Anyone else think every "woman's" voice sounds like the narrator is channeling Grandpa Simpson?

Right?! It's especially annoying when it's a woman's screaming/yelling voice he's attempting to imitate. Visions of Grandpa Simpson flood the imagination every time😄

Only in this story would these characters survive. They are the quintessential people to die first.

I find that most apocalypse/zombie books are just an onslaught of one zombie fight after another zombie fight after another zombie fight, after another.... until you realize that you can forward the audiobook by several minutes and you're still in a zombie fight! I'd like to see the fights interspersed with other things, including character development.

There’s also “Zombie Road” series. Sure the zombies start off being the most problematic issue but as things calm down there is plenty of more story going on. There’s at least nine books in the series so there’s plenty to listen to. (It’s on UA-cam)

I quite like these books, very easy to follow even when not fully paying attention, but goddamn, what does the writer have with "slipping the clutch", It happens like 6-7 times in these 2 books, like it doesn't happen often at all, even with older cars that they can't get into gear.

You ever tried hurriedly changing gears when you’re in a blind panic? I can imagine it’s rather easy to not manage to change gears or to get into gear

    • @sethcoppercom
      @sethcoppercom 2 місяці тому +1

@@corinnefrusciante3706 i have and honestly no, maybe its because im European but driving a clutch really isnt hard and slipping a gear or not getting in or out of it, never happens, unless its a beaten down 1980s one with a lot of wear on the gearbox and even then past 1st and 2nd it generally isnt an issue.

I enjoy this line of stories. Thanks. I will watch further, but these certain things make me angry! I swear. Every good story is defined by believability... But they keep calling revolvers as pistols! Semi automatic rifles as military rifles. Fully automatic rifles and carabines as "military machineguns". I want to bite my tongue off every time I hear this. Jesus Christ! US people should have clear knowledge of these things! Beeing the most armed nation :-D . Im a central European, luckily not the Sissie Woke west European. So I know and own guns, even thou the guns, ammo and gasoline here costs 2-3 times more for the same thing than in the US. Jesus how these diletant and lame gun definittions iritate me :-D !

A pistol is a type of handgun with a barrel that has an integral chamber. A revolver is a pistol-type weapon with a revolving cylinder that holds bullets.

@@CreepyCat. No. I dont care what amateur wrote what on google or wiki. Frankly every jokel can write what he wants there. Definition is:
Pistol: Short firearm, using single bullet small caliber. Using chamber in front of the barrel. It can be semiautomatic or single action. Then it either uses action using gases to move the slide back to unlock barrel and recock the action, or it uses hand operated mechanical motion to fire, like bolt pistols.
Revolver is a different category at all. Its different by usage of cylinder as a chamber, detached from barrel, where action is based differently on rotating of said cylinder. Its either semi or single.
Thats from professional definition and I use czech law about firearms. Why czech? Firstly it doesnt matter, exact terminology is the same world wide. And then, because we have one of the top working legal firearms systems in the world. Unlike rest of the EU where just the notion of weapon makes EU snowflake people bleed from every oraface, or US where in some places people buy guns with very little backround check. Also word pistol is actuaelly derrived from our language ;-) . Oh yeah! From the gun we called "PÍŠŤALA" - a flute. Which was... Gun using muzzle loading principle to load back chamber, used in 1416 by Hussites so massively, as they as first ones in the history, used large firearms organized units and artillery under unified command - not first to use, but first to use in specialized, massive scaled deployment as specific units. They also invented "HOUFNICE" - Howitzer as type of artillery. Pope then created several books about why was it possble for Czech Hussites to crush 5 crusades if all European nations since 1420. There he transcribed czech word Píšťala like PISTOLA. And thus it ethymologically refers to a gun, where chamber is behind the barrel. Revolver was a ethymological meaning from latin REVOLVERE - rotation. As it uses detached rotating chambers.
It cant be pistol. As its not a category of pistols. Its like calling a pick axe as shovel. Pistols and revolvers, like pick axe and shovel, belong to sane category of: Short firearms. But that is all.
Its different mechanically, by ethyological meaning, by logic. Its not the same. I know what the hell Im saying. I dont need doubtfull internet wisdom :-D its usuaely wrong non the less. Go check some really good book.
People keep calliing swords as sabers, rapiers as cords and so on. That doest make it truth non the less.
And Im a cop my self, 8 years, first line strike unit. I was inspector of basic police department for 5 years but paper work isnt for me. I like beeing out and trained more. Im 1.st from the 4. levels of Czech SWAT logic. We dont use SWAT here. We have 4 lines of strike units. First the guys like me - you can compare our physical fitness minimal demands to army (silly 30+ pushups, 6 chin ups, 30+ general motoric test in 2 minutes (squat, pushup, stand, squat, lie on back, stand), 60+ sit ups in 2 min, 4x10m run slalome under 13 seconds, 1km run under 5 minutes, swim 100m under 2 minutes. With each level up it goes way harder. 2. line is SPJ unit. The 3. ZJ (strike squad). Last one is URN (even in my language it means urn for dead :-D, but its Department of fast deployment).
I can guarantee you, not even guys from URN care for propper naming. They just know how to use it darn well. Thus it doesnt mean that cop or soldier is using correct terms either :-D . No matter their professional level. As we PSH (first line unit) serve in 2s-3s having heavy gear, helmets, shield, MP5+MP7+G36C, are trained for cqb and our task is to be immediately at hand in a city to go against active gunner or big brawl atc. Usuaely we are 2-3 cars. SPJ (special order maintaining unit) is using higher army standards. They serve in whole unit of 30 per day and are at base belonging to a shire. They have more specialized gear for riots and rescue, dedicated medics, ropes, boats, grenade launchers atc. + Heavy gear like us. ZJ (strike squad) is also shire unit, but of elite standards, like special forces guys for police, insane demands like doing over 100 pushups + other stuff in short time limit, run 19 and 34 km in insane limit, do 60km in full gear within 10 hours... Crazy guys. They have what ever they point their finger. Explosives, machineguns, sniper rifles. They serve in 12 man unit. And URN is selection of the best from ZJ guys and they have 2-3 units of 12 for whole country. And luckily, you never see them so far. As situation is and was never so bad. Sometimes you see ZJ out, but not because PSH+SPJ couldnt do it. They just want to practice live at least 1 a month. URN is usuaely going with the army, in places like Afghanistan, as there is no work for them in my country, yet. Now the whole point of it... Even guys from ZJ are able to call Rifle Carabine as submachinegun. So... As I said... Not even the elitest killer mens he knows gun theory and definitions.
I do. Im gun Nut all my life. I would be even if I stayed working in a bank :-D . Trust me! Pistol is pistol. Revolver is revolver.
      End.

For God's sake. Cant anyone write a zombie story *without* every chick being described as chubby and frumpy, thin and attractive+ interested in hooking up, or woke+dumb+ annoying? It's immediately boring and takes the listener/ reader out of the story. But if you're into that, you'll dig this one. I recommend listening at 1.25x either way
Ugh. I was enjoying the story until the 3rd use of the stupid chick/hot chick/fat chick trope too early in... it's so lazy, stop already.
