I weep every time I hear this song. As a father of two I remember the joy when my children came into the world, but how would I have felt knowing that they were coming into the world to be a sacrifice? This song so beautifully describes the human side of the Christmas story. Mary must have had so many unanswered questions - finally answered by watching her precious Son lifted high on the cross - still a young man. It had to happen, but how tragic for a parent who loved her son to watch him treated so cruelly and become the sacrifice for all people.....what a contrast of emotions.
A beautiful song about the close relationship of a mother to her son and the incredible circumstances knowing he was the one of whom the prophets spoke. The bond was strong between them both, imagine the conversations in their household! 😃Jesus showed his mother such love that even on the cross, when possibly all her family had left home, he provided for her. Matthew 19:26/7...When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, here is your son. Then He said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” So from that hour, this disciple took her into his home. The term ‘Woman’ in those days was a term of genuine respect. Gorgeous song ✝️🕊
@Graham kendrick Music. Just heard this song for first time at midnight today on TBN Sky channel. My word! What a song. This song is on repeat for an hour now as I weep for my sister who was rushed to the hospital on Christmas day for the C disease. Lord Have Mercy🙏🏼
This was sung by a small choir of 4 yesterday at our Good Friday Service: Reflections at the Cross. So moving, both words and tune. I hadn't come across it before. All those hints Mary must have had at the pain ahead as she watched her son grow up to the point of his death on a cross.
that bought tears!!!! beautifully written and sung too! I often think how it must have been for Jesus' mum! did she know how it would be to see her boy lifted high on that cross!
@@GrahamKendrickMusic Someone sang it at our church yesterday morning, and I just broke down. I think it was the sudden comprehension of what Mary had to go through as a mother. And what an amazing sacrifice Jesus made for me. Saying thankyou just isn't enough 😢
Heard this for the first time last year when my son's choir performed in he Carol service and made me cry, They did it again yesterday which brought me here. Beautiful. X

Mu favourite song for Christmas, right there with the old carols that speak scripturally of a Saviour who came to save a lost world
