@@LordNeckBeard Yes because Tetricus didn't actually want to break away from Rome. Both the Gallic and Palmyrene were breakaway Roman States, not seperate Empires. They broke away in response to the chaos of the Third century in order to take their security into their own hands since the central government was too busy killing new Emperors every 5 seconds. Tetricus was a Roman through and through. He didn't actually want to go to war with Rome. You'd notice that the Gallic Empire was mostly defensive Empire throughout its existence as they concentrated their efforts into defending the Rhine frontier. His army borderline threatened him to fight so he took them to battle but ran away at the opportune moment.

Theres plenty of men capable of doing just as well as him if not more, but the modern system of corrupt democracies controlled by unseen deep states pretty much prevents anyone that isnt controlled by them from ever being given a position of power, and even when one might actually power through all that and get elected…in a democratic system the highest executive doesn’t have enough power to really do anything they dont want even then.
Even meh people who arent anywhere close to that great, but still at least have a balanced and open minded perspective and new fresh ideas like idk Andrew Yang in the last US election are shut out by the established parties in favor of another old, bland puppet bureaucrat as the candidate for election.
Now maybe if things in our time got as horrendously bad as in his time…that could change and some great people might rise up. The reason this goes on as the status quo is probably largely dependent on things just not being bad enough yet.
Things just kinda suck ass, but they arent “holy shit the entire world is burning…if we dont do something huge, we’re going to see a new dark age!” Level, and so…sadly that’s probably what is going to have to happen for things to actually be turned around and get better.
I guess that kinda makes sense because ever since the Roman Empire collapsed the world has just been trying to figure shit out and solve enough problems to regain the kind of stability it had lost after Rome, and only in our time did we really regain that comfortable, safe, and peaceful existence.
Of course it didnt last long and we’re now seeing a rapid decline, which may very well lead to the start of a collapse which then will either finally wake people the fuck up and have great men appear and take action(if thats still possible in our governments)…or will lead to the civilized world burning all around us.

    > Brings Gaul back into the empire

    > Defeats rebellious Palmyra twice and captures their Queen Zenobia
    > Allocates her a property in Rome out of respect
    > Completely reassembles the dying empire from her ashes
    > Ensures empire's stability by making many reforms
    > Given the title Restitutor Orbis, meaning Restorer of the World
    > All in five years
    > Killed by his own soldiers while planning a new campaign against the Sassanids
    > Replaced by a charlatan who literally bought the crown
Like every empire throughout history that has killed its potential saviors. Even during her decline, Rome had many opportunities to return to her great days. But she couldn't achieve it. Perhaps it's a twist of fate or perhaps no success goes unpunished.

Just how would it impact the Empire? Would we be all speaking Latin, or are we overestimating the Romans to keep things in order once he passes away? A much more earlier downfall, or are we going to actually advance so fast that we would've been on the moon 500 years earlier and be colonizing the rest of the sol system by now?

while we're all here together I stongly advise europeans to read the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Go back long enough and we're from the same stock of steppe nomads

Well i am brazilian with blood italian and i know some things about Roman Empire, i have a big love and admiration for Roman Empire because for us latins it was our one empire who make great civiliziations and we are descendants of it, of course also respect to indian civilization since it's most older as sumerians, greeks, chineses, japaneses, persians and etc, i love all empires and civiliziations because it was important for humanity where had real progress, traditions, culture and history, on which its very different from world of today though.

I'm a barbarian and even I must admit he achieved a lot. Didn't last, but while he was around things seemed to be improving for Rome.
