Emojis and emoticons are a normal part of everyday communication, but that doesn’t mean everyone interprets emojis the same way. This 😊 means “I’m happy” to some while others might think you sending this 😡 would have been more accurate about how you really feel. What’s an employer to do when this seemingly harmless form of communication is found to be offensive in the workplace?
