How Omaha has changed since I left twenty years ago. I miss some of old land marks, but memorial park has always been a doper park at night, since I was a kid growing up. thanks for the walking through semi-memory lane. Evan
Hey Fairypixie, thanks for the video, I lived in Elkhorn when it was little more than a village in the early 80's - the days when Westroads was the major shopping mall - and then moved into the city onto Davenport St - 3570.... Great to see the place again - I was last there in 1986. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Best wishes from a resident of both London and Brussels! xx
Believe it or not, I'm crying right now. My dad used to live here when he was in the military and I would visit him very summer and winter break when I was a kid. I had my best years there. That's why I miss it so much. He doesn't live there anymore, but I remember everything, expecially the Youth Center (don't know if you've heard of it before) but, yeah, I really miss Omaha to death, but I know I'll never be able to enjoy those days again when I was a happy kid.
Also, i'm really excited because i think i get to go back to San Fran in May. I really did like a lot of things about San Fran. My favorite thing was the buildings i love the architecture of the buildings in San Fran. I wish there were more beautiful buildings in Omaha. What made you move there?
Great Video! My 94 year old Grandmother lives in Missouri Valley,IA,25 miles north of Omaha. I am very familiar with Omaha and love it! Lots to see and do.
West dodge has no traffic lights. 680 has more than three lanes and can be very congested. I have been on many NYC-NJ freeways (like I-80 into jersey) during rush hour from airports and other Manhattan locations--it wasn't very far from being like a Midwestern metro area, just different rules and organization.
Rush hour traffic on Dodge street, for example, stops multiple times for several minutes.... Not to mention other roads and highways through it that are congested. I have been to LA, the traffic is similar indeed. Chicago also sucked. So did Denver.
Woo, Omaha!! I don't live in the city, but I love it, none the less. You can still see the Woodman and the National Bank towers from the top of my street. Love Omaha!!!
i've lived there all my life too, and i plan on re-visiting the zoo on it's own. The zoo doesn't deserve little credits in an omaha video, it deserves it's own video shining in all it's splendor. anyway, i went around the parts of town i frequent. i wasn't really trying to be spectacular with this video at the time... i wanted to work on my editing skills really.
i live in Westside area and i go to wms. I wish you could have spent more time in the downtown area like old market. u spent like 2 min. in Westgate. I know you live there an everything, but Westgate or Old Market, which one is better? I am sorry but i have to with the historic old market.
i'm sort of out of work right now and I received a job offer to go to Elliot aviation in Omaha Nebraska. Cheking out your video and it looks cool... I would be moving from Wichita KS
Sioux Falls, a city less than half the size of Omaha metro area, is nearly 70 square miles. Omaha is 180 square miles, not sure what the larger metro area is in square miles.
NIce vid. Oh hell what am i saying great vid because it was about one of the best city around the good old BIG O! I cant say any thing bad about Omaha.
Love Nebraska! I don't live in Omaha, I live outside of it in LaVista. lol Not all is wheat feilds but I used to be walking destance but all of that is being replaced by houses and walmart.
Top tunes i would have chosen them to take you round my hometown of Liverpool but i dont have a video cam, haha i could get one off our shifty if i was desperate i suppose...
I love Omaha and I haoppen to live in North O and I think people judge it too harshly I've never been shot at or even in a dangerous situation in this part of town.
i actually live in omaha, and i barely ever see cornstalks. the only time i see corn is in the grocery store. and i know it's not what comes to mind when talking about america, but that wasn't the point of this video. the point was, there is a city out in the middle of these farmlands, and we deserve a little bit of positive recognition once and awhile. thats all.
Hey Miley...I'm from Omaha but I had to get out after it started becoming more dangerous to live there. I live about 15 minutes from the big O now, just north of CB, but I can tell that the crime rate is getting worse over there and it makes me wonder how long it's gonna be until it spreads across the river like an infection. Don't get me wrong though...It makes me sad to see the cancer getting worse. Thankfully, there's still a lot of decent/cool people still around. It's the way of the world.
Like the vid, Omaha looks nice too, not too busy, I live between Liverpool where the beatles came from and Manchester, Oasis. 20 mins from each. I prefer Liverpool out of the 2, the people are lots more friendly and theres loads to see and do.
barahona talks about traffic like it's a GOOD thing. and omaha is not good because there isn't horrible traffic. personally, the lack of traffic is a POSITIVE thing about the omaha area.
did you move within the year? i had a friend who was the same as you, she hated omaha, moved out to LA, loved it, but came home a year later because she missed omaha. she currently regrets her ill feelings toward omaha. i find most people come back. but i think its good to go away if thats what you need/want.
Girl great job at representing omaha, nebraska way to go....though I would have put Westside HS as Hollywood High....(Nick Nolte, 311, Pete Ricketts) but anyways great job
WOW That's harsh! lol But true. I grew up in Omaha, and north O's always been a bad place to be. I'm sure that New York City is worse but Omaha is catching up. I got tired of hearing about all the crime on the news every night. I'm NOT racist & I DON'T like to stereotype people but there's definately more violence in that area & it's been spreading outward. it was getting so bad that I got my family "the hell out of Dodge" and moved across the river 10 min north of Council Bluffs (Iowa) in 2007.
the part around the zoo is. i have no idea where Andy's bar is though, but i know i filmed from the zoo up until the bridge in South High area, so i assume it is.
The Beatles are classic! that, and i'm practically obsessed with them. And whats wrong with John Lennon?! but i do like your classical suggestions, but i unfortunately do not own any songs of theirs which is truely tragic.
Hi ! NIce video ! i miss Omaha, lived there for 6 months oct/2007 to march/2008 and loved it ! I got a couple videos myself, check them. All the best. ADRIAN - Brazil
the girl that filmed this didnt think anyone would watch this. she would've shown the better qualities of Omaha if she did. she was just trying to hone her editing skills and used Omaha as the topic of the video.
hahah where all the potheads smoke. hahaha this is not the omaha i see everyday. i live out west. 156th and dodge-ish. it's a lot less exciting out here. but omaha in summer is the besttt. and the college worlds series. [[even thought we're getting a new stadium and no one wants it]] cool vid, mannn. =]
omg i hate village pointe. except for scheels. and like 3 other stores. but village pointe sucks. it gets reallyyy boring fast. and i don't understand why they put an outdoor mall in omaha because it gets down to like 0 degrees in the winter, with a ton of snow, like it is now, and they must loose a lot of money. but whatever. that's just me.
im not entirely sure what you mean by your comment. are there other videos where typical normal omaha girls take up the whole screen? i'd like to see them. also, i've stated several times that i made this video so i could see if i could make my own version of LisaNova's "Summer's going to be hot and im excited" video. if you watch that video, LisaNova is in practically every frame of that video, i'm only in a few shots of this one.
Seriously they freaK me out its like they are cloned i agree but as far as the rest of omaha expecially downtown ang central or midtown they have alot of character
Sorry for the confusion - I don't mean the author, I mean the person who said you'd get killer in North O and that the highlights of Omaha are in the wastelands of West O - UGGHHH, what, the Malls???? Or are the McDonalds better out there?
nope. actually i made the video because i wanted to see if i could do my own version of Lisa Nova's "Summer is Going To Be Hot and I'm Excited" video. For some reason people really took to it, and i have no idea why.
well, had i known this video would be widely viewed by like, everyone, i probably would have. at the time, i was just trying to make a video similiar to LisaNova's "This Summer Is Going To Be Hot & I'm Excited".
i kind of take offence at this comment. i understand what you are trying to get across, but what you have to understand is that the places you mentioned are tourist friendly. Omaha is not a tourist city. It's home. There are good things about living in a smaller metropolis. That was kind of the point of this video. Just because my state is one of the least popular and least known about, doesn't mean that we are aliens. We travel just like everyone else, but we go home to Nebraska.
thats not true. i go to the movies, i go to restaurants. i go shopping. i go to the zoo. i go downtown. I took a trip to San Fran a few years ago and most of what i did was touristy things. If i lived there, i would probably do the same things as in omaha. i'd go to the movies, shop, eat out.
At least i'm confident enough with myself to put a video out on the internet. I see you're not secure enough with yourself to do the same. You're username is kind of a misnomer, as true Huskers would NEVER treat their fellow Huskers with such utter disrespect.
omaha is great if you live around downtown or dundee, but the rest is either ghetto or ugly suburban sprawl. there are a few exceptions to this, but they are rare.
I agree omaha can be really nice most of west omaha is nice but the houses that all look the same are nice but they are soo boring and I live in dundee and It ROXS so All of you people who hate omaha you dont live here so you wouldnt Know!!!!!
...why wont you touch it just because its in Nebraska? Would it matter if it was anywhere else? I dont think it should. Omaha itself is a nice city and should not have to be dragged down with the rest of the state simply because it lies within its borders.
really? i actually quite enjoy living in west omaha. actually, everything from 72nd on. but i agree about one thing... omaha needs some better architecture. its super boring.
west omaha is boring in it's architecture. it doesn't have any character. everything looks the same out there. i didn't say it was ghetto... well, at least most of it isn't. i just don't enjoy omaha if i go west of 72nd street. there is nothing out there that i want to see.
Terrible representation of Omaha. Anyone who sees this will immediately shrug it off because of how simply lame it is. I mean come on, walking around in a parking lot with the camera to your face and the wind blowing? Get a camera-man and learn come cinematography.
This was great! I'm Omaha and I moved to Italy 7 years ago. I appreciate this little tour! Thanks!
I lived Omaha for 12 years. I miss Omaha. Thanks you so much for posting the video.
How Omaha has changed since I left twenty years ago. I miss some of old land marks, but memorial park has always been a doper park at night, since I was a kid growing up. thanks for the walking through semi-memory lane.

i just recently moved away from Omaha cause of military :(
thanks for posting vids of my favorite city
it makes home show up on my computer screen
:)

i have! i love Village Pointe... except for the fact that it's like a million miles away.
I'm from Omaha, and I'm familar with Bellevue too...Where are you living now Kotraquin? It's always cool to meet other people from my home town.
thanks from an Italian that spent two years in Omaha, in the middle '90s
Woo, Omaha!! I don't live in the city, but I love it, none the less. You can still see the Woodman and the National Bank towers from the top of my street. Love Omaha!!!

ooh! i'd love to have a tour of Liverpool! you should buy a digital camera with a video cam function. thats all i use.
im not going to lie... millard freaks me out. i get so lost everytime i try to go down there! but someday i'll learn.
i'm sort of out of work right now and I received a job offer to go to Elliot aviation in Omaha Nebraska. Cheking out your video and it looks cool... I would be moving from Wichita KS

im proud to live in omaha :)
barahona talks about traffic like it's a GOOD thing. and omaha is not good because there isn't horrible traffic. personally, the lack of traffic is a POSITIVE thing about the omaha area.
Where are the farmers ?
i wish we did... it's actually San Diego. But our zoo is one of the top five biggest zoos in the US.
ooh, i hate those neighborhoods where every house is the same. they freak me out. i call them "clone villages" creepy.
lol right, and things that lack as much as here, suck
it doesn't suck... it just... lacks... stuff. :)
did you move within the year? i had a friend who was the same as you, she hated omaha, moved out to LA, loved it, but came home a year later because she missed omaha. she currently regrets her ill feelings toward omaha. i find most people come back. but i think its good to go away if thats what you need/want.
im in a bellevue suburbira
Girl great job at representing omaha, nebraska way to go....though I would have put Westside HS as Hollywood High....(Nick Nolte, 311, Pete Ricketts) but anyways great job
i decided to keep this "PG". lol. thanks for the tips.
Omaha RULEZ!
FREEZING. we're barely surviving. I'M barely surviving.
yep. none of her other videos get looked at.
very good video
i can deal with you thinking that my depiction of omaha was lame, but the songs are classics. it's the beatles for crying out loud!
ahh, Omaha. well, parts of it. i'm a 66 kid too, so that's my neighborhood! very cool.
:) your welcome. i wish it was more detailed, but eh. it's a nice start right?
did i do a good job representing? :) thanks for the comment!
WOW That's harsh! lol But true. I grew up in Omaha, and north O's always been a bad place to be. I'm sure that New York City is worse but Omaha is catching up. why you aint go to the hood to like Hilltop or Bottoms
the part around the zoo is. i have no idea where Andy's bar is though, but i know i filmed from the zoo up until the bridge in South High area, so i assume it is.
Thanks for the wonderful tour of my hometown ms pix.
Was that Kountze that looked like twin towers? happy trails.
The Beatles are classic! that, and i'm practically obsessed with them. And whats wrong with John Lennon?!
but i do like your classical suggestions, but i unfortunately do not own any songs of theirs which is truely tragic.
hey i go to westside =]
Omaha
Aksarben is now a dirt pit
not in my usual route. sorry!

which is sad, i mean. =]
Just ignore trash like that.
which song? i used like 3. all were The Beatles songs. i have them in the description.
nope. actually i made the video because i wanted to see if i could do my own version of Lisa Nova's "Summer is Going To Be Hot and I'm Excited" video. For some reason people really took to it, and i have no idea why.
interesting question considering the whole video is about proving how there ARENT farmers in omaha.
haha people arguing if there is corn in Omaha. Omaha is the classic midwest metropolis: F'n Massive, tons of car traffic. And no corn.
you can message me your questions or, post them in a comment.
hahaa... no, you saw the Desert Dome at the zoo. :)
wow, THAT'S something to be proud of. southern california is lame.
well, had i known this video would be widely viewed by like, everyone, i probably would have. at the time, i was just trying to make a video similiar to LisaNova's "This Summer Is Going To Be Hot & I'm Excited".
Omaha doesn't hold a candle to Pittsburgh! I've eaten way better steaks in Pitts than Omaha!
omg id like to apologize for all of the comments my profile was being used by my friend. again im sorry
You shoudlve gone to west omaha. Rich part U would also have fun in nroth o gettin hshot at hahaha.
