If Caufield didn't react, and just skated over to Reimer and tried to hand him his stick, It would have been the best celly in league history. Primeau looked great tonight, Caufield is the focal point when it comes into OT, Matheson 3 point night and looked much better then last few matches, Slafkovsky has chemistry with Caufield, played much better as a team and played close to a full 60, Time to look at moving a goalie, taking too many PIMs, and Anderson is still struggling.
Very good points all...might add that the PP is also still struggling but, then again, that's evidently redundant in that it has variably struggled for more than a decade, regardless of head coach, PP coach, personnel etc. It's incredible, really, if you think about it - from 'meh' to mediocre to woeful to pathetic back to meh and sometimes not bad, even.
There was one year that their 5 on 5 play was so good that to refuse the penalty was the better option (of course, no option exists) and far less demoralizing to the committed but incompetent players trying desperately to succeed in power plays. I don't believe ANY other team in the league has had such a frustrating time with their PP for such a long period.
Anderson is playing well even though he doesn't put up goals.
He retrieves pucks in the corner well and has had many scoring chances. Just doesn't bury them, yet. He'll turn around.
Caufield could easily be a Byng candidate, he isn't a chippy guy at all. All he cares about is scoring goals.
Goal Caufield does it again! Feels good to have Matheson back the way he should be.

As much as I love Caufield, is as much as overtime benefits him. More open ice. Yes he is clutch but the format is in his favour

It's Mickey Redmond, He was a Hab at one point in his hockey career, but he's been a Red Wing announcer for decades. I love to hear him cry when they lose. (I live 10 minutes from Detroit so it's my "home" team) Nothing better than The Habs beating the Wings (except maybe the Leafs lol)

Exciting game🎉 A lot of everything. Could have gone either way. Canadiens showing fortitude after the loss the other night. Holding the Wings to 2 on home ice is very difficult. It goes to say DO NOT commit penalties in OT.

They have got to do something about all the goals being called back 10 minutes after the fact for offside. Nobody wants to see offside goals count, don't get me wrong. But it's getting ridiculous to see the coaches always look down right away after a goal, in the desperate hope that the play was offside. There are only two solutions, either slacken the offside rules or review every single zone entry as quickly as possible and stop the play if it's offside.
I really wanted to see if the wings announcers, especially Redmond would complain about the holding penalty on the goalie in OT. But they didn't show it, so it's my guess they did lol.
I said right from the start that the Wings were scoring (and winning) at an unsustainable rate. Larkin 2 points and DeBrincat 1 point in their last 5 games. And the team is sinking.
Yes 1st line has been dust lately. Kinda sad but still hopeful for the future.
They are a .500 team at best. Yzerman has his plate full of stale hockey players. I don't think they will be Stanley Cup bound until they get rid of Larkin. He is not a good captain.
