When mentioning the stoic odds I thought you said stoic “gods” so it was pretty funny to imagine you trash talking the gods lol. I think that’s how I will refer to it, personally.
In my humble opinion, he is a bad stoic. He spent good amount of time talking about himself and his accomplishments on publishing his books and compare the ranking sale. That's not a stoic thing to do. Also, at the beginning, he proudly said he further divided the dichotomy of control into 3 1. Things you can control 2. Things you can somewhat control 3. Things you can't control. The thing he doesn't understand is that by saying there are things we can can't control because of force of nature. It still mean " people should do their best but once they did their best, they shouldn't sit there and worry about the outcome " He has American ways of approaching stoicism. And that's why only white Americans would see him as sage. Believe it or not, the way European and Asian are raised different than the way Americans are raised. Yes. Even though we read the same philosophy books, we will come up with our own interpretations, due to the ideology or culture we are raised in. Having different interpretation is okay but went on and bragged about your books is not the STOIC way. You should not call yourself a stoic. You should be ashamed of this video. Thank you for your time
Brilliant talk. Thank you.
I have to thank the stoic odds. By chance, I ended up in this video, and learnt the funny yet useful idea of "stoic odds". I love it.
