The fact that the guys that broadcast the NHL in Canada gives a tribute to someone who called NHL games in the US, tells you of how big his legacy is. Thank you for everything Doc. #ThankYouDoc
That’s because he loves Crosby. Guy was straight garbage except for new fans who have no concept of hockey. He was a Pens homer and it always showed
@@PhillyLeotardo25 emerick?
@@PhillyLeotardo25 Pens Homer? You could say that about the Devils since before NBC he was main Devils commentator but Pens? Only an idiot would say something like that
@@PhillyLeotardo25 That is a such a garbage take.
@@PolishCarbon he is a huge Pens fan and yes he supported Devils just watching 2012 ECF to show off homerism. Good riddance and if he was any good he would be doing Canadian broadcasts
Mike "HIT THE POST WITH THE SHOT" Emrick
What a legend. That Henrique call should've been #1 without a doubt
I was thinking the same thing. That's my favorite call of his and I'm not a Devils fan.
@@dickraynes1339 I am a DEVILS fan that is my favorite call
maybe it would’ve been if they beat the kings
@@LASportsMusic beating the Rangers and keeping them out of the Cup feels good, regardless of the outcome.
Pitchforks it in
Won't be the same without him 😔😔 what a career though through 22 stanley cups and a bunch of amazing calls.
Is he going to retire?
@@user-vo3gt9xe2v he already did
Kinda feel like his "the save" call was the most epic.
Def was the loudest
Playoff Hockey will never do the same without him, my favourite announcer in NHL history, every game had emotion when Doc was the Commentator, he knew what your were in for and was never a homer even when some scored vs the Devils, Doc will always be one of greats and the grandfathers of hockey but truly, he will always be the King of Playoff Hockey
10 always gives me chills. Love how for half of it he just lets you feel the energy of the crowd. Gonna miss you Doc
That’s the calling card of any great announcer. Let the crowd tell the story. Hit the line, then get out of the way.
As person who never grew up with playing or watching hockey, this man definitely impacted my love for hockey. Doc is not a commentator he is a narrator.
Everyone: 1:10 left
Doc: 7 0 s e c o n d s l e f t
quick mafs
As a Devils fan... We were SO spoiled!
Amen brother
Devils-Rangers in the early 90’s made previously non-existent youth hockey explode in NJ, leading to players like the Van Riemsdyk brothers, and I honestly don’t think it’s to the same scale without Doc. He made every night feel like a playoff game
Easily 100 great calls in Jersey 👍🏻
@@Mike-ge7pe those guys, Bobby Ryan, tony deangelo (lol) are Philadelphia guys. Yes they’re from New Jersey but they grew up in the shadow of Philadelphia
Random question: did the Devils hire Doc or did MSG Network? MSG has been solid at selecting analysts and commentators for years.
It's going to be very odd not having him call games. I've never seen a time when he wasn't calling games. I'll definitely miss him, it's almost like he is the voice of the NHL.
The Henrique OT Winner was the best call he has ever had. Bottom line. His first year away from New Jersey and he gets to announce them eliminating the Rangers to go to the Finals.
Nah
nah you’re just biased although it shoulda been higher than 9
I don’t want to live a life without this incredible man
My favorite call by him was during a playoff game involving my favorite team that included an extended period of frenetic end-to-end action. Finally, after a stoppage in play, during a pause in which everyone was catching their breath and trying to make sense of what all had just transpired, he simply said, "Isn't this fun?" Yes, Doc. Yes it was. Thanks.
My personal favorite call isn't on this list but "The longest wait for a first title in this league's history is over. For the first time the St. Louis Blues are Stanley Cup Champions!" is always going to be my personal favorite.
As incredible a moment it was and as happy for the Blues as I was too, that call in my opinion was rather weak.
The defending champions are defending no more
That’s the worst call ever and I may or may not be a bruins fan
NBC coverage with Doc was the best. I’m a Bruins fan and he made the ‘11, ‘13, and ‘18 SCF that much more exciting to watch (even though we finished on the losing end twice).
Whoever made this list deserves to get fired
I will agree there are waaaaaaaaaaaaay better calls that should be on here
Agreed. This should be a top 50
He was unbelievable
can you even pick 10 calls from doc’s career? i feel like you’d have to do 100 if not even a thousand like any true NHL fan would 100% listen to hours of doc
Totally agree!👍
The best call was him saying I'm retiring. Hes garbage
I remember Mike and Bill Clement calling games in the mid-80s when I was growing up. Loved hearing them call a game.
Geez what can you say except thanks Doc, for all the exciting calls and the never ending humor with your colleagues.
Congrats on your retirement. May it be long and healthy.
The absolute very best in his class. Live long Doc. Thank you for the memories.
I still tear up and get emotional when Alec Martinez buries that rebound.
It’s been a great ride folks
Not only the best hockey announcer but the best announcer in sports. You were so missed this year!
I loved Doc. I never understood the hate for him. He had all the passion of every hockey fan and was genuinely excited with every call.
Noooo!! Gonna be so sad without him. But happy for him as well. Thank you for your awesome work. I swear you always had the same emotions for BOTH teams that you announced.
1:47 Ah, memories! Thank You Doc for all of the great memories over the years! We love you and we'll miss you bud!
1:34 SCooOooOoooOoOoores!!!!! 🤣🤣
There will never be another announcer that will say that like he did
The joy in his voice, you knew he loved going to work! #thankyouDoc
I grew up listening to him call Maine Mariners games in the 70s on radio. He was fantastic. He knew how to tell the story so well. And you listened till “The Final Score for The Final Time”. Thanks for the memories.
I never knew what waffleboarded meant but I love it, thanks Doc
Another name for a blocker save
Back in the day(before the 80s), a lot of blockers had dots on them, pair that with the brown/tan leather and it kinda looked like a waffle and Stiff like a board. So now we have waffle-board. I think we have Doc to thank for keeping the term alive :)
@@unclejimmy5778 thx., that was a grt. descrip. heres an example by Ken D. ...

NBC viewers in the states are gonna feel like we in Canada did after Bob Cole retired a few years back.
What a game he had to go out on between the Canadiens and the Leafs. Ryan Poehling getting a hat trick in his first NHL game plus the shootout winner.
As a Canadian i always liked the excitement he brought to the game
Simply the Best... Thanks Doc.
It’s crazy how long this guys actually been broadcasting for. Congrats on an awesome career behind the headset Doc! Thanks for all the great calls and memories that will last a lifetime.
Greatest hockey sportscaster ever… I can’t believe he’s retired… 😣
Doc Emrick + Marc Andre Fleury = MAGIC 🐧
This man is why I got into sports broadcasting
Greatest announcer of all time
Greatest caller I’ve ever heard.
YIKES!!!!!
Henrique at 9? L
*HENRIQUE ITS OVER*
@@jahziyatheexpediametlifekf7257 PAIN as a rangers fan
Henrique criminally low
He had better calls. I would've included his Stanley Cup to New Jersey call in '95.
Number 1 took me back. I got chills
one of the best ! Gonna miss him
"Score! The Stanley Cup! Martinez!"
I'll never forget it.
Amazing selections
Goosebumps every time..
Mike "Doc" Emrick's call of Sidney Crosby's overtime goal in the 2010 Olympic men's hockey championship game, although not strictly NHL, and was a U.S. broadcast of Canada winning the game and the gold, should have been number one in this ranking.
thank you , doc ❤
That save from Flower on Lidstrom has given me nightmares for over a decade...Thank for that...
He was the one who made the 2015 Stanley cup finals so amazing.
Thank You Doc !
Henrique call is 1 personally.
Parise's tying goal and Crosby's golden goal is way better.
Game Six Eastern conference finals "The Stuff of legends, the called shot, the hat trick"
I think #2 should've been #1 and I'm hawks fan.
For LA to win like that at home, in OT. 'Shot, save, rebound - SCORE!!!!' the crowd going nuts, its an awesome call!
concur!!!!!!
Thanks for the Memories, Doc
Gonna miss you doc ❤️
Thank you Doc, you are the GOAT!!
If you can't make the show, I can think of no better life than being able to COVER the show for 50 years. What a great life you've led, Mike and thanks for sharing your love of the game. Enjoy retirement.
i wish he still commentated he was the best
He got so many , its no right answer 👏🏽👏🏽
Stepans goal at 10 is a misjustice
Should be top 3 at least
That Martinez goal gives me goosebumps every time.. and I'm not even a kings fan!
I barely even watch the nhl but his voice is synonymous with the nhl for me. Incredible announcer
Great compilation, even if the last one is still tough for me to watch.
Doc was simply the best.
I want Doc Emrick to do the highlight reel of my life at my wake. : )
Great career
Thanks Doc
The greatest sports announcer ever! It’s not even close.
THANK YOU DOC
Miss this legend
No one can ever tell me Hockey is not THE BEST SPORT EVER~~~!!!! And thanks for the memories and literally hundreds of great calls Doc!
Pat LaFontaine scoring the 4OT game seven winner between the Islanders and Washington on Easter weekend in 1987 has to be able to fit in here somewhere. I had to set up my VCR after the first OT and go to work. LaFontaine scored with about five minutes left on the timer.
Watching the NHL on NBC won't be the same again. I enjoyed his work on both NBC and SportsChannel America and I'm happy that he ended things with the Lightning's 2020 championship.
Noone will ever give me the same anxiety and shock as i did when watching games, 2:25 is a representation of that as a pens fan, Thank you Doc!
“Oh what a save by Binnington” is a particular favorite of mine.
This guy was a treasure. Him and ray ferraro were good together
Thank you Doc…. Thank you so much.
My top favorite was the Kunitz goal in game 7, OT, Pens vs Sens.
I was expecting this at #1 after seeing the Martinez goal, having completely forgotten about the Fleury save!
Sometimes I wish I'd been following the team for longer than four years.
Or when Nick Bonino knocked the Caps out of the playoffs in OT the year before for the Pens.
Legend truly
Viva le Fleury! Doc - It's still hard to imagine hockey without your vast knowledge and your unbridled enthusiasm for the sport. Enjoy retirement and stay safe. We love you in the Burgh.
His true greatness was when nothing was going on and he made it interesting.
Doc Emrick was a class act
I wish he didn't retire and what a voice
Doc is one of the best to ever call the game
Does anyone have a clip of the save on Crosby from the beginning of the video?
number 5 went crazy 🤯
Some real good ones here, but I feel like we also need "Threw one in front, they-- oh my it rattled around and it's kicked on back and then scored?! We saw no light, we saw no signal! And we're not sure if they've sent a signal to the goal, but they are celebrating at the other end of the ice, what chaos!" Not the cleanest call of a Stanley Cup winner, but "what chaos!" is so beautifully Doc.
I love doc he and gary thorne are awesome what legends these guys are would love to have dinner and drinks with them and just talk hockey
He got better as the years went along. The greatest to ever do it.
thank you.Doc..YOU are the G.O.A.T .enjoy yourself .come back in sit in on a Bruins game if you get bored..🙏👏👏👏👏❤👏👏👏🤩👏
Awesome calls from a true broadcasting legend! We’ll miss you Doc! From one of your many fans in Canada!!!
In my opinion the actual goat of play by play.
#ThankYouDoc!
Maybe I’m a little biased but to me one call that should’ve been on here was 2010 Stanley cup.. “We saw no light. We saw no signal but they are celebrating at the other end of the ice what chaos” still gives me chills
It's devastating that he's gone. Can't he just come back?
As an American and a Flyers fan it *really* hurts me to bring this up, but how can you not put Crosby’s golden goal from the 2010 olympics on this list? Absolutely legendary moment.
The voice of playoff hockey
Stepan's goal being at 10 and Henrique's goal at 9 is a crime against humanity
Greatest Announcer in any sport of all time!!!!!
Hot Diggity Damn ... MIKE EMRICK is the GOAT in Play-by-Play .... not just in HOCKEY, in ANY SPORT ! At the 4:42 mark, WHO IS NOT exhausted ?!?
Mike Emrick will be sorely missed. I wish him the best on his retirement.
