Last year, we found your Green Tomato Chutney recipe. It was so good; we went and ordered a box of green tomatoes from our favorite farmer. When I serve it to family and friends, everyone wants the recipe. I have sent so many to your channel for your recipes and videos. THANK YOU!!
Tanya, I came across your easy green tomato chutney recipe in 2020. I have been making it ever since its that good! I got a harvest of 3kg of green tomatoes this year and it made about 12 jars.
i absolutely LOVE your new glasses...you are one stylish gardener...always watch the video of the making of chutney...it truly is the best i've ever tasted...i have a habit (bad or good?) of tweaking recipes but yours is so good, i don't need to change...or add anything...enjoy the Fall/Autumn...my absolute favorite season...
I had to do the same, as it Autumn/Fall here in Australia, and this the first time my tomatoes plants have gone this far (by still having blossoms and green tomatoes on them) It breaks my heart to have to pull them out.😢 So this is why I’m seeing this video to see what I can do with my green tomatoes.
I hope it does help. Green tomatoes have so many tasty uses, but they can of course be ripened indoors. Get yours in before there's any chance of frost :)
Perfect, just what I was looking for with all my green tomatoes here in Illinois. Are you really in Isle of Man ? My dream is to visit for the TT some day. Cheers and Thanks !!
Yes, we are! My partner is from here, and it's my adopted home. The TT is a wild time on the Island! Great atmosphere and lots of bikes, as you can imagine 🙂
Correct your terminology. You can make green tomatoes turn red BUT they do not ripen like those on the vine. According to University of California AG extension - Tomatoes picked green can be made to turn red HOWEVER that tomato will NEVER become as sweet as those allowed to ripen on the vine. The vine is that green tomato's lifeline. It gets all of is sugars and nutrients out of that vine. So once that lifeline is cut, the green tomato stops growing. All that can be done is to make it turn red. Thats why grocery store & restaurant tomatoes taste so un sweet as they all are picked green in the fields. !

Thank you so much, Sarah! 💚
This is perfectly timed. I just pulled off all the tomatoes off my plants today. I’m planning on making my green tomato relish tomorrow.
Fantastic 😁 Glad to help with a few ideas! Ti's the green tomato season for many of us 🍅

What do you think about subbing dates instead of the raisins?
It may be sweeter, but it would be fine. Be aware that you can't taste the raisins in this as raisins. They just add a touch of sweetness.
@@Lovelygreens thanks. I might try adding a little to the recipe I have a lot of dates and am looking for different uses. I like your recipe as it is.
