I have been battling stage IV breast cancer for 7 years now. After my diagnosis, the only thing on my bucket list was getting a British Shorthair. I ended up with two--a blue and a tabby. They are one of the reasons I have lived so long with my diagnosis.
My aunt had breast cancer and owned a Russian Blue. Every time my aunt had chemo and became nauseous when she came home her cat ("Natasha") would follow her into the bathroom, sit on the sink and wait, and then jump into her lap to give her comfort. My aunt said that her cat instinctively knew when she was depressed/sad and would try and comfort her.
@GaryB-01 I hope you are on the mend. My husband had a brain tumor many years ago and is doing well. We recently adopted an orange kitten from the shelter and he loves to play with our blue named Baby.
My British shorthair is very chill, he is quite vocal, he loves eating and eats whatever he can get, but his tummy doesnt take well everything so we have to be careful that there isnt any spicy left over foods. He eats about 400g per day cats wet foods, grain and sugar free ones. He was fully potty trained from little kitten so he never once had any accident when he came to us. He is so kind with my child and with everyone. He does come to my lap for petting but then leaves to my side after a while. He sleeps in my bed back touching my feet.
I have one. He is very kind, very sweet, affectionate, intelligent..and very beautiful. He never tries to go outside . I’m thinking about getting him a catio for him for outside. He always go in his cat box. He ever scratches the furniture. I’ve also taught him many tricks . He’s lovely. He just likes to chill. In addition, purrs all the time including while at the vet.

My British shorthair is very vocal. He doesn't like sitting on my lap but enjoys petting. He is very playful and energetic. At the beginning he was very picky with food, but now he has learned to eat or less he will have no food. He was kinda addicted to a cat food with sugar so I had to feed him another without sugar. He is extremely intelligent and lovable. If he were a person he'd be doing puzzles. We love him sooo much. We have another cat, a Calico, who keeps him active, otherwise he'd be a complete couch potato.

As an owner of 9 British shorthairs over 20 years, I can attest they are a wonderful breed. It is true they usually don't like to be on your lap. However I have several who gradually warmed up to lying in my lap, some I have now still won't sit on me. Mochi obviously loves being close to you. Brits are cuddly and fun or they can be somewhat aloof. They will come to you when they want affection but may only want to lay by your side. One point, if you buy a purebred Brit, the breeder may suggest you do not let them wander outside. I would suggest this just to keep them safe, regardless of breed but that's due to having some outdoor TNR cats get hit by cars. Brits are wonderful companions and so handsome. Thanks for sharing Mochi on UA-cam 🙂
They are definitely wonderful. I kepe Mochi inside the house apart from letting him in the garden for his own safety. That's great that you owned 9 British Shorthair Cat's. Wow super experienced.

Haha Mochi doesn't disappear. He does sometimes go an hide in the garden but he isn't really hiding, he is exploring. Aww it's awesome how stray cats come to your house.
@@mochitheboy Maybe “hiding” is too strong a word. I meant exploring around the house or in my case the apt. Once they go into that mode, it is often difficult for me to find it since it is a stray that sees me as a “cat butler”. Luckily my place is not that big so eventually I manage to find it in its usual places eg behind the TV cabinet or besides the sofa.

I’m owned by two British Shorthairs. I find they have a strange fascination with the bathroom, enjoy making slutty poses and will sometimes drive you absolutely crazy. They’re worth it though - they’re great cats!
Hahahaha
My boy loves coming into the bathroom when I’m pooping and stands guard 😂😂😂
Je suis bien sûr mon papa ‼️‼️😂💌😻😻
Sadly now um not ,y mum dosent want to 😢😢😢😢
Maybe when you are older.
Have a great day, you can enjoy watching Mochi now.
heb zelf 14 jaar een brits korthaar gehad ik mis hem nog elke dag super kat ook een kater
U should pinch his cheeks. I do that with my cat. He doesn't mind it 🤭
The good part is that it will treat you like a king, the bad part is that it will probably have bad teeth.
Mochi's Teeth are perfect
I wonder does he disappears into the house and how do you find him? I have a stray that loves to come into my apartment for a quick feed and often roams about and if I were to take my eyes off of her she would just disappear.
How old🤍🤍🤍
Nearly 2 I think.

Hi do they pee in random areas? Specifically males?
Yes as kittens.
@@mochitheboy thank you. So when they're adult they stop spraying their urine everywhere?
@@mochitheboy I love cats more than dogs but can't take the smell of their pees and poops lol
