I tell myself that I am capable of being my own best friend, lover, and soulmate. People are not worth getting to know anymore. Staying to one's self is one the greatest decisions I could ever make.
First disagreement with you T. When there are mean people coming at you in the workplace, I say avoid contact or drastically limit it and use no emotion in any necessary interaction.
Such people feed on your emotions and signs of distress.
Those few people who tormented me were so toxic and nasty (all female) that I wanted no interaction or contact as all, let alone extending them kindness.
It is funny that most of these types would not allow me to just ignore them. They sought out contact to continue the abuse until it became clear that I wanted nothing to do with them.
These were dark triad type personalities who saw niceness as weakness.

Dealing with coworkers can be challenging because you have to see these people everyday because of your livelihood. What I try to do now is to avoid eye contact, look straight, look away. And keep my words few. I do my damn best to make sure that I am not around a lot of folks.

I experienced this kind of treatment 34 years ago in my work to the point it caused me a lot of distress. I ended up having to transfer. It worked out for the better.
THE BEST WAY TO DEAL THESE KINDS OF PEOPLE IS STAY AWAY FROM THEM AS FAR AS POSSIBLE AND/OR IGNORE THEM UNLESS YOU ARE BEING PROVOKED AND YOU HAVE TO DEFEND YOURSELF, IF ANYTHING BREAKS LOSE, WELL THEN DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO TO PROTECT YOURSELF...LESSONS LEARN...

Harassment and constant verbal abuse should also be dealt with if the person has physically hurt you before. When someone disrespect me I disrespect back when someone hurt me I hurt back.
Before I left my previous job I had a coworker that would get upset just for ASKING to use a permanent marker which was required for the specific job we were doing at the time. I asked politely, and her reply was "WHEN I'M FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".... I tell you, good thing i had self control, because I was 99.9% ready to go off on her. This is why I am a serious person, and will refuse to take other peoples $^*& in the future. Blame society! I'm not going to waste my time being nice to others. I'd rather mind my own business, get the job done, and move on.

I got fam that will randomly be mean, suddenly very cold and very nasty. I have stood in a room in which three mean people insulted me and laughed at me, and disrespected me, even randomly came at me to be violent and threatened me though I never did anything wrong to them but ask them to stop disrespecting me with telling my business and insulting me and leaving me out of things I am intitled to be involved in.
Same. It’s your own blood that comes at you when you act your best with them.
It’s difficult for me to be nice to someone that has snubbed me, been mean and disrespectful.
The best thing to do about that is stay away as much as you can and do not confront them. Let any authority deal with it. If it gets out of hand that’s there nothing left to do except stand up for your self but still depends on the circumstances

Tyler a fam of mine has hit me pushed me and knocked me down out of no where without me insulting them or doing anything but asking them to stop disrespecting me with insults. well I told them if they ever hit me again and keep being mean to me in my house, I would defend myself, well they didn't listen, and recently they kept jerking me after they kept being mean and lieing on me, abd I keep saying please stop jerking me, and when I pulled them off they came at me and kicked me in my stomach so I came throwing fist so fast they couldn't get a hit in, then they tried to claim I was abusing them, as if then jerking me around and kicking me in my stomach don't matter, and all the disrespect before. That was the straw and so I left them and my entire family, since they are excusing the abuse. I will hurt someone now if they put their hands in me and hurt until they know to never do it again.
You're the best. Thank you. You always say the right thing and I know intellectually what you say is true. It's not always easy. I can't help but constantly wonder why a person is treating me mean all the time if I never did a thing to them. Maybe it's true that people who act this way are really just crying out for help. Um tyler I did what you said, I spreaded lots of love to several mean people but they took advantage of it and got meaner. Tyler demons are real and they don't care if you show them love, it actually pisses them off cause it hurts them. My husband was one of the people and he eventually started ignoring me because he couldn't take that I was being kind while he kept being mean. Well his ignoring and cold distance broke us up finally and I just said nothing and moved on and is living my life alone now and soon in my own house by how far he is going with his meanness. He goes from mean mean mean to nice nice nice and the relationship is bipolar, so I rolled. Tyler, people can yo yo you when you get nice.

A place where you going to come accross with this type of situation quite often is high school, I'm becomning more sure that collective public schools should be ended. Its not easy to deal with this kind of situation when you are an adult , imagine to deal with it when you are a teenager.

Every time I go home she lets her pitbull out so he can attack me, she knows I'm afraid of him. For the past week I've been hearing her cry in her room at night probably out of guilt. I could not image capping for or sticking my neck out for someone willingfully, mean to me. I see this behavior as too passive and codependent behavior. What ever problems a mean person has encountered is not my problem . The best thing I can do for them is suggest they seek professional help.You cannot change someone, they have to be willing to make a change on their own. The best way to deal with these kind of people is to protect your self; handle them with a long handle stick. Stay away, just imagine that they do not exist, until they put their hands on you.

My back neighbour is definitely a demon, psychopath, narcissist and sociopath, they are so loud in their shitty back yard, they threatened my cat with death and they have also sworn over the fence into my garden whilst I was sunbathing. They stalk me yearly and I am weight training just in case they threaten me with physical violence. These people are definitely energy vampires. I use the term the darkness must always come to the light.

I tried to forgive and do kindness to one particular person i had feelings for. She wanted nothing to do with me and didn't need my forgiveness. That's fine by me because I can't stand to be around toxic people who can't see how they're wrong and project their shame onto me. Bless and pray your enemies ? I got a better idea. How about no contact? Since they're so content in treating me like I don't exist, why should I be any different? I may forgive but I dont forget. I can't because what she said scarred my psyche. So now, I rather not have her in my thought or prayer life. Because if I did, to me it's casting pearls before swine.
My TF has past issues probably parental abuse. Right now we are separated. I know he's hurting from past trauma. I am kind and loving to my TF.Change in person. That's what I am hoping. God will do. Of course,yea. So will my TF will come back. I'm learning.

KILL THEM WITH SILENCE, kindness don't always make them change, just meet my fam and you will see, you will try and try and then say f it and roll like I did. I tried to tell my husband that if he doesn't stop he is going to bring mean karma to him in the future. I am praying for him, cause he doesn't know any better. He is so mean and his mom is sneaky mean, that I once tried to invite him and his mom to read a nice family passage from the bible and waited until I was alone, I came at me with rage! as if he was a demon and I threw holy water on him, yet they all claim to be religious and love to tell me to go to church with them and do church stuff.
