of drone jamming/protection else they will be easy targets to fpv etc drones.
Atleast some of them will also be fine which can move along with others as the truck mounted jammers are non protected and can become first targets.

After development of both these tanks from their respective OEMs, army will order 50 israeli tanks on the name of benchmarking of course and will not order beyond 59 tanks initially committed.
350 light tanks order is minimum no so. ligjt tanks order may go up in minimum 1k light tank .

hope both able to meet armed forces requirements, until locally designed and manufactured (not assebled) system aren't preferred we won't be able to build atma nirbhar bharat. plus if we will be choose these local tanks gov can push these company to do R&D for tank engines for next order which we really need to avoid being dependent on USA or germeny. France Israel and Russia are still find to some extent but never be reliant on Germany UK or USA.

Adani is being accommodated the most by the government. For obvious reasons. In the coming years there might be no competition in the Ports(Air/Sea) sector because of this unfortunately. Total monopoly there.
