This is a very good teaching! It is one that American churches need to take to heart and start practicing in sincerity, no longer ignoring or doing only out of pretense. For we have not been given a ministry of condemnation but one of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:16-20).
What a beautiful teaching you have chosen to take your leave of this particular program, a message of finding lost sheep so appropriate to you brother Chad. You have played a major role in me finding my way back. You will undoubtedly continue to do so with your new channels of the truth. I have learned that the Bible and history through Hebrew eyes is tragic, redemptive, tormented and uplifting. Their theology is built upon lost greatness at the hands of more powerful enemies, serial enslavement and escape, persecution and perpetual fear of still more. Their explicit "covenant with God" is to pledge their faith on the expectation of divine protection first and foremost from their enemies and enslavers and persecutors. They dream and sing about vengeance in the most graphic and blood chilling imagery. But Jesus with his "new and eternal covenant" unequivocally abrogates this pillar of Hebrew theology with love for thy enemies, letting them steal from you, or assault you and only to turn the other cheek, or offer them your cloak as well. The Bible through Hebrew eyes is one of an expectant warrior messiah who would finally even the score, but they got just the opposite. Jesus anannounced God's new covenant as the new reality for mankind, and that we could not be held back by Hebrew eyes and old traditions. Jesus said it was time to bring Hebrews around to the new covenant if we could, and to abandon the vengeful thinking of the old covenant. Instead, Jesus commanded us to build an entirely new church. That's what I see you as having been building Chad. Studying through Hebrew eyes with you has enabled me to more clearly see the Bible through Christian eyes. Thank you dear brother.
I had gotten behind, but I am watching today. Thank you so much! I have watched, learned, and truly enjoyed each video. I am sure that I will be back again and again to continue to glean from your scholarly work! I did watch through to the end. Thank you again!
Love these, very helpful. I’m starting to learn Biblical Hebrew to better understand the Bible and this is a great please to start. Really looking forward to the new breakdown content, found the Yahweh video fascinating. 🙏🏻
I think it is quite interesting how the entire chapter can be seen as continued, progressive teaching by Jesus. Verses 1-5: physical child presented and then a spiritual comparison is drawn. Verses 6-9: a physical punishment for abuse, followed by another spiritual analogy of how to deal with abuse by a member of the body of Christ. The discussion thus far has been about abuse so severe that it warrants physical or spiritual death. What happens to the lamb that was abused? Pain, fear, confusion, distrust, flight… They run, become lost, in need of recovery and need restoration. Verses 10-11: Lost lambs, angels pleading their case, declaration of Jesus intent to seek (recover) and save (restore). Verses 12-13: recovery operations to find and bring the lamb to safety. Verses 14-20: restoration of a damaged, wounded lamb. Verses 21-35: Jesus doubling down on how serious the whole forgiveness piece is when restoring the lamb. As a matter of fact, the consequences of failing to extend that forgiveness is the same as the guy who committed the crime in the first place. (Compare verses 7-9 to 34-35.) Thank you for what you are doing by sharing Gods word. Blessings to all. Paul ua-cam.com/video/Vfl43srA3wM/v-deo.html A Jesus Hug from Matthew 18
Hey Chad, I appreciate you brother! This helped my heart quite a bit!! What about 1 Corinthians 5:11 -talking about the sexually immoral who claim to be Christians - where it says do not even eat such one?
