The way you just slowly realised as the EU got bigger it meant that stuff could not longer/make it harder to be passed was hilarious because that's EXACTLY what occurred in real life....

USA managed, there was serious resistance to the idea of centralized government, including a civil war. Imo, over time, EU will get more cohesive to allow this.

With the US there is a common language and culture that binds the states together. The EU has none of that.

Once again, I recommend to boost AI nations, choose AI economic boost in preset settings and boost majority of bigger nations so that AI will not suicide itself in Millenium Dawn. It's unfair to player, but at least the world isn't collapsing. And if you're playing a nation that allows boosting, difficulty debuff and boost cancel each other and you get only buffed AIs. And a small research malus.

Yeah, we kinda figured it out the first time. It's just never worth it unless you're doing it for political power or because you, as an individual, have shares in a company that could make a lot of profit from that changing situation, East India Trading Company style, because they'll come out ahead, not either of the countries.

I don't think you have yet tried Italy but you should it has very many fun things in it'd focus tree and options
Great Video also because it even motivated to try the mod myself. Looking forward to the next one. If you wanna try another european country I'd recommend monarchist Sweden, i've already tried it and I was able to do something interesting way earlier than with other countries but only got a good industry/economy through puppeting Germany. :)
France is the best country to unite the EU with, because their focuses give them massive foreign influence in the former French empire.

Europe has had a thousand years to develop independent, prideful nations who only decided to finally get along after 2 world wars and the invention of weapons that would have made a 3rd world war apocalyptic. Convincing them all to give up their independence was always going to be a major pain in the ass. Doing so by 2014 strains credibility as it is.
African countries might be even more reluctant to surrender autonomy to a past colonial power. There is plenty of historical baggage there. They'd need a very compelling reason... like being dug out of crippling debt and extended all of the lovely welfare benefits of a developed European power. If everything is going great, they'll stick on their own.
With all of the horrible political BS you needed to deal with, it's no wonder that so many nations considered leaving.

When u are at war your military budget goes up by like 100% i think. Also you dont need to click on a state and then on the flag to look at a nation you just have to right click.

I would love millenium dawn to be a little more realistic in terms of politics in the eu, every game i play with AI they just start doing rediculous stuff even though i put alot of energy into making them democratic and stable.
