Three weeks ago the same thing happened in Puerto Rico with a flight of the United airline and Spirit the control tower of Puerto Rico gave the Spirit Fly the Clear for takeoff without realizing that behind was the United flight landing on its final descent when they realized the error they asked the Spirit Fly to leave the runway clear immediately and just when the Spirit flight left the runway the United's flight landed they would have collided
This is a highly misleading story. As anyone can hear on the tower radio recording, tower instructions are obscured inadvertently by another radio transmission. That happens because the aviation industry is still using what's called "simplex" radio, meaning one frequency for transmissions and receiving. The problem is that when you are transmitting, you might obscure or "cover" a more urgent radio call. It happens every day.

In reality, most people who have been flying for any length of time have unknowingly been in a near-something. We just didn't know. I am actually grateful for not knowing if I was on a plane in such a situation. Just wake me up when it's over.
Nowadays, ya can't hide anything with the public monitoring ATC traffic and planes all the time and slapping it on YT. Probably a good thing. But sure makes things seem like they are stacking up a little too high. Like we're playing Jenga or something. Scary.
these are also the people who design the USM. which can barely defeat Granada.
