I think the issue is that these cars have appreciated a lot in value and are now like 500K. Plus I feel like hoovies channel is more about keeping it a little "realistically achievable" for it's viewers so I don't think this would be a fit in that way. The SLS isn't my favorite car either, but I get why it would fit his channel.
@@stephans1990 no they go for 220k at dealerships, I could imagine the cheapest in America could be like 180k which is in the same ballpark as the other 2. But alot more SLT and gt40s were made than McLaren's in fact with only 1000 SLR McLaren's produced period between 2 years, Bugatti has produced roughly 2.5x as many veyrons and even more chirons, this is a very rare car and will most likely appreciate given it used to be the fastest and is a Mercedes McLaren shared nameplate.
Plus, he factors in a different revenue stream. He “lost” some money on the car, but he is able to depreciate the vehicle itself, expense repairs to some degree, but he made all of that up plus more via advertising and UA-cam revenue. I’m certain it is a net sum gain for him.

I would go with the SLS AMG - last of the naturally aspirated 6.2 V8 engines. The SLR McLaren might be a good buy too, but not nearly as good looking as the SLS.
McLaren SLR. I followed a factory fresh one from Woking, where they were made, to Guildford. A gorgeous car and will most likely appreciate in value. I recall Clarkson stating, "At full chat it can empty its fuel tank in 20 minutes." Don't do the Ford GT, great car but Doug DeMuro has one and Clarkson has had one, so they're a bit "common"

You should probably avoid the McMerc; parts are insane. Something like $40k for new brakes, $20k for an axle. Its got Merc and Mclaren markup, then doubled just for good measure.

The story goes, the nearest dealer was a 3 hour drive away, my grandfather got in an argument with the dealership about getting it fixed at a local repair shop. That didn't work out so he just parked it in the garage and got another car. It sat there under a cover, inside a garage until the 90s. I really wanted it but didn't have a good place to keep it until I was out of college. Grandma ended up selling it right before I was ready. She got totally conned too. If memory serves, she sold it for $700.

The SLS is one of my favorite cars of all time. I was also in Germany around that time and spent time on the Nurburgring in one and that really cemented my love for it. That being said I think the SLR or Ford GT are a little more you. Any of those are great options though!

SLS I'd say, heritage being based off the 300SL but if you ever were not a fan of the gull wing doors (which I know that car is mostly known for but to each its own) you can get the convertable with normal doors. Or the SLS black edition if you really wanna go Big Forgot there was an electric SLS also
I just did a bit of research and discovered real story behind SLS which is really interesting. In early 00' Chrysler developed a completely new Dodge Viper. However, Mercedes-Benz was fed up with Chrysler loosing cash, so they took it from them to create the SLS AMG and told them to do a deep restyling of an old model instead (for 2003). It's true you can look it up. I find it fascinating that SLS is really a... Dodge. I always thought that similarity when it comes to proportions is just a coincidence, yet it isn't. You should get it.

SLS I'd say, heritage being based off the 300SL but if you ever were not a fan of the gull wing doors (which I know that car is mostly known for but to each its own) you can get the convertable with normal doors. Or the SLS black edition if you really wanna go Big

I just did a bit of research and discovered real story behind SLS which is really interesting. In early 00' Chrysler developed a completely new Dodge Viper. However, Mercedes-Benz was fed up with Chrysler loosing cash, so they took it from them to create the SLS AMG and told them to do a deep restyling of an old model instead (for 2003). It's true you can look it up. I find it fascinating that SLS is really a... Dodge. I always thought that similarity when it comes to proportions is just a coincidence, yet it isn't. You should get it.
SLS AMG. Manny have 6 SLR’s, Doug have a Ford GT, but nobody has a SLS AMG from that year.
