8:50 I only just realized after watching this episode 5+ times... Celestia made pancakes with pineapple on the second day. Why is that significant? The fact that the first time Luna came in for breakfast she grabbed a pineapple and headed off to sleep. Celestia was trying to make breakfast Luna would appreciate more. We obviously knew Celestia was trying to make breakfast for her sister as a kind gesture but the fact that she made pineapple pancakes was a visual and non-verbal queue to suggest this. I'm sad I didn't notice this until now but that's an incredible detail.
It could also b Inkrose’s theory of evry major villain from the series up until that point got loose and Celestia couldn’t stop any of it

yeah, i remember a story called "context" on Fimfiction where Discord said something like that happened. he also told them that ALL the alternate realities Twilight saw still exist, and took them to the one where Twilight saw Flim and Flam! i also read one where alternate-Starlight stole Celestia's cutie mark, causing the sun to go wild.
Nah common it's obiesly Trixie future, where Starlight teaches her magic, and than doesn't become her marefriend like we all ship them, only for Trixie to go an a great and powerful rampage
The reasons this is one of the if not THE best episodes of the series is: 1.) Celestia is getting more and more characterization! She's always come across as a "Mary Sue" but we learn it's because appearing cool, calm, and collected is part of her job. Turns out Celestia is actually only good at ruling Equestria which also explains why she's been so useless when the Mane 6 face a problem. She's a politically correct diplomat and bravery/boldness is not her strong suit. 2.) "Lesson Zero" Twilight is best Twilight! 😄 3.) Luna finally gets the credit she deserves from the show and we see how difficult her job is every night! She's appropriately the opposite of Celestia and is brave, doing her job alone and solely responsible for controlling nightmares so it doesn't effect their psyches?!?! #mindblown 4.) The little dream bubbles were amazing! I don't care if it was pandering or not! Derpy w/ the twilicane, baby AJ with her parents...it all makes me a very happy fangirl! Lol. 5.) Twilight as a ballerina on a music box was an insanely creative way to show Twilight's mentorship through comedic relief without having Twilight so involved that she took the spotlight off Starlight! 6.) Starlight's overpowered cutie mark powers were finally used for GOOD! 7.) DAYBREAKER!!!! Seeing the dark side of Celestia was AMAZING! All in all, the writing and characterization was brilliant and def one of my favs! 10/10
I'll disagree on celestia being ONLY good for politics and lacking bravery, we've seen her take up arms before, both in the show and expanded canon, and while she has lost sometimes those were usually very stacked decks against her, such as the magic-eater her own or the overcharged changeling (even chrysalis was surprised at how strong she'd gotten from that love, and if you read the comic it's REALLY clear why). I generally think of her as running damage control during crisis, or preparing extra aid, so that her champions can focus on directly solving the problem (we even see the alicorns doing clean-up after rarity's rampage with the book so it's not that out there). that said I agree with you on everything else, and it was a fantastic use of the old adage "heavy is the head that wears the crown", she's not miserable or anything, but she has to be outwardly perfect because the entire kingdom sees her as a pillar of stability and reacts badly when he does. the sisters are also wonderfully diverse, but both ironically fall to the same problem, failing to see the subtitles and inner workings of their sisters sphere of influence, because, well, how would they? They only meet in the morning, and even then luna's exhausted, so they couldn't really talk about it, the sisters needed to actually experience what it was like to understand the other.
My favorite thing about this episode is that a big part of why the map sent Starlight is straight up that she's the only one crazy enough to screw with the princesses like that XD
Another reason I think the map sent her alone, is so her anxiety could produce that dream and show the sisters some higher stakes. It would have been easy to say at the end of that first day, "I get it, your job is hard, but so is mine!" Starlight's nightmare was a wake up call to get the problem sorted out now. And as this guy suggested, it's not impossible to think this exact scenario is what led to Nightmare Moon. Starlight's anxiety saved the day. XD
pretty much since this is literally an MLP version of Freaky Friday save with sisters instead of a mother and daughter but same results apply. Both needed to see what it's like being in each other's shoes to appreciate the efforts each plays and that taking care of all of Equestria as Celestia does is equally as taxing as watching over it at night completely alone. Neither is less then the other for both are great arduous tasks. Celestia has to govern a nation but she has ponies to help her to delegate what needs doing and how. Luna on the other hand has to fend off talk to and reassure those who have nightmares to see where it's coming from and why and has to do it all alone to ensure their subjects wake up refreshed rested and above all ready to confront what they need to during to the day should such a thing be needed *is hinting at Scootaloo telling RD her fears of her stories and Sweetie Belle confessing to her jealousy over her much more experienced older sister*.
That made realize one thing: The two did not found a way to deal with their problens that is not having an argument with the risk of one of them turning into an evil entity that has to be jailed god-knows-where for a thousand years.
I believe Daybreaker was not Starlight's dream, but Celestia's. She could have formed because Celestia isn't used to entering dreams and wouldn't know how to avoid combining her own into it. I see Daybreaker as a manifestation of Celestia's negative traits, her occasional pride, thinking she knows best, and neglect for Luna's feelings, magnified and without her positive traits to balance them out. Daybreaker is Celestia's shadow, a concept in Jungian psychology that represents the traits we suppress and deny about ourselves, or even project them onto others instead of seeing what we dislike about ourselves. Just like Luna had the potential to become Nightmare Moon when she was overcome by her envy and loneliness, Celestia could become Daybreaker if she turned evil and was overcome by vanity and the belief she was above all others. Daybreaker could be Celestia's dark side and the doubts and fears she has over what she could become if she didn't restrain her power or care about anybody other than herself; she fears what she is capable of and what she could be willing to do if she became drunk with power. Celestia might have even dealt with the temptation to do so in the past and fears what she might have become if she hadn't been strong enough to resist. Does that make sense, or am I just rambling? Also, I loved your reaction to this video. You are one of my favorite reactors when it comes to MLP and I really like how you notice and understand all those little things in the show and add those notes in your videos to let us know what you think and that you understand things without needing to interrupt your reactions to spell it out for your viewers.
There’s a great fanfic called “I Daybreaker” which I chose to believe is cannon, and it basically characterizes Daybreaker as an ever-present voice in Celesta’s head, constantly pushing her to give into her darker impulses…Scribbler read it on her channel, and I HIGHLY recommend giving it a listen and/or read
Nightmare Moon vanished instantly when Celestia destroyed them. Daybreaker - her dark alter - DID NOT! There were those few seconds where she was trying to resist, then her body went; the last thing to vanish were her eyes! That made me sit up and pay attention. Could Daybreaker be a newly formed ENTITY rather than just a dream-thing?!
Curious. That seems entirely possible. Maybe there's something else stalking through dreams, observing and collecting power? It could of course also be just because Nightmare Moon had been dealt with before, and Celestia had to deal with her won issues took a bit longer. I however prefer the first one. That has insane paths of possibility branching off of it, especially with Daybreaker going head to head with Celestia. in a very direct manner.
I think Daybreaker was actually part of Celestia's mind rather then Starlight. Celestia's own fear manifesting within Starlight's nightmare. It would explain why she was specifically talking to Celestia 18:07 kind of like Midnight Sparkle and Twilight.
"Deep inside you know how powerful you are..." And that's why she's always 'useless' in the finales and premieres, this series would've ended in 10 seconds flat.
My headcanon is that Celestia made Luna's powers go haywire when she entered Starlight's dream, she couldn't control it properly and she kinda infected Starlight's dream with her own fears
Yeah, that's kinda what I'm thinking happened as well. It only makes sense, given that while Nightmare Moon was very quiet and seemed like a poor imitation of the real thing (and thus was part of the dream), Daybreaker seemed quite alive, and directly addressed and provoked Celestia herself. I can imagine Starlight perhaps dreaming up an evil version of Celestia, but that level of interaction seemed like something more was going on.
Fun fact: The "teeth falling out" thing is actually a common stress dream. It usually means that you're anxious or insecure about something. Or feeling sexually inadequate. I love Daybreaker's voice acting! You can tell Nicole Oliver has been wanting to play a hammy, evil Celestia for a long time XD
Oh yeah, I guess she kind of did there. Still would be fun to see her do it a bit more often. She could totally pull it off too, being the troll that she is. XD
Applegeek You're reaction to Celestia's nightmare version was PERFECT!! Also, have you heard of Celestia's OTHER Nightmare Version? Magmare Sun? If you haven't, look up the name so you can see what she looks like; I'm pretty sure that you will love it. You can also look on Deviant art for a brief summary about how and why she was made.
I think they did the cutie mark swap the way they did because if the moon alone was put on Celestia then you wouldn't be able to really see it since it is a white moon and Celestia is white. So by taking the black markings then you would be able to see the moon on Celestia's flank. That makes the most sense and probably why the animation team did it that.
Actually Celestia coat is not Pure White, it is actually a VERY Light Pink. But yes, the reason they moved the black markings along with the Moon, is more than likely to make it more noticeable while on Celestia.
Yep, I failed to think about that. I wasn't wrong though, as it's still a continuity error. I think they could have worked around it by simply giving the crescent moon a simple black outline, but that wouldn't have looked as good.
@@applegeek2597 I actually heard a theory that a black splotch was a leftover from Luna's time when she was Nightmare Moon (since before transforming, she didn't have it, just the moon) and thus in theory moving it like Starlight did literally moved the scars from Luna to Celestia, which is just an insanely nice way for Celestia to show just how hard Luna's job is, having to literally keep her own corrupted self in check aside controlling nightmares (for Luna, that was Nightmare Moon while on Celestia, that would be ... Daybreaker).
@@GoldieMethrans This also explans why daybreaker within starlights dream specifically talked to celestia and took longer to be destroyed than Nightmare Moon when Celestia dealt with them.
Starlight: The spell last 24 hours, it may be a little extreme, but I still think it's a good idea Celestia: What? You do know I've sent Ponies to the guillotine and had their heads mounted on spikes along the southern wall for less right?
The reason they had to make luna's black rump part of the cutie mark is because that moon is white and so is celestia. There's a slight hue difference but it's not enough for the mark to be shown enough for a tv show. She'd have looked basically markless if they had only transfered the moon. Wich version of luna's cutie mark is cannon at this point I do not know, but they had no choice but to have it this way for the purpose of this episode.
Yep, I failed to think about that. I wasn't wrong though, as it's still a continuity error. I think they could have worked around it by simply giving the crescent moon a simple black outline, but that wouldn't have looked as good.
I'm hoping this means that eventually the CMC will be called by the map. All hail Queen derby!!! Chanting kids shaming you for mistake while your teeth are falling out trying to apologize, nightmares can be disturbing.
Well if one of the CMC along with one of the mane six (Or mane seven now, because of Starlight) I can see them doing it like that, completely possible. (Hopefully they do it, I've been wanting a Fluttershy and Scootaloo map episode ever since the map was introduced).
I love how historically unbalanced the princesses are; since Luna was banished way back when the founders of equestria lived, she acts more stoic and regal, while her sister Tia has aged with the centuries, meaning she tends to act less aristocratic and more modern, as she doesn’t use royal grammar like her sister did on nightmare night Edit: thanks for the likes, also here’s my fav part of the video 10:22
The reason Celestia may have found the moon easy to raise in this episode is because she actually had Luna's power and during the 1000 banishment she had used her own power.
Remember when I said that "Parental Glidance" was my favorite episode of S7, well this one took the cake and ate it(in other words, it's my new new favorite)! Not only another one of my wishes for S7 have been fulfilled but, we finally get to see the corrupted side of Celestia(Daybreaker) and great development for the royal sisters!! Also, really love this reaction.😉
16:50 _"The Doctor is trying to escape from a Weeping Angel"_ [Equestria: _"Time Turner is being chased by what is seems like a pegasus statue"_ ]. -> This creatures are extremely fast, but they are also "quantum locked" (static in place) whenever any other sapient creature [including themselves] is looking at them with their eyes (either directly or with a mirror). . As long as there is enough light to perceive them and you do *NOT BLINK* (or turn away your gaze from them); they can not move. This does not work through photos or cameras (30 pictures per second with 30 "blinks" per second). . They are indestructible while in their "quantum locked mode"; only degrading very slowly with the pasage of time if they are forced to remain like this (or if they get trapped alone in a barren planet or spaceship). . If they feel weak, they can choose to send someone they touch [usually from behind, so they do not see them]; to the distant past [instead of just killing], cursing them to die sometime before they were sent back (taking out this way all of their "agency" over history at current time as a form of energy).
Celectia probably said it was easier to raise the moon, 'cause this time she had lunar powers! It probably was easier for Luna to raise/lower the sun with her new solar powers.
Hey RampagePheonix, do you mind if I use Sinister Star in my fanfic? I may never end up posting it anywhere (pretty much improbable because I have like 10 diff fanfics from different fandoms and I work very slowly) but ya know. Writer's courtesy. The character will probably be a guy, though, because I have a very mean female antagonist planned already.
We need an episode with the parents backstory! And Applegeek is right, them trying to explain why AJ, Big Mac and Apple Bloom's parents are away instead of dead wouldn't make sense. I mean for Rainbow and Fluttershy it makes sense; they live alone, but for AJ she lives with her siblings and grandmother, her parents if they were alive should have been there.
This is the best episode of the season. NOTHING is gonna top this one. And your reaction, as always was priceless. You are my favorite reactor out of the whole reaction community. Also, if Twilight had seen Day Breaker, her head would have exploded. As for the cutiemark animation continuity issue. If only the crescent moon symbol had gone to Celestia, you wouldn't be able to see it on that pale flank of hers. Her coat color isn't a pure white, its a incredibly pale pink actually, to the point where it looks white. Still the contrast between that and the pure white of Luna's crescent moon symbol would have been so little that it would have been lost to the eye, except in cases of extreme closeups.
you would be correct. I try and stay away from spoilers and the like. Even so, I honestly can't think of anything that could top this right now. Guess I'll find out.
Yep, I failed to think about that. I wasn't wrong though, as it's still a continuity error. I think they could have worked around it by simply giving the crescent moon a simple black outline, but that wouldn't have looked as good.
15:36 I never realized that she probably didn't pull a double shift the night before she was up the entire night governing the dream realm and then the entire day doing celestia's normal work
20:56 Yup. "Working in the darkness to serve the light"---Assassin's Creed. I never really thought of why in MLP/Assassin's Creed crossovers, Luna is portrayed as the founder of the Assassin Brotherhood. I just thought nothing of it.
I'd say the thing about their manes is that they just flow while they're in the air, in a breeze so light that nothing else is affected by it. When Luna faceplanted, her hair was in contact with the table (which looked way roo detailed to be an animation error in my opinion). It's like her mane said, "Oh, nice, I get to relax for a bit".
7:52 Nightmare Moon was originally born more from the jealousy Luna felt from Equestria's populace 'playing and dancing in Celestia's day, while shunning her night'. It didn't seem to be entirely, if even mostly about Celestia, herself. Luna seemed to unfairly project her anger, jealousy and resentment from a day and age where everyone rose early and slept early, on Celestia. Whereas in this episode Luna's problems are more personal, directly correlating to Celestia's attitude and vice-versa.
The comedy, the feels near the end, the new ways the pegasi have used their wings, more quality facial expressions... Pretty much everything about it was great.
Hm. The only funny part for me was the singing door, I think. Didn't get any feels either (mostly annoyance), and I definitely don't agree that "pretty much everything about it was great" - I feel quite the opposite way. I don't think I can get over the fact that the parents were never called out for how insane and damaging their parenting was. Dash learned some rather irrelevant lesson whereas it was really her parents who should've learned a huge one (even if it's too late to be relevant, unless they have more kids). Their parenting is the kind that is legitimately bad for a child, and everyone thinks they're great and it's all fine. Like some people with "Feeling Pinkie Keen", I have a huge problem with the morals here. Plus, Scootaloo's fangirling was way too much, unhealthy levels of obsessive, way more than simple idolization. It was just not pleasant to see, because, just like with the parents, it's a sign of a problem, yet it's encouraged. I can't fathom how this episode could ever entertain someone more than "Rock solid friendship" or the first two of the season... Maybe better than "Fluttershy leans in" or "Forever filly", but the rest of the season has been better than these.
I think that Dash's outburst was warranted. Her parents were endangering the lives of ponies (the fireworks at the Wonderbolts show) and even disturbing a filly who wanted to get an autograph. I think that, however, Rainbow's parents did learn what they were supposed to. Windy said "it's a little, embarrasing" to Rainbow Dash. As well as the 3 of them cheering on Scootaloo for the report that she did. This is also justified, because Scootaloo said she never had anyone to support her, and I think that she wanted to get that kind of support just that one time. And it might just be me, but the episode gave me feels
44:01 well Daybreaker was a part of Starlight's dream the same way Nightmare Moon was so perhaps that meant Daybreaker registered more as a threat to the dream Nightmare Moon. plus when Nightmare appeared she could've been talking to Starlight specifically not Celestia. the only reason Daybreaker acknowledged Celestia is because Celestia was starting to worry as well and with Luna's magic it might have bled through
I DEFINITELY think we'll be seeing more of Daybreaker. (By the way, although I had never heard that fan-name before, I think "Solar Flare" is much more fitting. Definitely a great contrast to "Nightmare Moon"!) If anything, looking at it logically dictates that they spent time and money creating a character model for her. Of COURSE they're not going to throw that away. They created an entirely new personality and design, and they do love to recycle themes and villains. Not that I'm complaining; it fills me with a kind of nostalgia! Someone in the comments mentioned that she seemed to be "holding on" to the nightmare much more readily than Nightmare Moon. And you yourself said that she directly INTERACTED with Celestia, while Nightmare Moon acted... well, as a figment WOULD. Just very "straight to the point". She stayed "in character" to why she was in the nightmare to begin with. Because SHE ISN'T REAL. But Daybreaker... this was her first chance to really get OUT of Celestia. And what a character to be created by Starlight, hm? I just don't think so. I think she was definitely given her own will, so to speak, from this nightmare. I'm not sure how yet, but I have a hard time imagining that she won't be brought back for a finale in the future. Every character in this show has fought their worse nature. Even Discord has had to battle his inner demons when he was face-to-face with Fluttershy LEAVING him as his first friend. He had to realize the true stakes, and make a change. Celestia has had to battle with keeping her sister with her, and making her people happy. But she hasn't had to battle keeping HERSELF happy, as EVERY other main character has thus far, and that is what I believe will be the theme of Daybreakers return.
I had a feeling you would react the way you did for this episode. I was like that when the episode actually came on my TV screen. In fact, three hours after watching the episode, I was still freaking out over how good the episode was. Great reaction.
Just wanna say, I *REALLY* appreciate the extra text commentary you add to your videos. It adds so much and makes your videos stand out; your text actually answered several questions I'd had regarding this episode alone.😊 EDIT: Speaking of adding so much, I just got to 25:38 (I literally have it paused and am staring at the zoomed image right now), and talk about adding things...I *NEVER* knew that was there! Any no other MLP video commentary I've seen has noticed it either 😱
A.G. .... when you said, "Ooooooh, that ain't right....." I almost fell out of my chair LAUGHING! *ADORE* you and your reaction videos......I've seen every one of them and am hungry for MORE!! Hope to see you at this years BC!!
I took Celestia's "even easier than raising the sun" remark to just be her talking to herself about something she already knew, rather than saying she hadn't raised the moon before. Basically reaffirming to herself that she expected easy work.
I kinda believe Luna had her own backup plan; if Twilight failed with Tirek, then Luna, with the rest of her magic, will lead everything against Tirek... Perhaps with every other race Twilight and friends made allies with.
I learned from Big Jim a few days ago that Daybreaker is not really Starlight’s, but is actually from Celestia’s own temptations leaking into the nightmare. Something close, but that’s how he saw the scene.
REDBULL!!! IT GIVES YOU WINGS!!! XD XD XD side effects of redbull: 1. gives you *WINGS!!* 2. It makes you do funny and extremely excited horse noises! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have idea for my own episode: Spike and twilight will sleep. Spike will wake up and ,,post" twilight from celestia letter. Twilight will fly to canterlot and find celestia (spike was in twilight castle). Celestia will have problems with magic. When she grap with magic something, it fell down. Twilight go somewhere to find answer. *celestia sings*. Twilight will arrive. Twilight wasnt find answer. Celestia says she want make luna a little surprise. When they go celestias magic turn to orange. They will fly to to old sisters castle. They will decorate a old castle. When celestia be on platform. She acidently make hole in wall. Celestia will fall and her eyes glows. The sun will super shine and celestia turn to Daybreaker. Twilight will ask ,,how?" Daybreaker says ,,when she have the dream I was born, I live in her dreams and catch her powers. When I have a more power I waiting for perfect time. And now I destroy all princesis. And you twilight !" Twilight will hide and daybreajer try find her. The luna will come. ,,what is - DAYBREAKER !!!!" Daybreaker will see luna and try destroy her. Luna will see twilight and hide with Twilight. Twilight say ,,how we can defend daybreaker ? We havent got elements." Luna say ,,she more powerful than me and you, we havent hot chance ..... I MUST TRANSFORM TO NIGHTMARE MOON TO DEFENT DAYBREAKER !. Twilight say ,,WHAT!" and will be to be continued. Sorry when I write something wrong ;)
+AppleGeek I kinda find this thought of mine interesting. When a thousand years ago Luna felt underappreciated by the ponies of Equestria, but in present time she's appreciated by the ponies. So my theory is that Luna never watched over the dream realm a thousand years ago and only raised the moon and watches over the ponies, who were always sleeping back then. Luna, wanting to do more for Equestria like her sister, leading to her jealousy of Celestia becoming Nightmare moon in the process. When Luna returned she learned that her magic could work in the dream realm and decided to watch over ponies dreams and keeping them safe.
22:21 Does the fact that Luna had time to make breakfast imply that Celestia went on to visit other dreams after the Starlight Glimmer one she and Luna had seen together (and possibly battle other nightmares)? If so, no wonder she looked so tired.
Starlight's annoyed expressions when interacting with Twilight were great. It is almost as if there's some tension there that could lead to resentment and anger creating a Nightmare Moon/Daybreaker version of Starlight Glimmer. It's so obvious that's what will happen.
when luna speaks of possible consequences on starlight's psyche, it sounds like she's speaking from experience, as if she failed to stop such a thing from happening once, if not multiple times. if that's true, then who did she fail..?
Forget about Queen Chrysalis plotting her revenge at the season 7 finale because Daybreaker is coming and she will destroy equestria! My teeth are swords! My hoofs are spears! My wings are a firestorm! Equestria... You will burn! I AM FIRE... I AM DEATH...
In cannon continuity. If you recall the last world that twilight, spike and starlight visited (the worst of all) in the episode The cutie remark. It was desolated and devoid of life because its burned - Daybreaker's handywork? A sense of foreboding. So beware...
This episode was INCREDIBLE, my only complaint about it was I kinda wish Day Breaker and Nightmare Moon had a battle for real, instead of just in a dream. I think I'm just craving another episode like the Season 4 finale. Maybe we'll get a return of Day Breaker for the Season 7 finale?
Celestia’s comment about the moon could be explained by the fact that she has nvr raised JUST the moon. While Luna was banished, she was raising both the moon and the sun at the same time. This would cause further effort rather than less, explaining why she didn’t realize it was easier
Lunas job is still way more important. Celestias job is to just make a good impression and keep people calm. Luna makes sure everyone doesn't go completely insane, mad, and bonkers
Eh idk. Luna was gone for 1000 years and, while not ideal, it didn't ruin Equestria. Celestia literally runs the place. I love Luna and I think her job is really important, but I would absolutely not put it higher than running an entire nation.
Ya but her job must be really important if she was gifted with the power to go into dreams. The only power we have seen for celestia is to rad the sun. Though important... u would have to be pretty strong to enter the dream world
It really isn't. Celestia's job is about going through daily dignitary duties everyday which keeps her busy all the time. Whether you like politics or not, its a stressful job being a leader and maintaining a public and political image that gives the people a good peace of mind. As a ruler, Celestia needs to maintain this approachable, relatable and regal appearance about as much if not at times more than Luna. It takes a certain strength of mind and character to be able to look well and happy 24/7 even when you're not. Luna's work does not exceed Celestia's beacuse of it. Maybe at certain times but they are both equal in terms who does what and how important it is
my fave parts of this episode was the dream bit, it showed real common things happening in dreams, like Lunas teeth falling out, or Starlight falling in her dream. Both common bits of a dream, and the meaning behind it fits their character.
Wait ... Did Luna actually raise the sun in this episode? Because that would kinda contradict the comics when she tries raising it but collapses because she was too small ... :/
The comics are not official show canon, and they contradict the show a lot. That said, the show writers do borrow a lot of ideas from the comics and make them show canon.
+Applegeek True, but I sometimes think some stuff in the comics can be canon to explain stuff in the show, like what was Luna doing in the moon? How did King Sombra become evil? Is Nightmare Moon an actual demon or is she really just Luna? That stuff, ya know. And they were all explained in the comics so ...
Also, if it's the same day Starlight switched their cutie marks (which was in the morning when the sun was already raised) then no, she did not raise the sun
Wow, that’s such a small detail but it’s amazing!
I never noticed it! It's such a sweet detail. 💕 Thank you for telling it!
If I saw someone making banana peel flavored pancakes, I'd probably never trust anyone to make me breakfast anymore.
@@cutercills9x9productions9Can't you see the a-peel?
@@ShizuruNakatsu I do! And anyone that doesn’t is slipping up.
Also, headcanon, the "wasteland' timeline from the season 5 finale is a "Celestia snapped and turned into Daybreaker' time line.
Oh wow.....you could be right!

The reasons this is one of the if not THE best episodes of the series is:
1.) Celestia is getting more and more characterization! She's always come across as a "Mary Sue" but we learn it's because appearing cool, calm, and collected is part of her job. Turns out Celestia is actually only good at ruling Equestria which also explains why she's been so useless when the Mane 6 face a problem. 2.) "Lesson Zero" Twilight is best Twilight! 😄
3.) Luna finally gets the credit she deserves from the show and we see how difficult her job is every night! She's appropriately the opposite of Celestia and is brave, doing her job alone and solely responsible for controlling nightmares so it doesn't effect their psyches?!?! #mindblown

Kylie Jean thenically DAYbreak would be the bright side of Celestija
Season 7 is the best season. You can't change my mind.
@@black97_0 Big Smarts
@@black97_0 I kinda agree, I think Solar Flare sounds more evil.
My favorite thing about this episode is that a big part of why the map sent Starlight is straight up that she's the only one crazy enough to screw with the princesses like that XD
Yeah, they needed that so bad XD
+Journey Gotta agree there. That ultimate worse case scenario nightmare was definitely needed to get them to realize. And my goodness, was it epic. :D
Antroid you made my day 😂😂😂
Did Luna just eat a raw pineapple and a banana peel!?
Yes, yes she did. XD
Applegeek XD
David Fernandes Funniest bit(s) of the episode IMO.
Yep
David Fernandes and on next day Celestia make pineapple pancakes.

Celestia is finally A working Character
izzy daze Thanks to two episodes in this season, she has normal personality that isn't perfect, and it just add to how great this season will be.
Yeah, but she needed Luna's power.
And she's exactly what any reasonable person thought she would be.
+izzy daze She was always a working character. People just never realized it because it was never turned into an episode.
And I love it.
"You guys know EXACTLY what im gonna talk about first."
Daybreaker?
"The first possible sighting of applejack's parents."
...Oh.
We all know he was always been an Applejack biased jackass
I want to see more Daybreaker.
That’s a great theory
Nice theory! ❤️ Thinking about it, the fact that Celestia could have a dark side inside makes her even more interesting!
David Boucher maaaybe.... wie See Nightmare Rarity xD
David Boucher It's because we are always vulnerable to our worst instincts. It's easier to fight someone else's demons than it is to fight our own.
I think Daybreaker was actually part of Celestia's mind rather then Starlight. Celestia's own fear manifesting within Starlight's nightmare. It would explain why she was specifically talking to Celestia 18:07 kind of like Midnight Sparkle and Twilight.
Who knows? Daybreaker might actually be the FINAL and most EPIC villain of My Little Pony when the show ends! What do you think?
"Deep inside you know how powerful you are..."
And that's why she's always 'useless' in the finales and premieres, this series would've ended in 10 seconds flat.
That is so right
Hi im 2019
@Fortsy Hi Fortsy, I'm Creeper
@Fortsy Nice to meet you too :]
@That Grey Peanut I have this mental image of Celestia physically whacking someone with the actual sun
Applegeek Or maybe Starlight just reads a lot of fanfiction
Fun fact: The "teeth falling out" thing is actually a common stress dream. It usually means that you're anxious or insecure about something. Or feeling sexually inadequate.
I love Daybreaker's voice acting! You can tell Nicole Oliver has been wanting to play a hammy, evil Celestia for a long time XD
15:37
Luna says to Starlight, 'Goodlight, Starnight.'
celestia did use the "royal canterlot voice", but only once, in the episode LESSON ZERO
Oh yeah, I guess she kind of did there. Still would be fun to see her do it a bit more often. She could totally pull it off too, being the troll that she is. XD

@@deltainfinium869 Yeah, as Celestia didn´t have the experience of needing to fight and contain that taint unlike Luna.

thats wrong
Applegeek and it still woul be a continuity issue
I'm hoping this means that eventually the CMC will be called by the map.
All hail Queen derby!!!
Chanting kids shaming you for mistake while your teeth are falling out trying to apologize, nightmares can be disturbing.
Well if one of the CMC along with one of the mane six (Or mane seven now, because of Starlight) I can see them doing it like that, completely possible. (Hopefully they do it, I've been wanting a Fluttershy and Scootaloo map episode ever since the map was introduced).
They actually did get called in an episode called ‘Surf and/or turf’
You preditcted the future.
I love how historically unbalanced the princesses are; since Luna was banished way back when the founders of equestria lived, she acts more stoic and regal, while her sister Tia has aged with the centuries, meaning she tends to act less aristocratic and more modern, as she doesn’t use royal grammar like her sister did on nightmare night
Edit: thanks for the likes, also here’s my fav part of the video 10:22
11:29 "Okay, Celestia is REALLY peeved"

Character development for the sisters. The two princesses are finally acting like sisters.
Best episode of season 7so far.
The reason Celestia may have found the moon easy to raise in this episode is because she actually had Luna's power and during the 1000 banishment she had used her own power.

Whew. I would walk everywhere with like five mirrors in all directions strapped to my body.
I did wonder if that was supposed to be a Weeping Angels reference, but I wasn't sure.
Celectia probably said it was easier to raise the moon, 'cause this time she had lunar powers! It probably was easier for Luna to raise/lower the sun with her new solar powers.

yep..sadly we dont see their faces but man...just seeing their hooves...
SpacialRend7 I missed that. I'll have to go back and check after this video is over
Teh Foxxy hey, can you delete this comment, applegeek said he did not want to know when it happened, and sometimes he looks in the comments.

I'm just imaging that Nicole and Tabitha trying not to break into laughter in the booths while recording these
20:56 Yup. "Working in the darkness to serve the light"---Assassin's Creed. I never really thought of why in MLP/Assassin's Creed crossovers, Luna is portrayed as the founder of the Assassin Brotherhood. I just thought nothing of it.
24:00 it was at that moment spike knew....twilight stole his toothbrush
I'd say the thing about their manes is that they just flow while they're in the air, in a breeze so light that nothing else is affected by it. When Luna faceplanted, her hair was in contact with the table (which looked way roo detailed to be an animation error in my opinion). It's like her mane said, "Oh, nice, I get to relax for a bit".
S07E10 is my favorite episode.
7:52
Nightmare Moon was originally born more from the jealousy Luna felt from Equestria's populace 'playing and dancing in Celestia's day, while shunning her night'.
This episode dethroned Parental Glideance as best episode of the season and second best episode of the series.
funcoolfunfun I totally agree with you!
I still don't get why people like Parental Glideance at all, let alone THAT much. What was so good about it?
44:01 well Daybreaker was a part of Starlight's dream the same way Nightmare Moon was so perhaps that meant Daybreaker registered more as a threat to the dream Nightmare Moon. plus when Nightmare appeared she could've been talking to Starlight specifically not Celestia. the only reason Daybreaker acknowledged Celestia is because Celestia was starting to worry as well and with Luna's magic it might have bled through
Yeah, the bleed through thing is kinda what I think might have been happening there.
Couldn’t agree more

THATS WHAT I KEEP SAYING MAN

R.I.P. DayBreaker. One more mighty antagonist was wasted! >
22:21 Does the fact that Luna had time to make breakfast imply that Celestia went on to visit other dreams after the Starlight Glimmer one she and Luna had seen together (and possibly battle other nightmares)? If so, no wonder she looked so tired.
Yeah, I wondered about that myself. The timing there doesn't line up at all.
Real question, who wants Day Breaker to be a real villain
Starlight's annoyed expressions when interacting with Twilight were great. It is almost as if there's some tension there that could lead to resentment and anger creating a Nightmare Moon/Daybreaker version of Starlight Glimmer. It's so obvious that's what will happen.
when luna speaks of possible consequences on starlight's psyche, it sounds like she's speaking from experience, as if she failed to stop such a thing from happening once, if not multiple times.
if that's true, then who did she fail..?
I think it's Snowdrop
17:42 rest in peace to those who listened through headphones/earbuds on high

This is one of my favorite episodes of season 7!
Me when I saw the way Luna looked at Celestia at 6:20: me and Applegeek were both thinking the same thing SHE NEEDS COFFEE STAT
to be fair, I assume the raising the moon comment was a sort of sarcastic aside Celestia decided to make
Webs SOTE well maybe while Luna was in the moon in those 1000 Yeats it moved in its own? i mean...like an timer
derpy with the twicane is the best moment of this episode!!
Rj Gonzalez Actually issue#51-53 in the comics ties in with the season 7 finale
I wish
and nightmare moon
16:54 In "The Cutie Re-Mark - Part 2" a reality in which Derpy ruled was proposed but was cut as it took away from the tone
Okay I wasn't expecting an episode where Celestia has an evil side.
Starlight:I know why im here
Appleek:Really
Celestia:Really
Me: good answer🤣🤣💕
Day breaker: you could abousolutly turn into me DAYBREAKER!!!! My friend: get the gun... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Me, a guardian: why not turn her into a gun?
23:16 - say whatever you want, but it was so cute when Celestia ran her hoof through Starlight's mane like that
*Episode 1;2 & 10 this so AMAZING! **#STARLIGHT** RULE!*
*Daybreaker*
Hmm... I wonder if she´s a reference to _"Dawnbreaker"_ from The Elder Scrolls series?
24:31 hmm. now I'm paraphrasing: "~God damn it, Luna~"
SERIOUSLY APPLEGEEK THE MEMES ARE HILARIOUS XD LOL 😂
Celestia’s comment about the moon could be explained by the fact that she has nvr raised JUST the moon. While Luna was banished, she was raising both the moon and the sun at the same time. This would cause further effort rather than less, explaining why she didn’t realize it was easier
Lunas job is still way more important. Celestias job is to just make a good impression and keep people calm. Luna makes sure everyone doesn't go completely insane, mad, and bonkers
They are both important for different reasons; you can't really say one ponies job is more important then the other because it isn't fair.
Though important... u would have to be pretty strong to enter the dream world
So her job must be very important for that power
5:47 Tara sounds like Timmy Turner 😂
Well, she did voice Timmy Turner.
12:23
Starlight - "He's gonna think I'm nuts"
Twilight - "He's nut the only one
But Rember she had Celestia's magic so she could raise the sun no problem.
