I know I get hypertechnical sometimes, but I have one note here: growl is actually only the vocalising/humming into horn technique.. The tongue rolling stuff is called “frullato” and sounds a little different (e.g. in song by The Revels: Comanche - the begenning is pure growl, in the second line from like 0:10 the tenor player adds the frullato into a growl). But from a methodical point of view, you did a great job explaining how it works brief and simple 💪🏻🎷 Love your Vlogs too, you have many great insights of a gigging musician, keep it up! ❤
try not to. your emboucure should stay the same the whole time except for miiinor changes for the lower and higher register. dropping your jaw isn't bad but there's more of a chance you go super flat and we dont like that :) hope this helps!
Amazing video. I was able to get a “baby-growl” on a concert B flat from this video while it was still playing. 🫡 I’ll keep working on this for a solo I have for Concert Band Assessment.

Nice video ^_^
I appreciate it:)
Is there any extra tips you have for an intermediate jazz tenor
alfalfa
Wow thanks you’re the only person 😂😂🙏🏻
@@FoolishFrankie I was pretty surprised no one else had done it yet!
can you make a video about how to play altissimo?
Honestly, I’m not good enough at altissimo to teach anyone how to do it😅
@@FoolishFrankie Yeah you are! You're altissimo sounds damn good. What size reeds do you play on?
I have Jazz States MPA coming up so i would love some tips
Practicing consistently every day for a short amount of time is better than practicing for many hours once a week!

Hey thanks so much for watching!
I think i learnt this by accident by dropping my jaw slightly on tenor. Should i be dropping my jaw?
try not to. your emboucure should stay the same the whole time except for miiinor changes for the lower and higher register. dropping your jaw isn't bad but there's more of a chance you go super flat and we dont like that :) hope this helps!
My BRAINNNN, it just doesn’t do ittt
Edit: did it for half a second and then it disappeared, I have hope!
Yessss you can do it just be patient!!
@@FoolishFrankie patience isn’t my forte but I gotta flex growling on my section leader lol
