Thank you my good man. Ive been playing ark for years now, been breeding for a bit. And you just saved my line of wolves I'm super breeding. Appreciate you loads.
I have been playing Ark for a couple of years and its only now in Ascended I'm dipping my toes in to breeding for boss fights and I had not a clue about mutations and how it worked I just thought 'any' mutation on any side was good and this now makes sense. I now have a make lv 100 Rex male I want to breed from so will try this with him. Thank you for taking the time to explain (have watched all three video's) and the diagrams works great.
I think you said that the dino didn't really get mutations even though the count mutation went up but I think color changes in a dino even though theres no extra stat mutations, the colors will still count at mutations. In my opinion, I would go for color in mutations in a dino towards the end of the line unless you randomly get the colors you want.
@ConCon is 100% correct. Once you've mastered this process, you could also start a different batch for negative mutations. So you have your health batch, damage batch and the negative mutation batch, where you keep smashing the mutated dino together to get the mutation counter below 0; as the counter accumulates, it'll go past the byte value, flipping to negative, which essentially means both sides have 0 mutations, and you get increased probability and efficiency of getting mutations. You need approximately 32 generations to achieve this. And it's only for people who are going for max stats. In the previous ARK: Survival Evolved, you saw all the Real-Money Traders on the black market use this strategy.
At 11:00 that wolf is not necessarily fixed as it still has a ton of wasted mutations and since it does and the number is over 20 thechance of further mutations gets cut in half from something like 7% to 3.5%. its best to just go back to before the mistakes occured as it will save a lot of time. And its notthe end of the world if you get a female with a mutation all you have to do is breed the female with an unmutated male until it passes the mutation you want on to a male.
Yes you are correct, its only best to do this if you already had 20 mutations. But this is also how to fix your line if you already messed it up. It would be preferable if you didn't mess it up in the first place.
@@ConCon max mutations are 254 points per stat = 127 pure mutation in each stat......... (127x2=254)............. before 20/20 as my friend said some like 10%........... above 20/20 decreases to 5%................. so u have to glitch them until turns on negative mutatios increasing the chance to 7,5%.............. to glich them u must do just the oposite before 20/20..... just breed max mutated with max mutated..... untile u breed a 100k/20 with a 100k/20 and turns into a -200k/20................ and there u go..... full negative increasing until millions but its the same 7,5% after number glitches and turns negative............
an important detail diferent on asa is that mutation are apart from stat base dino............ so........... if u have a 40 mele with 12 mutations................. and u find a 50 mele....... u breed them and go inmidiatly 50 +12 mele mutation.......... so u must breed with any shit u get if u want to breed a line..... the base can be changed in any moment............
I know this video is a month old already and everyone has already given their thanks but I cant stress this enough. I couldnt understand what I was doing wrong with other creators breeding both male and female mutations together and not explaining the way they stack. Thanks for going back to the abc's. So extreamly helpful and I managed to figure it out with only one waisted mutation on my health mutated male.
Done a lot of breeding on ASE - so assuming its the same on ASA, some people like it in text form - Basically; Wild / Start: - Get wild dinos with stats you want - Breed until you have a male and female (non mutated and they have all of the right stats) - this is your original/start pair Mutation 1: - Breed together the non-mutated pair (keep a hold of the original male for later) - Swap out the male each time there is a mutation on the male line (kill anything else) *You end up with the 20 mutation stack male breeding with the original non-mutated female(s) Mutation 2: - Take the non-mutated male again, breed with one of the non-mutated females and do the same for a different stat and this time do it while swapping out the female. This takes longer because for the male line, you can use multiple females to 1 male but this doesnt work for female line. *You will end up with a 20 mutation stack female breeding with the original non-mutated male End: Once you have your 20M and 20F, - Breed these together until you get a male and female with both mutation stacks applied. (This is your perfect mutated pair) - Breed them together and the child from this is your riding/using tame(s), imprint and then store the perfects somewhere safe - - - 4 Stack Mutation: If you want to do a 4 stack Health, Melee, Weight, Stamina (10 mutations) -- its the same thing, instead of 20 you just stop at half way. You will end up with 2 males, 2 females. Breed till the mutations transfer over
Most of that is correct but you stopped early at 40 mutations, you can keep going until you reach 127 mutations on each stat to max out the creatures stat values.
Also, you can now start mutating dinos with low stats and when you find another one with better stats, put it in the "equation". You can start with the mutations from the beginning and then mix them with the stats of other dinos you find later.
@@IXxJordan I'm still learning so I could be wrong but I think that as long as you haven't reached the cap (20/20) in both ancestry lines you can continue adding mutations from the one that is not at 20/20. When you reach 20/20 in both lines is when it no longer allows you to add more mutations (stats). But you can always clean one of the lines with a clean creature (no mutations). As I say, I could be wrong... @Concon is the one who can really confirm it for us.
Can someone please answer my question. If I end up with a female with single mutation on It what do I do? 1. Cant use it 2. Can breed with it 3. It's fine to breed with provided the mutation is on the patrilineal side Thanks in advance 🎉
Two major points I have not heard you mention: 1. Once a dino has 20 or more on either side, it can no longer mutate. Yes, the clean female can source the mutation, but not the male, meaning from 20 up you breed with HALF the chance of getting a mutation. 2. This can be avoided. If you stack the counters and reach a little over 2.1 billion, the counter will overflow into a negative number. The game considers that negative number less than 20, so the male CAN be a source of a mutation again, getting you back at full chance. Otherwise great vid
Nice video! You explained it extremely well. Plus I got a nice laugh with all the different ways you said "mutation". I'm not making fun. It was really a good informing and entertaining video.
I wish I saw this video before I ended up over my head in mutations 😂😅 and I was wondering what the neck is going on. Yep, you guessed it, I kept adding mutated females in the mix. Great vid, thanks for sharing, now I can fix my mess 😅
Ok so what if I pop out a baby that’s a female but it has a mutation? Then do I breed it with a 0 mutation male and hope for a male baby? Or is that mutation useless because it was on a female
You saved me some work, I accidentally breeded two breeding females with one mutation but no Stat change and continued breeding with them and some 00. It wasn't that bad for me, I am still on 5 20 on the patrilineal side so I just took them out and continued breeding like nothing happened.
You're right and all, but there is a benefit to going high on mutations, bc once you go into the negative integers you have a higher chance of getting mutations, bc the game thinks you're breeding it with 2 - 0/0 tames
Yes that's true, and you can use the females if you want but the odds of you getting a baby with the right mutations from 1 mom at a time is much lower than a dad breeding 20 babies or more in the same time period.
@ConCon I meant to add this earlier but yea it depends on the server bc 9/10 it's easier to use that female with the mute to breed with a 0/0 male and get that same stat you wanted back on a male, rather then rebreeding to have a smaller chance to get that specific stat mutation on a male, unless again you're on a boosted server and there's like no cool down on breeding
I get the idea but it’s hard to find females all same level…to start. I see 90% of the time levels 4-30 something sometimes 40s to 60s…only once saw a level 100 argy (difficulty on 1 and some other setting in single player to max level wild Dino’s spawn level 150 I have yet to see that though..). I just level and max weight with argy for now and did some test batch breeding got a few decent melee stars but I did imprinting..some vids say don’t do imprinting but stats are garbage without..I can’t get equal levels females to tame so idk what to do…
Imprinting doesn't affect breeding. It just makes it harder to track the stats without the tek binoculars. Get 1 male and 1 female and breed until you have more and more until you get a lot of females that way.
@@ConConI actually did end up doing that but no spyglass mod I use shows mutations no matter what I do so I got Best Egg mod which does. I now have a melee stacking argy breeding pool (males getting melee and females all equal stats level) however I have no matrilineal mutation on females they are related to the mutated father so mutations show on patrilineal side. They are all producing babies with matrilineal mutation count for some reason….so basically all the females HAVE to be from a wild tamed parent unrelated to the mutated male? -_- Its so stupid I tell you
The thing is some of us think that 20 mutation is a limit that we can’t go high up. It’s actually stackable. That’s important part, yea, it’s stackable when you breed a 20/20 mut creature to a clean creature. That’s mutation will jump to 1 side. That’s it.
Can you breed a male with mutations on both sides to a completely different female from a different lineage and restart with those mutations from the male
good video on basics.. but you did get some things wrong. Mainly, you will never get a mutation that is just a stat or just a color. Every mutation is a stat and a color. the Stat may be from a lower stat. or a color in a region that is unseen. but it will be there. used to be speed that could not be seen. but even then. programs like ARK smart breeding could find it fast. once the mutation counter hits 20/20 or higher. that parent will no longer contribute to a mutation. then you halved the chance of getting a mutation. which is why you keep one side clean. Most breeders use Clean females as a male can breed with many. but I have seen some breeders breed with female mutations and a clean male. granted, takes them longer to get mutations. but it can be done. and for breeding mutated males and females could be used to get the mutations into NEGITIVE numbers. to allow the male to contribute a chance for mutations again. but that is late game breeding.
I am aware of mutations giving both colour and stat changes as mentioned in my breeding guides already, you may have misunderstood what I said somewhere in the video regarding that? I know all this information already but thanks for sharing it for others who might not know.
Best video I’ve seen always get confused how carbys thylas stegos have 254 points into hp bc I did the simple math of 2 points per mut and what I thought was a max of “40 muts” 20 on each side was only 80 points so I never got how people got 254 hp point stegos off just muts thank you so much for explaining
When’s the next How to play Ark? I’m an OG player and know a lot, but you explain everything so well and I dunno what it is I just love watching it so good very detailed and really smooth! 💜🔥
So glad this came out, I always knew what to do but never knew why and I’m now concerned I’ve been doing things wrong (at work atm), vid was extremely helpful and you’re insanely good at conveying the concept. Thank you very much for the vid. I do have to ask if you have a perfect pair for example and you get a male mut, breed it with the female non mut and get a female, is it still fine to breed with the female mut and non mut male?
you can use females to breed. what i do is have the main female and a main male. everytime i get new female of 0 mutations i put her in a pile, so i can breed any males with mutations to a group of 0 mutation females. and if i get a female with a mutation, i just put her in a stack that i'm breeding with a 0 mutation male. no matter which stack i get the egg from, their will only be mutation on 1 side of a baby.
Yes there is a trick to do this enough times that the number goes into the negative and then the 20/20 counter can be ignored but you'd need to breed a couple hundred generations of dinos to get there I think
@@ConCon its easy to get that many gens if you think about it.. ase pve boss rex line like 3 years ago? i alone did atleast 100 gens across multiplke lines and some of them i bought or traded or sold yadda yadda ...alot of passing of tribes
So, if I understand correctly. 1. Clean F, Clean M, breed till mutated male. 2. Clean F, newly mutated male, breed till newly mutated male with new mutation and original mutation. 3. Repeat with Clean F and newly mutated male. Is that correct? Also, can you do this same process with a Clean M and mutated females? Example; 1. Clean M, Clean F, breed till newly mutated F. 2. Clean M, mutated F, breed till newly mutated F with new mutation and original mutation. 3. Repeat with Clean M and newly mutated F. Would that work the same?
I bred Rexes once I got a male and female with best stats from the parents they were level 251, I only kept males which I bred back to the mother and only wanted melee mutations I eventually ended up with a 301 male with 20 melee mutations, I then got a new wild male and female bred for a perfect stat male and female which luckily came out at 251 wich I bred and only kept female which I bred to the dad for only health mutations until I had a female with 20 health mutations, I then bred the 20 health mutations female with the male 20 melee mutations I got a baby of level 375 with all mutations its an insane Rex nealry 30k health before I even put a point in and 1038 damage. Yes i had to kill thousands of baby rexes that didnt meet the cut and yes I spent hours and hour and hours nealry 140 hours on rexes but worth it, levelled it it now has 120k health didnt seem worth putting points in melee . I sat on him in Alpha Tek cave and he tanked the crap out of it while I used 500+ shotgun shells to complete it best 140 hours ever spent
Just a question, I get all this - it makes perfect sense. But what if I breed a female with 20 mutations with a male from a completely different lineage with 20 mutations?
So I got a mutation on a creature after a lot of breeding, but it was a female. Do I now just breed with that until I get a male, then switch to using only that male with clean females?
breeding the messed up male with it's clean mother doesn't really fix it while the males counter was under 20.. under 20 on the males side leave a 50\50 chance for the desired stat to be mutated by either the male or female or rarely both (double mutation). by "fixing" the messed up male by moving all the mutations onto the males side with a clean female but having the counter go over 20 you essentially rob your breeding line of getting mutations from the male meaning the only mutations you get will come from the female side. hardcore breeders will encounter this anyway when they breed upto stat cap but having that 50\50 chance in the beginning can speed up the mutations. better to go back once you realise you messed up and keep it clean. other than that as an experienced ark breeder i'd say you explained it rather well
Yeah I get it, but that's still very confusing to explain to people who are still learning breeding and how mutations work. Once they get into doing it themselves and understand it they will dwelve into the main maxing to progress it faster
@@ConCon yep i've tried to teach mutation breeding to many and always end up pointing people to videos because it's hard to explain more than once. your video will now be one that i direct people to should the subject ever arise again. you explained it well
This was an amazing explanation! Can you make an in-depth video on why you shouldn't breed health and melee mutations on the same male at the same time?
I actually did breed a bunch of mutated argies together during the event just because it was so easy and I was going mainly for stats. I’m glad there’s a way to fix it though and luckily most of the mutated babies I have are just one on the patrilineal side. So far I got stam mutation on ptera, melee mutation on wolf, and I’ve gotten mutations in every stat for argies. I kept females without Ms though luckily and males that still have the correct counters. I’m not sure if I have the patience to continue breeding for ms but I atleast got a start on it while rates were up.
@@ConCon yup especially since we have to rely on the most unreliable variable in gaming which is RNG lol. Literally taking gambles hatching these eggs hoping it’s worth raising. It does seem to happen more frequently when I raise babies from high level tames that had no wasted points in their genetics
@@ConCon hey update now I have 2 baby male argies that are both “ fixed “ with all 4 mutations on partrilineal side and matrilineal side is clean. The better one is 3431 hp 1280 stam 390 melee 448 weight. It looks like it got the weight mutation but the lower stat so it didn’t really reflect. My best argy stat wise had the same melee but 3500 Hp and about 800 weight b4 imprint. That one came out level 254 I believe. Overall all the breeding I done prior was worth it because it was the only way to get these kind of stats all onto one argy. Now I can still go for mutations later if I choose but I can guarantee babies with stats like these whenever I want.
Been watching lots of breeding guides now, and they are helpful, but.... All fall into the same habit of telling us that we have to do this and that, but never explain why, and what will happen if we don't. Maybe this video will clear up some things 😅
is this basically saying it says 7 mutations but some are actually the same mutation meaning there is no positive too it, it just adds one to the limit in mutations
I know this video is already a month old, but I have some questions about fixing a mistake I made while breeding. Currently using 1 male baryonx and 4 females all with 1 mat and 1 pat mutation. I accidentally killed my original female with 0 mutations. What would be the best way to fix this and get back to having all my mutations on 1 side? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
So wait what if you get a mutated fm could you breed it with a non mutated male then a male with those stats could you then breed it with a non mutated fm?
So when getting mutations if you get a male with the correct mutation you want but the mutation came from the mothers side of you breed that male with the PF the mutations will correct back over the males side correct? Or can I only use mutations from the fathers side.
so if u get bad rng and always get the good stats on ur female babies...u just r hooped? or can u do this backwords? wherever u get the good stats on, u just stack on that line instead with clean males?
Breed -1 dinos, which means you can keep your count at 0/0 on both sides. Why to that? Well over 20 the chance of muts stops on the male side, so you get a reduced chance. How do you do that, simple breed muts with muts, 1+1, 2+2, 4+4, 8+8....do 32 times to get a negative counter, then breed back down to -1.
Wait so what do you do with the one female with mutation in order to keep the mutation going down the line? Do you breed with a clean male and get another son?
@@blaydeplayz4727 make it breed with male to get stats on the male, if I understood good but after that use the male that will get the stats and not mutated females dont keep the mom
Right so it only matters if you want the number to be accurate on the line to how many mutations you have? If you fix it, you still get mutations anyways but the number is wrong. Also if that’s a feature. That’s horrible. I’d assume it’s a bug yet to be fixed/ changed
So let's say I get a male with 20/20 mutations in melee on the farther side is that it then ? Or xan I keep going to get more mutations and will they count ?
Does not matter, if you have the best ones already start there but if you still have low ones you can get a headstart before you find those high levels
Also make sure yall have 2 identical male and females when you start You will know this when the levels of your new male and female baby levels are identical. When those identical mate pair have a baby with a mutation the baby will be a higher level (so u will know off the bat what baby has a mutation)
The counters didnt mean a thing in asa. Just keep breading till you get the stat increase or color you wanted. Didnt matter what the mutation counter said
After you have 20 actual mutations on the father, it doesnt matter anymore if you exponentially increase the mutation count. In fact, theres a reason that you SHOULD aim to increase this number as fast as possible, and i have yet to see any video that explains the mutation underflow mechanic
@@leoserino7496 Mutation underflow. Easiest way to explain it, when male has 20+/20 it halfs the chance for new mutation. If you increase that number as high as possible it will overflow and go negative, meaning it doubles the chance for new mutation again
Yes you can do that, its a bit ineffective in the long run because once the Patrilineal side reaches 20/20 you can ONLY get mutations with stat increases if the baby gets the mutation on the Matrilineal. So at that point your chances for mutations become 50% less often. If you breed randomly and get 7 mutations but have over 20/20 on the male side, you have lost the 50% bonus for getting 20 mutations in first.
i got a matr and patr mut at the same time from 0 0 parents, but i cant see any different stats on baby from parents. just when i think i got it all straight in my head something odd happens that makes me question what i thought i knew
@@ConCon yeah not sure what happened, am going to breed the bby today and see what happens from there. There have been quite a few "odd" breeding outcomes on official recently. I'm hoping the stat boosts are just hiding and will pass on, otherwise its useless as already had colour from event tame.
I’ve heard of breeders going out and getting the lowest level possible Dino in order to reset stats? Or something like that. Anybody know what I’m talking about?
So when you get a baby where the mutation counter has gone up, it says it has say, 4 mutations from the patrilineal side, but using the binoculars reveals there are no middle numbers gone up, did they not really get the mutations, and I should try again? Ive had a lot of babies now, they don't seem to be passing down their mutations, but the counters inside the ancestry screen go up like they did. Also - does it not matter if the patrilineal mutations goes over 20?
The mutation counter passes down every time but the mutated stat is not guaranteed to pass down. So you need to track the values of the stat rather than that counter
So basically the final product will be 1/19 or 0/40 for mutations? Then afterwards the rest don’t matter because you’ve moved the stat bonuses already? Do I just keep the males breeding so it stacks from 1/20 to 2/20 then use that male as the next breeding base? I’m just trying to figure out how you get the stats on both sides to balance and not be wasted.
So sorry maybe I missed it so what I understand is basically keep breeding the mutated male constantly with clean females for more mutations. But what do we do if we ever get a female with mutations? If anyone can please answer and provide some clarity I will greatly appreciate it.
Im not sure if I messed up my argy line. Had 2 wilds, bred them. Baby was a female with a patri mutation. Bred that female with another male with no mutation, and ended up with a male baby with 2 mutations, one on matri one on patri. Is that male good to be my stud or is it missing mutation stats because it came from a mutated female?
This video I feel could of easily been understood by this. Always breed with a clean parent lol aka a non mutated one whether is a male or female doesn’t matter only matters on the speed of which u will get mutations. So if it’s a mutated male it’ll go way faster cuz they can breed with multiple females lol. But if it’s a girl u could keep it and slow down your progress or u could bread it with the clean male to get a male with the same stats and mutations and keep the same rate of progress that you had with a mutated male.
I have one question you only keep sons with Mutations and keep breeding with 0/0 but what If you get a female Baby with the highest Mutation you Just kill it, use it ? Or can you Transfer them also or its Just Always keep sons. Ty

This is the best explaining I have seen since 2017. Use mother with no mutations, you are the best! Thumbs up 😉🥰😘👍
Glad it was helpful!
You're so welcome, good luck with the breeding
I think you said that the dino didn't really get mutations even though the count mutation went up but I think color changes in a dino even though theres no extra stat mutations, the colors will still count at mutations. In my opinion, I would go for color in mutations in a dino towards the end of the line unless you randomly get the colors you want.
Yes or breed colors in a separate line for the end
Yeah it's a crazy technique haha
% are simblic idk if were 7,5.............3,75.............. and 5.....
an important detail diferent on asa is that mutation are apart from stat base dino............ so........... if u have a 40 mele with 12 mutations................. and u find a 50 mele....... u breed them and go inmidiatly 50 +12 mele mutation.......... so u must breed with any shit u get if u want to breed a line..... the base can be changed in any moment............
You're welcome, glad I could help explain
11:56 Actually after watching this video WITH pictures, it makes perfect sense to me, thank you
you have no idea how many times people have explained to me exactly what you said but i didnt have any reference to what they were talking about lol.
Best explanation of how to stack mutations ever created. Thank you!
The hours ive spent on other videos 😵💫...but this one made it all click and I finally get it. Thank you!!!!
You're so welcome!
Even though I never had this problem, it’s good to know in case it ever happens. Glad I was doing it right the whole time
You're welcome
Done a lot of breeding on ASE - so assuming its the same on ASA, some people like it in text form - Basically;
Wild / Start:
- Get wild dinos with stats you want
- Breed until you have a male and female (non mutated and they have all of the right stats) - this is your original/start pair
Mutation 1:
- Breed together the non-mutated pair (keep a hold of the original male for later)
- Swap out the male each time there is a mutation on the male line (kill anything else)
*You end up with the 20 mutation stack male breeding with the original non-mutated female(s)
Mutation 2:
- Take the non-mutated male again, breed with one of the non-mutated females and do the same for a different stat and this time do it while swapping out the female.
This takes longer because for the male line, you can use multiple females to 1 male but this doesnt work for female line.
*You will end up with a 20 mutation stack female breeding with the original non-mutated male
End:
Once you have your 20M and 20F,
- Breed these together until you get a male and female with both mutation stacks applied. (This is your perfect mutated pair)
- Breed them together and the child from this is your riding/using tame(s), imprint and then store the perfects somewhere safe
- - -
4 Stack Mutation:
If you want to do a 4 stack Health, Melee, Weight, Stamina (10 mutations) -- its the same thing, instead of 20 you just stop at half way.
You will end up with 2 males, 2 females. Breed till the mutations transfer over
If you keep the matrilineal part clean you can still add maternal mutations to that “perfect mutated male”.
@@skunkyfunky Hmm, I generally enver had to go higher so I never tested things. Would that mean you can have 20/20 on the male then 20/20 on a female?
@@IXxJordan I'm still learning so I could be wrong but I think that as long as you haven't reached the cap (20/20) in both ancestry lines you can continue adding mutations from the one that is not at 20/20.
When you reach 20/20 in both lines is when it no longer allows you to add more mutations (stats). But you can always clean one of the lines with a clean creature (no mutations).
As I say, I could be wrong... @Concon is the one who can really confirm it for us.
Thank you for explaining that I have been struggling with the "why" and you explained it verry well Thank you! again!!
You are so welcome!
The best explanation I have seen! Thank you so much, great video.
You're very welcome!
Such a good breakdown thank you so much! Keep up the vids, subbed. 👍🏻
Awesome, thank you!
Can someone please answer my question.
If I end up with a female with single mutation on It what do I do?
1. Cant use it
2. Can breed with it
3. It's fine to breed with provided the mutation is on the patrilineal side
Thanks in advance 🎉
If you want the mutation, breed her with a clean male to get a baby male with the mutation and use him as the new dad for the group of clean females
@ConCon thank you very much
Man I've watched 100s of taming videos and this is the best one I've found
Thanks!
Two major points I have not heard you mention:
Does that still do that in ASA?
Nice video! You explained it extremely well. Plus I got a nice laugh with all the different ways you said "mutation". I'm not making fun. It was really a good informing and entertaining video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wish I saw this video before I ended up over my head in mutations 😂😅 and I was wondering what the neck is going on. Yep, you guessed it, I kept adding mutated females in the mix.
Great vid, thanks for sharing, now I can fix my mess 😅
Super helpful man. Awesome video. Super spino line incoming :))
Epic, enjoy!
I disagree with the no mutations over 20. It does drop the percent chance by half but it's still possible.
Ok so what if I pop out a baby that’s a female but it has a mutation? Then do I breed it with a 0 mutation male and hope for a male baby? Or is that mutation useless because it was on a female
Ok so can you make a female line too 🤔 stack mutations on a female and breed with a male with no mutations?
Yes
You saved me some work, I accidentally breeded two breeding females with one mutation but no Stat change and continued breeding with them and some 00. It wasn't that bad for me, I am still on 5 20 on the patrilineal side so I just took them out and continued breeding like nothing happened.
Nice yeah that's fixable
You're right and all, but there is a benefit to going high on mutations, bc once you go into the negative integers you have a higher chance of getting mutations, bc the game thinks you're breeding it with 2 - 0/0 tames
And, you don't have to just keep males with mutes, if you get a female with the stat just breed with a 0/0 male
Yes that's true, and you can use the females if you want but the odds of you getting a baby with the right mutations from 1 mom at a time is much lower than a dad breeding 20 babies or more in the same time period.
@@ConCon depends on server
Its so stupid I tell you
Ok, NOW u made it cristal clear !
Thanks a lot!❤
You're welcome 😊
The thing is some of us think that 20 mutation is a limit that we can’t go high up. It’s actually stackable. That’s important part, yea, it’s stackable when you breed a 20/20 mut creature to a clean creature. That’s mutation will jump to 1 side. That’s it.
Yup exactly
Really great and clear video! Thanks 😊🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, I was messing up so bad, this was easy to understand, you got my sub
Thanks for the sub! glad it helped
Honestly, i think flying to the moon is easier than all this lol
Hahaha it sure feels like it sometimes
Can you breed a male with mutations on both sides to a completely different female from a different lineage and restart with those mutations from the male
As long as the female has 0 mutations
good video on basics.. but you did get some things wrong.
I know all this information already but thanks for sharing it for others who might not know.
very helpful comment! @KDaverGraphics
Actually your wrong you can have 800,000/10 mutations and still get one . All it matters is if you have 20 mutations
Thanks! the series was going pretty slow so I thought there was not much interest in it. But I can have a look at continuing it
So glad this came out, I always knew what to do but never knew why and I’m now concerned I’ve been doing things wrong (at work atm), vid was extremely helpful and you’re insanely good at conveying the concept. Thank you very much for the vid.
I do have to ask if you have a perfect pair for example and you get a male mut, breed it with the female non mut and get a female, is it still fine to breed with the female mut and non mut male?
Yes and once you get a male again you can move it back with the clean females
@@ConCon that’s great to hear! That’s what I have been doing and got worried halfway through the video 😅
you can use females to breed. what i do is have the main female and a main male. everytime i get new female of 0 mutations i put her in a pile, so i can breed any males with mutations to a group of 0 mutation females. and if i get a female with a mutation, i just put her in a stack that i'm breeding with a 0 mutation male. no matter which stack i get the egg from, their will only be mutation on 1 side of a baby.
Yes you can do that, its low odds but maybe you get a male with the mutation and just swap that in to your main line
Ok soo what you generally want is to just keep breeding untill you get a mutation on the male then breed again till another is on the male n so on ?
Yes
this is wild to think about because i remember seeing boss rex lines from ASE years ago with like 23,000,000,000,00, mutations.
Thank you so much, this video really helped me with breeding dinos.
Glad I could help!
Thank you for the video 😊 it all makes sense now
So, if I understand correctly.
1. Clean F, Clean M, breed till mutated male.
2. Clean F, newly mutated male, breed till newly mutated male with new mutation and original mutation.
3. Repeat with Clean F and newly mutated male.
Is that correct?
Also, can you do this same process with a Clean M and mutated females? Example;
Yup mutated dinos are awesome
Thanks for great video as always, i learn alot mutation on you 👍
Glad to help
Just a question, I get all this - it makes perfect sense. But what if I breed a female with 20 mutations with a male from a completely different lineage with 20 mutations?
That's usually what you do at the end when you are done trying to get more mutations and want the stats on one dino
This was a huge help thank you😊
So I got a mutation on a creature after a lot of breeding, but it was a female. Do I now just breed with that until I get a male, then switch to using only that male with clean females?
You can breed the mutated female with a clean male to get a new male with the mutation.
Most useful video yet. Great job.
Glad it was helpful!
breeding the messed up male with it's clean mother doesn't really fix it while the males counter was under 20.. under 20 on the males side leave a 50\50 chance for the desired stat to be mutated by either the male or female or rarely both (double mutation). by "fixing" the messed up male by moving all the mutations onto the males side with a clean female but having the counter go over 20 you essentially rob your breeding line of getting mutations from the male meaning the only mutations you get will come from the female side. hardcore breeders will encounter this anyway when they breed upto stat cap but having that 50\50 chance in the beginning can speed up the mutations. better to go back once you realise you messed up and keep it clean. other than that as an experienced ark breeder i'd say you explained it rather well
Yeah I get it, but that's still very confusing to explain to people who are still learning breeding and how mutations work. Once they get into doing it themselves and understand it they will dwelve into the main maxing to progress it faster
@@ConCon yep i've tried to teach mutation breeding to many and always end up pointing people to videos because it's hard to explain more than once. your video will now be one that i direct people to should the subject ever arise again. you explained it well
@@UnacceptableViews Thanks!
This was an amazing explanation! Can you make an in-depth video on why you shouldn't breed health and melee mutations on the same male at the same time?
Its just slower if you're unlucky
@ConCon i guess you don't need a whole video for that, but that make since with what i kept finding 😅 thanks!!!
Yeah it takes a lot of patience to mutate
Yeah sort of, you can pass count the mutation counter of saying it has 7 mutations but NOT actually have the mutated stats
@@ConCon thats really useful to know for when I can finally get ASA next week so thanks
I bred my 2 clean rexes and got a female with a melee mutation. Can i breed that female with a clean male to try for a male with a melee mutation?
Yes
That's a very good video, pal! But what do I do when I get 20/20 on male side, how to stack mutation on the female side?
You don't stack mutation on female side, only male side. It goes over 20/20 like 21/20 then 22/20
@@ConCon Thanks for the reply!
Great video, thanks for posting
Glad you enjoyed it
I know this video is already a month old, but I have some questions about fixing a mistake I made while breeding. Currently using 1 male baryonx and 4 females all with 1 mat and 1 pat mutation. I accidentally killed my original female with 0 mutations. What would be the best way to fix this and get back to having all my mutations on 1 side? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Tame new females
So wait what if you get a mutated fm could you breed it with a non mutated male then a male with those stats could you then breed it with a non mutated fm?
Yes you can try your luck there too. Just don't confuse yourself
I'd seems like this was well explained. It seemed good, but this was stuff I knew about from other videos on ASE and trial and error.
Yes
So when getting mutations if you get a male with the correct mutation you want but the mutation came from the mothers side of you breed that male with the PF the mutations will correct back over the males side correct? Or can I only use mutations from the fathers side.
Either side is fine until fathers side is 20/20, then you need new mutations to land on the matrilineal side.
So, in resume it is bad because you are filling the counter of mutations and you are actually not getting any increases on the stats. Am I right?
Yes
This game gives me a headache.. thanks for the clarification though, good video
so if u get bad rng and always get the good stats on ur female babies...u just r hooped? or can u do this backwords? wherever u get the good stats on, u just stack on that line instead with clean males?
You can do that to try get a male with the good stats yes, but you can only make 1 baby at a time as that female.
Okay
Wait so what do you do with the one female with mutation in order to keep the mutation going down the line? Do you breed with a clean male and get another son?
So what do I do if my mutated male that I bred with 0 mutated females gives me another mutation that I wanted, but it’s on a female???
@@blaydeplayz4727 make it breed with male to get stats on the male, if I understood good but after that use the male that will get the stats and not mutated females dont keep the mom
Right so it only matters if you want the number to be accurate on the line to how many mutations you have? If you fix it, you still get mutations anyways but the number is wrong. Also if that’s a feature. That’s horrible. I’d assume it’s a bug yet to be fixed/ changed
Not a bug, mutations spawn stat increases and one colour change BUT they are not linked after that. Just how it's always been in ark
Thanks for explaining that so well ❤
You're welcome
So let's say I get a male with 20/20 mutations in melee on the farther side is that it then ? Or xan I keep going to get more mutations and will they count ?
You can keep going more, as long as you breed with females without mutations and the new mutations land on the 1/20 side
@@ConConso is the glitch back? How long before they patch this again?
So should i tame two low level wild dinos and start breeding? Or one high one low?
Does not matter, if you have the best ones already start there but if you still have low ones you can get a headstart before you find those high levels
Also make sure yall have 2 identical male and females when you start
You will know this when the levels of your new male and female baby levels are identical.
When those identical mate pair have a baby with a mutation the baby will be a higher level (so u will know off the bat what baby has a mutation)
Yup that can help a lot to track mutations
This is impossible for me to do unless I start with level 4 or 12 as those spawn the most…SP
The counters didnt mean a thing in asa. Just keep breading till you get the stat increase or color you wanted. Didnt matter what the mutation counter said
That is incorrect. Those counters definitely worked the same way in ASE
After you have 20 actual mutations on the father, it doesnt matter anymore if you exponentially increase the mutation count. In fact, theres a reason that you SHOULD aim to increase this number as fast as possible, and i have yet to see any video that explains the mutation underflow mechanic
You still need to keep one side clean though
And what would that reason be?
@@leoserino7496 Mutation underflow. Easiest way to explain it, when male has 20+/20 it halfs the chance for new mutation. If you increase that number as high as possible it will overflow and go negative, meaning it doubles the chance for new mutation again
Fantastic vídeo mate, got a new flower 👍
Awesome, thank you!
so i just go breed willy nilly and go tame a random wild female and just move everything over to the males side and keep going?
That's very unusual
@@ConCon Thank you much! This clarifies the whole process. And the other question was answered in your recent mutations video too. Thanks again!
You can breed it with a clean male, and try your luck getting a new male with the mutation
Does breeding for negative mutations work the same as on ASE? If you got it to negative you could get stat mutation on both sides again
yes, but youtube thinks stacking is the only way. It should be but WC has still not checked for the negative yet for, well reasons.
It should but I haven't seen it yet
Im not sure if I messed up my argy line. Had 2 wilds, bred them. Baby was a female with a patri mutation. Bred that female with another male with no mutation, and ended up with a male baby with 2 mutations, one on matri one on patri. Is that male good to be my stud or is it missing mutation stats because it came from a mutated female?
That male is fine, just need to breed it with females (without mutations) to continue passing down mutations
@@ConCon that's awesome! Thank you for the reply! Looking forward to future guides from you!
Well explained. Thanks 👍

That is exactly correct
Can we have 20 and 20 mutation on both sides ? Is it possible all of them hoping to go in melee
You can but you can get thousands on one side if you keep the other empty
@@ConCon yeah after watching the other video of your mutation one I got that answer
I have one question you only keep sons with Mutations and keep breeding with 0/0 but what If you get a female Baby with the highest Mutation you Just kill it, use it ? Or can you Transfer them also or its Just Always keep sons.
Ty
Unless you can change it's gender to male it creates a lot more work
