A white teacher told me I was inferior as a black person to her and the white children who were my age when I was in grade 2 in South Africa. I was seven years old. I’ve experienced other forms of racism apart from that one experience. They started to affect me mentally and emotionally from the time I was 17. I’m 20 yrs old now and I’m getting better because I’m realizing hatred and bitterness is not a viable solution. She literally would crouch down towards me and whisper these things to me as a child. It was , is, and will always be pathetic!
Yeah that’s in South Africa, a well known failed state. NOT the UK.
That´s revolting. Thank you for sharing. If you´re not like that at all, it´s hard to imagine things like that exist. Wars, crime.. stuff like that keeps amazing me too, despite becoming of age.
@@111Econ this is not exclusive to South Africa, racism exits in the UK as well. Many Africans who reside there have their own testimonies about experiencing racism while residing there
@@giannamokoka8212 it exist everywhere in the world but it is not tolerable in society in the UK. No one truly cares if you’re black or white or brown or yellow - it is quite evident in UK government. The well known issue is people coming to the UK promoting their racist agenda and problems.

Motorsport is a capitalist gentleman’s sport. You see all the rich white drivers who are sons of rich businessmen walking in their race suits to the track. Lewis rocks up with his dreadlocks and all his swagger and style expressing his individuality. It’s a massive **** you to the system and it’s so powerful. A true icon to young people.
I see some media calling Nelson Piquet Racist; and it s totally not fair cause that slang is not used for racism.
As a Portuguese guy knowing lots of Brazilians who say that I can tell you that its not related to racism at all, a lot of people say it in a greet way or as addressing someone like saying say mate or guy, bro or whatever slang is normal these days.
I ve seen a lot of times Brazilian white dudes calling other white guys as neguinho, its not related to racism at all; like Portuguese guys call others as maluco meaning crazy, means the same as bro, its just a way of addressing someone.
In the context that Piquet used the word in was racist so stop trying to defend it
@@vrylongethwood5568 u just don't understand that is a common slang between Brazilians. Even white people call white people like that, its like a bro or mate.

I'm hate mercedes dominating, but I really like and respect Hamilton.
Imagine being one of the kids who called names to Hamilton when he was young
Now the kids who called names to Hamilton they keep living in their father’s house in the basement

I loved this part. The longest he's featured in all of the drive to survive's 3 seasons. Can you guys focus more on him next season? It's absurd watching a show about F1 and not have it centre Lewis in any capacity except talking about race or when he's had a bad race. I appreciate giving the other teams their moment in the spotlight too, but c'mon.. Lewis hasn't dominated the sport for almost a decade only to be a footnote in a show about F1. You couldn't get away with doing that in the schumi era. Tell the full Lewis story. He's a brilliant racer, but has bad days too. That he wants to change the world and cares about others. Waiting to see how you frame the 2021 Silverstone crash between Lewis and Max. I dare you to make Lewis the villain Netflix. I DARE YOU

for me it's always like, how can a white person tell a back person that they should stick to the sport, like man you haven't experienced discrimination because of your skin why being mad because of someone using HIS platform to make a difference such as Lewis?
Lewis might not be my favorite driver but i have massive respect for speaking his mind.
U white?
I use to dislike him but he's actually quite humble really
You can argue that he is where he is today because of racism. Overcoming these barriers is what leads to greatness.
You could argue all kinds of crazy stuff. Doesn't make it true. He was treated as a star even more so because of his ethnicity. More people know his name than any other F1 legend because he has been promoted more than any other F1 driver.
@@cliffordrandell735 He sure deserves it
@@cliffordrandell735 yeah no .... according to the numbers he is the best Racer Of thos generation that is why he gets more publicity than others.
Plus obviously his Race is in the lime light... you know because he is literally the first Black person in F1.(and sadly still the only)
@@RANDOM-pi7wk Why is that sad? It is what it is. There is nothing stopping black drivers from racing. There are more Black stars in the NBA and NFL. Is it sad that other races aren't represented as well? No.
@@cliffordrandell735 obviously it is .... There is a reason why there are more black atheletes in NFL or NBA and that is mainly because you know that is the only way out of a life of poverty for them. Not to mention the amount of white athelete aren't zero or one they are still enough diversity.
But obviously it is sad ... It is common sense , just one Black racer? In years of its history? Plus obviously there are racial barriers in F1 that prevents Black racers from entering.
it's not fair for people to be discriminated because of who they are. stop pretending that this is not an issue. just because it happened so many times does not justify racism. not everyone is as strong as other people are. there's nothing wrong to bring this issue into the limelight.

I've been called the N-word on multiple occasions. Some after finishing well above others in competition, and some out of pure intent. But this is why I try to explain to someone...if u haven't lived this experience... don't tell us who have... How to speak about this experience. That's something called understanding. Which is still lacking judging by the viewpoints of many individuals
You do realize tho other people experience racism too. Difference is it’s acceptable for a guy like lewis to speak out about it and people will give him his time of day. OMG love this dude for seeing his opportunity in F1 as bigger than himself!!
I think if Hamilton would stop keeping a problem alive and would just race as if it's the most normal thing that a black guy is racing in F1 (which it is) then it wouldn't be a problem anymore.

We see the closet racism directed at Lewis in F1 nearly every week with the constant microaggressions from the presenters and pundits and the overt attacks from the media and trolls.
Thankfully Lewis see's what he's fighting for as bigger than him so he does not react to those microaggressions and instead sets an example by going out on track and winning which is the thing that hurts these closet racists the most.
Lewis is an excellent role model and is doing a fantastic job.

In my Thai village- people are judged by how dark skin they have. They are from same race & culture- how can this be Lewis? Tell a 10 yo black boy one day he can spend 3-5 yrs in training, then work 10-12 hrs a day for 11 1/2 months a year. If he can make the cut, he can go on GP weekends which is 14-18 hrs a day. I respect Lewis immensely, but I don’t know what he means by “Racism in Formula 1”. I mean, the drivers are from all around the world.
I may be wrong, but the way he is talking about this issue, I’m guessing it’s more related to colour than where he is born. This can be shown when he says “ when you’re told to go back to your own country when you’re in your own country”. I’m guessing he’s talking about colour. This doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s depicts the other drivers are being racist to HIM. Lewis is probably trying to raise an issue where people around him within f1 would insensitively say racist things and how reporters would sometimes also ask how he feels about being the only black driver. ( don’t mean any harm, just discussing)
