Making a lightweight cup/cook pot from an aluminum can.

If you have a file on your multi tool or have one as part of your sharpening kit, you can easily and safely remove the top of any aluminum can. This affords better access to the can and allows you to use the can as a cook pot or to boil water/drink out of.

I don't even know where I saw or got that idea originally. I just remember going camping and we forgot all of the drinking glasses but I had an empty beer or soda can and a file in the toolbox. The rest, as they say, is history. Thank you for the comment!

I'm going to have to think about that. I usually just use this hack when I'm warm weather camping. Have not considered using it for hot beverages. Thank you for the suggestion!

If you don’t have a file, a flat rock or concrete will similarly remove the top.
