YA ! Nicks a good teacher . Thanks man , woulda taken me years to figure out what you teach in minutes . Yes , VERY generous as are many great teachers here , thanks again all !
I first heard Alvin Lee while watching the movie Woodstock and never heard anything of him since then, but the tune of Going home by TYA still remains in my memory - 40 years later you share the techniques that make this song playable. Thank you - I cannot wait for the next lesson(s). Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
A great man past away... He thought how to express my feeling through the guitar. He thought me how to love the guitar. He showed me how to change the world... He loved it... R.I.P
I'll be 60 the end of this year. It was because of this Alvin, Jimmy Page, Johnny Winter, Rick Derringer, and a few others, I wanted to play guitar. Took lessons, read books, practiced and still got nowhere. Well, I wouldn't say nowhere. So I saw these on youtube and decided to try again. Except for the caloused fingertips, it all comes back pretty fast. So far, this is the best "I'm going home" lesson. Thanx. 👍
Thank you very much for posting this lesson, really good job. I remember seeing the Woodstock movie when I was 11 or 12 and enjoyed the whole show but Alvin Lee and Ten Years After.......blew me away. Never thought I'd ever get close to being able to play some of it. I still can't but getting closer.
Excellent teaching progression of the flowing riffs of Lee's fretwork,,especially the slow and faster phrases repeated,,,great teaching, understanding, and generosity of sharing your talent and vision of the guitar,,,this and Hendrix's Red House are two guitar pieces I have always been interested in,,,,thank you.
Also first saw Alvin on the Woodstock movie this past Saturday and the performance of this tune about reduced me to a puddle on the floor. I was just about to put all of my guitars and amps on e-bay, when I stumbled upon this lesson - alas there's hope! Thanks man!
thanks NickE2, this intro, and crossroads solo, it doesn't get any better. I've always wanted to play this (somewhat at least) and your lesson is awesome. Thanks again!
I like your method. More importantly, youre consistent with it. You play the lick, then slower, then slower again, then slower again. Then full speed with the following lick added. Beautiful!!! The only thing that could make it better is squeeze the tabs in there somewhere. But thats cool as is.
Broke my E string...tuning it down no less & didn't get a chance to try it, tempted to raid stepdaughters pack I picked up 4 her...ha! ha!..I' be bock....you vait heyah.Super cool! Great job! Next pick out Time Machine-Grand Funk Railroad. Pleayuz sir!!! Hell Yeah!!............A.C.
Nice job Nick, you got skills dude. Alvin Lee is the man. I'm sure you have heard Ten Year's After's first album from 1967. He was better than Clapton, Page, Beck, if you ask me. Only Terry Kath can can play at Lee's level to my humble ears.
what is a good guitar to start with? i want a les paul but my dad isnt gonna give it to me till hes gone and i dont want to wait. i dont know much about guitars and im not sure what the best bang for your buck would be. can anyone help?
I guess everybody likes that way so you should finish the whole song and no pitch everybody what's going on I'm really really really happy listen to you and I think I'm going to learn from you because there's a bunch of Bunga party Jose just talked and talked and they just don't do much thank you
@articflash I've seen them perform 7 or 8 times. I'm just playing what he created. The real quality is in his composition skills. One of the best ever...
I could watch this kind of stuff 24/7. Thanks for breaking the boredom of my mental illness.
