My 20 year game ended with an elite group of soldiers destroying the last void base on the map. For this last base, I decided to install Powerful Faction Bases, a decision that would lead to the death of almost all of my fire team. The fire team was lead by a man who had been there since the beginning, a former glitterworld soldier by the name of Kristoph. He had been through everything: the meat grinder that had been the first strike, the retaliatory raids, the counter-strikes afterwards. It all lead to this final base assault. After years of fighting against the void menace, the fireteam had assemble a smorgasbord of devastating weaponry. It almost wasn't enough. The raid occurred at the dead of night on Jugust 13, and opened with a firing of doomsday rockets and concentrating bombing of anti-grain warheads. It had taken a good chunk of their forces, but not enough to prevent the slaughter to come. The mutant enemies you have to fight are absolutely nasty in melee, and I had the misfortune of not killing them fast enough. In a span of 20 seconds, half the fire team was missing torsos, heads, and limbs. Kristoph's son James was the first to go down, his head crushed to nothing by a titan. Kristoph himself lost an arm trying to save another soldier who was struggling to get ripped to shreds by an amputator. A second bombing had given my forces enough breathing space to regroup and win the day. A group of ancillary colonists arrived in a second transport gathering the dead and dying. I ended the game with the burying of the dead, and the final construction of the monument dedicated to the colonists that were lost in this bloody conflict.

They’re planning on making it so the weapons can orbital bomb targets without having to use another mod. The whole reason they didn’t do it sooner is because of it being “too op”. I’m quite sure if you have a ship already you’re already well off enough to be OP even without a orbital bombardment. But I do think they should make it so you’ll bring the attention of enemy ships faster by doing it.
Psycasts make quick work of bases, and most everything else as well. Shields, Skip enemies on to IED's, invisibility -> aoe rage and have them kill each other, etc. Easy, pretty safe, and repeatable.

The best way to raid settlement is to destroy their generator and attack at night, generally settlement generated with battery solar panel and generator attacking at night render their solar panel useless. More parts to dismantle
The best way to raid a base is literally hide behind stonewalls whit 3 colonist whit range weapon and 2 melees, shoot at enemy walls, sandbag etc they gonna start the attack go hide and wait then they will come 1 by 1 to his dead and like this you can raid a 20 enemy colony whit 5 of your colonist
Easiest way to raid a faction base is to use the psychic animal pulse device. Bring an attack group to the faction base that has a large carry weight. Cut down trees or ,bring wood, and construct a small barracks; often you can use a ruin or mountainside Place the war party inside and activate the pulser. Typically the animals wipe out the base and you can wait out the animals or finish it hem off. Bring enough supplies to build a cargo pod and launcher and you can harvest the area, butcher the animals and launch the loot to your base. The only difficult part of base raiding is logistics.
How I deal with bases with mortars is with android tiers mod I make dozens of cheap t1 androids and send them in drop pods into the centre of the base to swarm the mortars with cheap weapons. Once I'm done with that, just position them around and overload their cores to explode them before sending my main fighting force.
