The toughness and stamina of these horses is simply amazing!
What a brilliant advert for the quality of National Hunt racing , top class horses, jockeys, trainers, stable staff of all levels and of course 'proper' supporters of this wonderful sport.
Al Boum Photo my baby you WON
Great racing this year. Smashing finishes.
Hard to believe this was the last day that crowds were at the races. It seems ages ago but hopefully Cheltenham 2022 will see the grandstands packed again. There really is nothing like the Cheltenham roar and the view of the crowded stands.
The hill just caught lostintranslation out...this horse is such a slick jumper
Stronger jockey wins on Santini as was done between last two and switched after the last. Not a huge De Boinville fan and did nothing to change that today. Fair play to Townsend for the ride he gave the winner.
Exactly what I said a top jockey would have had the horse in a better position all race and especially coming to the last two fences, same goes for Richard Johnson and the shit ride he gave earlier in the day, for some reason Irish jockeys always seem to position themselves in the right place especially in the big races.
@@sportsglobal9527 Geraghty wins on that all day long as stronger on the horse and would have had it placed to win and would have gone for it with power on the run in as the horse was finding all the way to the line.
Between the last two "the gap" was travelling faster than Santini.
Al boum photo what a horse, valiant effort from Santini
All ready on Real Steel for the King George, ran a great race considering he'd never been above 2m 5f just didn't get home. Loved the way he travelled and jumped fantastic.
and me.
Unlucky 😂
He could run well in the king george.im on monalee hoping he acts around kempton.
Monalee myself. Good vibes 👍
dont think he will be able to come from back of KG and win, no chance he wins now either, nicholls would not allow it, and jockey booking also a negative, EW bet ofc but if he wins i'll quit forever.
What a ride what a horse what a trainer, best gold cup in a good while in my opinion.
Bit of a dawdle in my opinion.
Think you'll see many great horses moving forward especially front 3 santini next year could be the bet
The commentary makes it even more exciting. Ohhhhh allllll boooouuummmm phoootooooo.
Rachael Blackmore & Monalee were fantastic. Got bumped by Nico on the bend. Great race. Great sport 👏
Do it again this year for me 🤞
if anyone deserves his moment in the spotlight its Paul Townend. He was my go to man on Sunday in Eire but now he rides the favs! To run in 2 GC is an achievement to win 2 puts him with the greats like Golden Miller and Kauto Star.
booting ABP out at the last means he's dead to me.
Not a vintage gold cup, only came to life two fences out, but congrats to winning connections for back to back wins. I think the second horse has a bright future ahead ....🙂🙂
Sensible comment my friend compared to some of the dick heads on here.
God I just love Santini
Santini very unlucky in running but still ran a hell of a race in my opinion but might win it next year 👍
@SBA 81 I think having to check after the last cost him very unfortunate for Nico he will be kicking himself. Best stayer was second
Nico put the horse in the wrong place all race, if that had off been a top jockey riding it it would off def won.
Twice he had to switch, cost him vital momentum. Surely would have won.
SBA 81 the winner did a lot more running than the runner up coming on the wide outside most of way
@@sportsglobal9527 The horse just stays. He wasnt quick enough to hold any better position throughout the race. That's why he lost his place on the bend turning for home.
Hope I'll be there in few years adore horses 😀
Absence of Native River meant that this Gold Cup ended up a bit of a sprint. If they stay sound Nicky Henderson has 2 strong stayers in Champ and Santini for next years Gold Cup and he should consider putting in a pacemaker to ensure a strong gallop.
Does NH have a dodgy ticker?
A great race lostintranslation what a run a great winner though
Quality Race, had Lost in T.... each way so no loss.....over all a good Cheltenham for me.
Both Presenting Percy and Davy Russell got up and walked away...thankfully
My first gold cup and wot a race
One of the best race ever!
What 2 years for willie Mullins from Carlos 62nds in the gold cup now he has had 2 back to back with album photo and paul Townsend what a team shame for tiger roll what a horse and sorry for presenting percy
what does everyone reckon to this treble for next year then Goshen Champion hurdle 6/1, Chacun Pour Soi Champion Chase 6/1 and Champ for the Gold Cup 14/1...734/1 treble worth a go?
Champs jumping would have to improve tremendously
John Oconnell was so gutted topofthegame didn’t run this year had a massive ante post acca with him in that blew out. Could have a huge chance next year if fit.
What an absolute stormer of a race, Santini is a really unlucky horse! Nothing went his way and he flew up that hill! Next year will be redemption day!!
That jump 6 out for Al Boum was absolutely amazing
Makes me wonder why there aren't more 3 mile flat races. There's the Queen Alexandra at Ascot and the Jericho Cup at Warrnambool in Australia.
Had £60 on santini gutted well done Al boum photo, great commentary
Hahahaha
@@William91W go away ya steemer aw don't tell me u backed the favourite easy way out
@@stuartmc6377 hahahahahahhahaha
I'm confident Presenting Percy would have won this Gold Cup had he not fallen.. He would have had the better of Monalee and look how close he got to the winner.
I had clan des obeax but happy Mullins won
Was Presenting Percy ok? That looked nasty.
He's ok
Thought Davy should have got him into it much earlier
Dead
Is it looked bad?
I was there and he was unsaddled and lead back in looking absolutely fine just a bit tired. He walked about 5 feet away from me not even a limp
Al Boum leeeeeeedge
Great ride by paul
Lost in translation is a good bet today at 66/1
Great race taking nothing away from the winner but Santini and Nico were very unlucky hopefully he will win it next year 🤞
Unlucky to lack tactical speed?
It does take something away from the deserved winner when a few people on the comment section are saying what you are saying
@@christopherthomas5333 everyone's entitled to there own opinion the way nico had to switch Santini out wide jumping the last just proves what a horse he is yo only get beat by a neck like i said taking nothing away from the winner all credit to him
@@eddiejackson4470 the best horse won. Santini had to switch because he lacked the tactical speed to go through the middle. He is a serious horse but marginally not the best today but I just don't think he was an unlucky loser. Anyway like you said game of opinions. All the best.
@@eddiejackson4470 and if Al Boum Photo had of jumped every fence better he would of won easy..he jumped poorly until the last 4. See how that works?
Sorry but the difference between the first and second was the jockey Paul Townsend put his horse in the best possible position to win the race nico did the exact opposite.
Most of the seasons form stood up pretty well there I thought.
Presenting percy staying on would have been interesting
Lmao shut up
Yup I said yuppppp!!!
Santini the one to take out the race nothing went his way. Slow pace and having to switch twice in the home straight
Al Boum always. Only if he made a mistake
@Tommy Dunne no, horse was just too slow to keep a decent position and then stayed on better than the rest. al boum photo travelled further all the way round as well, stop talking out of your pocket
Too slow to keep a decent position Santani!
@Tommy Dunne Rubbish if he was as bad as you claim don't you think that Nicky Henderson would not employ him!!
2 years in a row
There's nothing like the Gold Cup. The Grand National is great, but it just doesn't have the quality of horse. Amazing parity in this renewal too. Perhaps only Elegant Escape was outclassed. I'm big on Champ for '21, and friends call me nuts for saying that. But we'll see.
Thank you Paul Townsend Willie Mullins and al bhoum photo...I was homeless today with 600 saved sleeping on the streets of dublin...as im 2 years clean of heroin..and the council had nowhere to put me.....so I slept on the streets to keep myself safe...away from other addicts..anyhooo I couldn't resist putting my 600 on al bhoum photo and got back 2600...now im in an appartment thanks to all you guys..thank you again Paul and willie..yup yup
Your homeless and put 600 pound on a horse and then after it wins at 3.30pm you are able to not only find an apartment but come up with the deposit and also references and contact the landlord and everything set up in two hours, you my friend are a genius and also an original bullshitter.
@@sportsglobal9527 hey u doing pal..this isn't a war of words...IM 2 YEARS CLEAN. @@sportsglobal9527 ps..10/3 x 600 equals 2600..plenty of change too
If Champ can somehow avoid disaster next year, he's got a shot.
Al boum must have gone a furlong further than the rest as he was wide for much of the race
Santini had to pull back and move inside the winner , then pull back again and pull inside the third and finished fastest of all.
Santini was slightly checked at 6:45 and had to switch to the outside of the two leaders. That may have cost him the race.
There's not really a standout staying chaser at the moment, this lot wouldn't have stood a chance against the likes of Kauto Star, Denman, or more recently Don Cossack. I'm hoping one will emerge next season, and that one could be the other Cheltenham winner this year Champ.
Santani wasn’t unlucky , he had to switch because he couldn’t handle the last 2 jumps as well as winner - he was given exactly the same ride as the winner but ultimately he wasn’t good enough. Personally I think the winner did it the hard way and possibly hit the front a little too early. He was a target and just got away with it - others may say it was perfect ride.
..great festival but I dont like all these French named horses dominating the fields....cant they translate them into english...it gets really confusing....
Oui oui, un oeuf is un oeuf!
i want al bloom photos babies
monnalee runs like paula radcliffe
Lost in translation just needed that bit of fitness
I love Cheltenham its the best racing festival in the world but am thinking it shoulda been halted cause of con19 but it was to much for the treasury to lose down on Westminster i backed the winner as i have the past 2 years but still say it should not went ahead
@BOB THE BUILDER Tiger Roll what a horse
@BOB THE BUILDERWell put sir,to be honest I thot he was over priced at 9/2 aswell,I would have had him down at 7s or 8s but I got proved wrong..I thot he would obviously handle the course well and would have been placed... Well done Tiger Roll
@BOB THE BUILDER and I got a few unexpected quid in my wallet 👍
Best Jockeys in the world are Irish.
Tory boy cost santini
Coronavirus meet-up????
Definitely, should of been cancelled but that’s greed for you , couldn’t bear to lose out the bookmakers .
Yep, greed.
If he wins next year, watch the idiots say he he’s a better horse than Kauto Star. Like they do with Best Mate.
All.bhoum photo some horse
Should've been cancelled. Heard they stopped taking odds on the chance of the community spread of COVID-19 at the event.
Maybe still can be held, but behind closed doors.
Maybe still can be held, but behind closed doors.
Delta work wud have won if he jumped better
Delta work would of won if he passed the post first.
If my nan had wheels she would’ve been a bike it has a no relevance to the race
Man this horse is 8 yo !!!!!!!!!!????.... wtf?
Lost In Translation next years gold cup 👀
tizzard has had an awful cheltenham; if the yard had been in better order, lostintranslation would have won easily; i'm not sure aintree will be on, but it would be nice to see him out again.
ps, native river, who finished 3rd the year before he won, would have made the race very interesting if he had run.
all the best.
james richards i backed LIT before the king George for this race but apparently Tizzard said hes been targeting next years gold cup not this one. His jumping his immense got a lot of talent before. Why did native river not run?
thanks for your comments; native river was pulled out a couple of weeks ago because of an injury, i believe, although i'm not sure what it was; hopefully it is not a career ending injury.
@@jamesrichards3183 How can you make that claim lol
james richards tendon injury
What a great idea to have 67,500 horse racing enthusiasts all together for the March 2020 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The Covid 19 virus must have wondered who was organising this fiasco.
