This is a very useful video, I only wish it were in higher resolution so we could really see all the very fine details of burin work that are referenced. Is there any chance of the Clark uploading a sharper version, perhaps?
This is a really helpful video, thanks. I have just bought what I think is an engraving by A. Cardon ( after Phil Wouverman) and am amazed at the work gone into it.
I honestly thought he did these on negative plates, I thought durer's mastery of wood carving was unreal, it still is fantastic, but achievable within a lifetime I guess :)
Some of his prints are woodcuts such as the `Life of the Virgin` series but plenty including the best known were engraved in copper, the level of fine detail in Melencolia I as seen in the video is impossible in wood block printing
