A SWIM JIG Shines In These CONDITIONS

- A summer multi day rain event can bring run off in certain sections of the lake. Fresh water running into the lake attracts bait fish and bass. I missed the morning rain but was able to get in a few hours at the end of the day. Targeting run off areas with a swim jig and a chatterbait paid off.

You need too be in the Elite series. Great video
Thanks
Had those 2 not came off you would of had a 20+ bag. Good video my friend!
Thanks buddy. The ones I lost were at least 10 lbs each. 😊
I use the same size flouro except when fishing heavy grass. Lakes around here are usually super clear
🤘 Appreciate the feedback
Looks like the rain ran everyone off. Not another boat in site! Beautiful conditions and the fish were cooperating. Only thing missing was Finn. That last one on the Knight?
Ya only a few people on the lake. I wish Finley could go with me but she melts like butter in the heat. The last fish was on a distant cousin of the White Knight.😎
Your very dedicated man and you fish smart very impressive
Thanks James.
Shallow water bassin 💥 I like braid or copolymer depending on the cover. That copolymer has limited stretch and is incredibly durable.
Ok. Thanks for the feedback. Definitely need to revisit braid.
One of my lowest confidence baits is the swim jig. But I've been putting in the time with it and we are getting there slowly.
Good to hear. I was the same way for many years and once I started fishing with it more and having a little success I started picking it up more.
I like videos like this ... no crazy long intro and long unrelated talking.. just straight good fishing
Thanks Frankey.
Smooth casts!
Can you explain the cast and pause at 0:55? Is it because you felt a bite on the fall?
Thanks. Ya the bait felt heavy like it was in the grass. As I slowly pulled it felt solid so I knew a fish had grabbed it. I was just checking the bait. Great observation.
I throw straight 30lb super smooth braid because the water I fish is dirty. Sometimes I'll tie a 15lb leader on. I fish the exact same setup you do. Funny you caught that catfish. I caught a 20+lb flathead last week on the white swimjig. Thought I had the state record large mouth 😂
Man those catfish always get my heart racing.
Enjoyed the video nice fish you caught
Appreciate it.
You had me at the thumbnail that's an OG UA-cam fishing video thumbnail just like I like it solid vid dude
Thanks bro. Always good to see you in the comments. Tight lines.
I think Gabe deserves an invite to Lake X. Would love to see you two team up on it!
I throw 17lb fluorocarbon on gravel banks and brush. A lot of times braid will cut into wood and hang you up. In grass I will use braid in stained water and add a fluorocarbon leader in clear. Better luck on the big ones on your next trip!
Thanks for the feedback buddy. Solid points. Just glad I wasn't in a derby.
Braid to flourocarbon leader is the best of both worlds you get the sensitivity of braid and lower stretch depending on the length of your leader. I actually prefer it to fishing straight braid
Thanks for the feedback. What knot do you use?
Nice video 😊
Thanks
I fish a grass lake and I like 30lb straight braid. I also notice some days they bite it with a craw style trailer and some days they want it slow rolled with a paddle tail trailer.
Good feedback dude. I appreciate n agree. The trailer can be a big deal.
I guess I need to throw a swim jig more often. I do prefer using 30 lb. braid in all types of bass fishing. I rarely break my line. I used a palomar knot on braid. Great video as usual. Very informative. Thank you and God bless you.
Thanks Steve. It’s a great bait on your favorite lake.
Good vid Gabe , how many fish have you caught in the last few years on a swim jig. That’s been a great bait for you . Thanks for sharing.
I absolutely love a swim jig. I keep learning more about it as the years go on.
I use fluorocarbon, 12-15lb depending on the situation. 7'3" MH rod and a similar gear ratio reel, 7:3:1.
Sounds like we basically have the same set up
I normally throw 15-20 pound floro on my swim jigs.
👍
Told ya sidearm hooksets will lose more fish.
No argument here.
