    I use organic tangerine peels and cut them into little cubes which I leave to dry on my radiator over night. When I make pancakes I always add a spoonful of these peels into the dough. The peels are not bitter at all but have a nice fruity flavour.

    I think its better to wash the orange fruit well with salt and vinegar before peeling it and then wash and soak the peel after with salt, doing this limits the absorption of any pesticide left from the first wash.

    What a fantastic idea! I love how you found a way to turn something we normally toss into something useful and comforting. The addition of ginger is brilliant for warmth, and I love how natural and simple it is. This is exactly the kind of recipe I’ll be using during winter, especially with the change in weather. It feels good to know that I’m creating something beneficial from something that would’ve otherwise been wasted. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tip! 😊

    I use the orange peels to make my own cleaner. Fill a jar with orange peel and then top up with vinegar and leave for 6 weeks and you have a cleaner for every cleaning job in your home. This even cleans dirty ovens.

    This is such a smart way to use orange peels instead of tossing them! Love how they took the time to properly clean the peels with salt water first - that's a detail most people skip. The combination with ginger sounds super warming and cozy for winter, plus it's all natural. So much better than buying expensive teas from the store. Definitely keeping this recipe for cold season - seems like it would be perfect for soothing a sore throat too. Thanks for showing all the little steps clearly, especially about not burning the peels while stir-frying them!

    • @topdiy707
      @topdiy707  18 днів тому +1

    • @wolfmangoland7972
      @wolfmangoland7972 16 днів тому

      Most pesticides are complex organic molecules that aren't very heat-stable. To reliably break down all pesticide molecules, temperatures would likely need to be well over 100° C for a prolonged period of time. 8 to 10 minutes of roasting these peels will definitely remove common pesticides.

    Those are satsumas, not oranges! Oranges and their peels have a very different flavour and texture.

      @@topdiy707yeah, they mean citrus fruit, but don't know the correct word or name for each type of those. I was born and grew up where these (and oranges and lemons) are grown in Southern Africa. These are indeed NOT oranges. Oranges are much much bigger and the peels are not this deeply orange. But they are both citrus fruit.

    Actually you should have soaked the oranges in salt and baking soda. After that wash it under running water and only then you peel and dry it.
