This was the first 5 nations match that I attended at the grand old age of 11 in the course of a school trip from Dublin to Wales. My friend flogged his ticket and I had to run the gauntlet of some slightly the worse for wear home supporters on my own. Plus we lost. Not one of my better memories.
I like this time ... no-one resembles Arnold Schwarzenegger, they are all wearing normal shirts with collars and no advertising graffiti. They all have long socks rolled up to the knee, and black boots. And the game is exciting ...
I always enjoyed welsh rugby about seventies or eighties especially. I am a frenchman, it is true, but it reminds me of the great games played by the Welsh that I saw on television at that time. I think it is very good to watch matches of the five nations tournament on the internet. Ahh when rugby players had normal bodies, some slightly paunchy & some man boobs courtesy of several flagons of hooch & others just ordinary. Wearing shirts that even a elephant couldnt destroy. Then Jonah Lumo thundered in & now bodies made of Panzer tanks & skin tight shirts. Progress. Sort of.
I remember this match being annoying from the Irish point of view, beating everyone then sucuming to Wales and losing Triple Crown and the Grandslam...little consolation though, they won the championship

Correction. The title was shared with France. Had Wales won the final game in Paris, they'd have taken the title
