What a peaceful, and relaxing afternoon. How fortunate you are to live in such a beautiful environ and close to the Spokane River. PS:, a little tip: A large toenail clipper set makes a cleaner and safer line cutter than a folding knife. Tie one with a line to your fish bag or vest, and you will always have it handy when fishin'.
you would have made a great mountain man back in the day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love your videos and I have fished and hunted more that you & Steve's ages added together, a true outdoorsman
What an Awesome video, Finally !!! Great to see you out there on the water Sam. You always provide us with relaxing and informative tips, fun catches, and delicious meals. Nice to see you hanging out with friends and taking us along. 😍👊
Add a little crawfish scent to that NED rig give those fish a little scent to munch on! Enjoyed this video after smashing some rainbow trout ice fishing today
thank you so much for not adding music to the video! finally someone with a brain making a video! the music destroys most of the fishing videos on youtube like 99% of em... awesome video bro!
Hey man, love your videos. Live in eastern Oregon but went to school in Spokane. You do an amazing job of showcasing the region and your skill. Thank you.
that "wild" you caught was actually most likely a hatchery that was miss-clipped. The beat up dorsal fin is a tell tale sign it came from a hatchery. happens when they rub against the concrete pens they live in, still have to release them i believe but none the less a great video as always. keep doing your thing my man!
Another great video. We have a place up there, past Hunters. Last week we went over to shovel 3.5 feet of snow off the roofs before the rain hit. Hunting and fishing paradise.
Love trout fishing, we use to put a stale miniature marshmallow on hook first then a portion of night crawler and it floated above weight and trout slammed it at Lost Creek which was a reservoir and good size Lake in the Northern Wasatch mountains Utah, ty for sharing!
So awesome to see you guys fishing in those winter conditions. Being from the Texas Gulf Coast area that type of fishing is definitely on my bucket list!
It’s not that cold yet if you can still use braid lol. You have to switch to mono once you’re fishing sub 28 degrees. I will fish open water where every cast is frozen eyelets and the walleyes will still be hammering!
Nice job, great day with a friend n good food. I'm retired and fish with powerbait alot. One of the things I see people do is having their fishing rod almost straight up in the rod holder. I always have my rod at 45 degrees or less. When your rod is pointing practically straight up it outs an extreme angle on the line going through the barrel weight. The fish feel that. Also once I cast out I reel in 2 to 4 turns every few minutes. I swear the trout just stare at it and by moving it I get strikes within 30 seconds to 1 minute. Recently I was fishing from shore on lake Roosevelt by hunters. There was 16 people there all with their rods high in the air and never realing in. Those 16 people caught 2 trout and I limited using the same gear. It was a slow day. I also lost 2 fish that day. Fluorocarbon leaders are the ticket, fish can't see it.
The powerbait that I usually use and have good luck with is the chartreuse. I have also had luck using salmon eggs. Awesome video, guys! Happy New Year!
Last year my son and I went fishing for the first time in the winter and it was so cold and absolute miserable experience that we have not gone out this winter but watching this give me the itch. Lol
@@georgesakellaropoulos8162 we will go back out,we both love fishing. I have been fishing since I could hold a pole. There were a few other things that made it a not fun experience but the cold didn't help, my buddy that we met out there forgot to bring wood for a fire. Lol
Yellow power bait with glitter and garlic scented works great. I bought 2 cases. From E-Bay for $20. 6 in a case, and I use 4 lb P-line and a #16 or #18 trible hook
I have found with that power bait if I don't expose the hook tip a little bit I tend to lose them more but I am usually using a single hook. Think I'll try a treble next time! I also put a bit of garlic oil on the power bait and they can't resist it! I also like the chartreuse and that red white and blue! Anyways! Those are some nice fish! Thanks for sharing!
In the winter during the daylight the water temps are warmer along the edge in the shallows because of the sunlight. At nighttime the edges cool faster so the fish move back to deeper water. Hope this helps!
I had that same shimamo reel for my salmon set ups way back then... dont think shimano makes them anymore... come to Wisconsin take you whitefishing during the winter in sturgeon bay
Tell your buddy it's not lazy fishing it efficient fishing especially when you're a harvester and how you feed your family. I would love for him to say that to all the Cambodian old men that fish the lakes over by me that they are lazy, when their mission is to feed their families.
@@NWoutdoorsadventures I stated "providing for a family". But to say it's lazy fishing, then anything you use to attract the fish is lazy fishing, unless your jumping in the water and try grabbing them with your hands. I don't see anything about it that is lazy, your still having to figure out leader length, bait color or type, is they are out far from shore or if they are near. your still putting in that work.
When you’re in doubt that there’s a fish on the line, pick up the rod, hold it and reel in the slack. Once you do that, you’ll be able to tell whether you have a fish or not because the fish will either take off with your bait or you will be able to tell that it’s only the water current that’s taking your lure. One last advice: I notice your hesitancy. Don’t think twice about it. Just reel and do a sweeping hookset. If there’s nothing on the line, just throw it back out there. The fish aren’t going anywhere and you’re less likely to lose fish this way. Hope this helps!
Loved this video, the trout looked really delicious, makes me want to wet a hook down on the Little Red River here in Arkansas! We have some awesome trout fishing here in either the Little Red River or the White River! You should make the trip out sometime, you won't be disappointed! God bless and keep you safe!👍👍
Was common practice for my father in the 1950s and early 1960s to scale trout. A popular folding knife of the era that was specifically marketed as a "fisherman's" knife featured one thin blade with a cutting edge, the other was toothed for use as a scaling tool. I don't know if my Dad's practice was a carryover from his youth in PA where he caught mostly Bass and pan-fish, or if there was some other reason he did that. I do remember that we always fried our trout and ate the skin. I can't recall ever seeing my father fillet a fish. By the time we fished some streams in Olympic National Park in the 1970s, Dad no longer bothered scaling his trout.
There is very little food for the fish in the winter time so they are cruising the shoreline looking for things that have fallen or been blown into the water. They probably do not look at it that way, they just know that is where the food is.
Wow are your allowed treble hooks and two Rods from shore? , In British Columbia its single barbless hooks in rivers only , in lakes most allow barbed hooks except lakes protecting other species,Any Dolly Vardens or Bull Trout and Cutthroat in this river ?

This was beautiful...A couple bros spending the day catching fish!!!
The heads on trout are the best part. They're like mini salmon heads. Add a hot pink Blue Fox spinner to your tackle. My go to lure for rainbows.

Well done! Bank fishing is my favorite. Thanks for sharing. Ontario Canada
Seeing a mallard duck gobbling down fish offal is a new one on me!

Nice! A great day Fishing with a Buddy! Water to clear and calm for natives to hit. Wonder what a wet nymph might catch. Fairwinds!
Fishing sounds about the right thing to do now to pass the time.. good stuff bro.
we love fishing there! always a great place to relax:) Great video man!
Nice to see the water
orange color and yewoll chease is the best for me
sherbet is good for winter
sunshine yewoll is good for spring
Hey Samong! I took some pics of two muledeer bucks in that Fort Spokane campground last month on our way home from the late buck hunt.
Pick up a box of nitrile gloves @ Home Depot. They'll keep your hands dry. I use them all the time fishing in cold conditions...
I second that idea. Works great for cold weather activities!
Last year my son and I went fishing for the first time in the winter and it was so cold and absolute miserable experience that we have not gone out this winter but watching this give me the itch. Lol
Reevaluate your gear and go out again. You will figure it out and it's well worth the effort.

Great nature, wonderfull water and wheather. And nice fishes. What can a man want more. 👍🙋
Would love to see you go after walleye in one of your videos in the future.
Thanks for the videos
Beautiful place to fish and camp.
Looks like a blast! Great video and very nice trout. Happy New Year....tight lines in 23

Beautiful! This is a great alternative to ice fishing.
I might hit up that spot! I haven’t been fishing since summer. I’m looking forward to 2023 summer for walleye and catfishing
That place is just beautiful, haha we have nothing like that in the SAN FRANCISCO BAYAREA
Catching up to your videos, you should winter camp and do an over nighter, u never know, u might just get sponsored and get a jackery

Garlic yellow marshmallows are a hit as well ! Caught a few like that not far from there .good times w the Mr heater!
Merry Christmas Samong.
That’s a good spot to fish I took my daughter there awhile back and she caught a 3 1/2 pound smallie on a ned rig
Set the hook Steve
I tried haha 🤣 was a little rusty on the first one
Love you guys!
Great to see you back fishing. Just went today myself out at Dworshak lake in Idaho caught 3 out of my 6 fish in the 3 hours i had.
I appreciate you Samong!

Might be efficient, but its still lazy fishing . No one stated anything regarding providing for your family. That is exactly what we try and do.

for me, i love fishing for trout… i mainly use inflated night crawlers for trouts, never goes wrong..
Do night crawlers work in winter?
@@gregh4284 i use them all the time all season
Have you ever tried a floating trout worm with a size#8 or #10 aberdeen hook? On a similar rig to what you're throwing? It slams the trout.
3/4 onz fire tiger crocodile my friend I've told you several times... Slow role in slack water burn and bump in fast
That’s some nice fish you got!
there was a female mallard that used to meet the boats coming in at gate 8 Quabbin Reservoir. It would gobble down shiners
Awesome View! Great Catches. Have you ever fished on the Lower Snake for Steelhead?
beautiful weather
Great video! Awesome scenery!
The corn sented is my go to for powerbait.
I use chunky cheese for trout and I have a lot of success. If you are interested in trying a new flavor
