I love your brutal honesty. You are absolutely correct on everything you said. Four in a row is hard!!. There was something about that first drive and not getting points that just gave me that bad feeling of this may not be our night. I still feel like this is a very talented football team, but there’s something not right for things to have gone as badly as they did in the second half. I like what you said during Whiskey and Wine as it relates to Perkins not playing the way Kelly let him last year, see ball get ball. Lol. If he is the coach we believe him to be then he should be able to adjust things and hopefully get us rolling. If not….. we’ll see. I’m optimistic, been a faithful season ticket holder since 1999, seen lots of good but also some bad.
As a fsu fan I must say we got lucky that first half. 2nd half we made great adjustments and just beat lsu but I wonder what the energy would have been like if lsu had a 23-14 or 27-14 lead coming out of half. Both teams had drops so that’s a wash but 😢what shocked me was that lsu couldn’t adjust on the fly, great preparation going into the game but once fsu started running a 2 back set lsu had nothing. Then they continued to blitz leaving CBs on a island, smh, Jordan Travis is like a 10th year senior, he doesn’t get rattled like he used to. LSU has the talent to win it all, but is Kelly up to the task? LSU lost imo because they got out coached at halftime
i dont think fsu got lucky the first half they just stopped making the mistakes they made in the first half if they didnt make those mistakes just like lsu made mistakes fsu wins by 14 more
LSU needs 4 Tune Up Games if they continue to play the way they do. They reminded me of the a_s kicking they took from Georgia in the SEC Championship, physically dominated.
It's been said that Keon wanted to come back home and LSU didn't offer him bc we had too many weapons in the receiver room. I, for one, think that was a strategic error.
@@CountdeMoney1 go look for yourself. He never received an offer from LSU....sooooo many my point stands. It's easy to say you didn't wanna go when you weren't even given the chance. So like I said, LSU made a strategic error in not offering that talented kid.

While I was wrong with my prediction, I had LSU winning 35-24, and it pretty much came down to one thing. Brian Kelly got out coached in the 2nd half. FSU made good halftime adjustments and LSU didn't have an answer for any of the adjustments and didn't appear to make any adjustments.
Brian Kelly messed up not taking the field goals it might have been different if it was 23-14 at half. out coached the whole game. And D-Line depth was tested without mason smith in the game and in the second half it bit y’all.
Good show. Good content and evaluation. Hope it gets figured out and you guys have a fantastic rest of the season. Always liked the product LSU puts out and the fans.

Yes last night was debacle, but it's game one, and I thought last years team overachieved ( had them going 7-5 ), and thought this year would be 10-3! Kelly will right the ship much like Saban, but my worry is minut to many, but our former DB coach just snatched the top number 1, or 2 player in Louisiana and it was the one area I believe will comeback to hunt LSU! Much like Frank Wilson, Corey was loved by many in Louisiana and that letting go is bigger than many might not realize!
LSU had a delay of game at the 2 that wasn't called I saw several holds from the LSO oline and a wr blocking hold on a play that refs later called a late hit on the FSU player expecting the tackle to be made before then and even then it wasn't much of a hit. Refs had a very bad first half .. every borderline aggression call went against FSU. The one on the first drive was ridiculous that gave LSU new life on that drive. Combine that with the drops and the bad decisions by the QB and that one stud on LSU's defensive line living in the backfield and you knew once the game settled in that FSU would start to separate. They are a very mature team at every position that matters. Can't believe how good that receiver is. Coach ham could use him.
FSU fan here. I really enjoy your content. It was an odd game because it felt so tight all the way up until the 4th quarter. I felt like LSU would win this game up until the 4th. If LSU had the typical 1st round picks in the secondary that they usually have, I think the game plays out differently. I think if LSU gets creative and schemes up some different coverages and can establish the run they can win out. Good luck this season.
I'm a college football and a Bama fan, so I watch and consume everything I can get during the season and off. I understand your frustration when it comes to dropped balls. I don't know what it takes to get receivers back to actually catching balls, but it seems to be an issue all over the place. Great show, and keep the head up - LSU and the SEC will be fine.
All of the FSU penalties were legit in the first half except the one on Jayden Daniels where they gave him him a baby push to the ground after the whistle. That's one of those like holding that could almost be called on every play. The play calling in that first trip to the Red zone with about six opportunities was horrendous.
Idc if he is too small to play the edge in the nfl but in college In the SEC he is clearly capable of playing the edge and dominating at that position. And we literally have alll 3 star transfers that never played SEC football or in the south(fl state not in SEC) and it showed, playing the edges on the d line. We normally have elite 4-5 stars athletes on the edge! And then without that pressure coming from the front 7 our CBs just suck and not gonna hold up simple!
DL played ok LBers and DBs especially DBs were not good at all…I know Perkins learning how to play LB but he was not productive at all and speight was not productive. 45 points..not over..LSU can still do great things this year but really depends on can the back 7 improve. If not will lose 3 more games.
Verse might have not had the stats, but just his presence made the team better. You had to double and chip him all night and that opened it up for are other players to make plays.
You “dominated” the first half…. You got stopped on 4th down twice. You were gifted 50 yards on one drive because of terrible penalties. Yes you played well. But dominated the first half?? LOL
They drug FSU up & down the field, nearly 300 yds offense in 1 half …& stopped FSU 4 series in a row . They take the chip shot field goals , they up double digits at half.
That is a true take. They should have killed them when they had the chance because fsu's receivers were open all night and Travis was a little rattled. @@jarret81
LSU was given 3 pts after a botched review took away a sack. They had seven tries at the goal line (with an unlimited play clock). They even had zero penalties called on them in the first half, could only come up with a 3 pt lead. Second half was called down the middle, and it was a beat down.
Yup that was way off! Prolly the best we group in the country is fsu! We know now! And lsu wr are not even top 10 group prolly top 25 maybe the way they looked yesterday! Nabers is not an elite receiver and will not be anywhere near JJ chase or even t marshall

I was at the game. Absolutely LSU could have had full control of that game in first half. I’m an FSU grad. My friends and I said to each other at one point in the first half that we should be behind at least 20-7 … and that’s if Kelly had just taken the minimum points (2 field goals not taken). And yes two huge drops by LSU receivers. But starting with the last drive of the half FSU seemed to go into another gear and LSU never matched. 31-0. Nobody saw that coming.
I tell you what saban is kicking those field goals getting those points play a position of strength. 3 points add up. Yes go for it sometimes but not all the time. Cmon
9:00 “The window was open, you just couldn’t walk through it.”…lol…oh, LSU walked through the ‘window’ at half time….it’s just that the room wasn’t on the ground floor. FSU guy here, but I like LSU, too. I just couldn’t resist commenting on the bungled metaphor.
Never in all my years of watching LSU aka, DBU.. Since the early 2000's, would I think the secondary would fall this hard. If you could count on one thing it's LSU's Db's would be great or elite... Now? Oh boy wtf
Im genuinely confused by your take! You started by saying FSU is clearly the better team, then you detailed how LSU dominated the 1st half and blew 2 redzone opportunities to build a massive lead....then you addressed how the WR's dropped multiple crucial, potentially game-changing catches in the 2nd half... You also said the secondary wasn't good then mentioned the majority of the big plays they gave up and how the DB's were there to make the play but the 1st round WR's from FSU were just too big... That doesn't indicate that FSU was clearly the better team!!
I’m a fsu fan and I will say lsu didn’t capitalize on their opportunities like fsu did. The turnover on down in the red zone and the drops are momentum killers. I think if lsu goes into half with a 23-14 lead, their energy is different at halftime. FSU played really bad the first half and lsu was prepared but lsu didn’t have a answer to fsu halftime adjustments. Norvell out coached kelly last night. Anyway I think talent wise lsu is a top 5 team, they got some dudes that I wished fsu had. Here’s the thing, I don’t think Kelly is a elite coach. Good coach yes but he’s missing something.
In most cases when a team loses it’s because they shoot themselves in the foot. In this game LSU played well and gave everything they had. The QB is still good. Still lost. Why? FSU was just better
@@EarlyBirdCraft ~ cut the bs...LSU played terrible in the 2nd half and had many crucial 3rd down drops!! They got to the redzone 5 times in the first half, 3 times to the 1 yd line, and only got 10 points out of it... The drops in the 2nd half was definitely a prime example of "shooting yourself in the foot"... LSU literally gave up in the 2nd half and it was obvious....stop fooling yourself!! That's not giving it their all!!
@@YorkX44before the last garbage time TD he was 21/36 (58%) for 272 (7.5 ypa) 1 INT. 37% of Jaydens 347 passing yards came on LSU’s first and last play on offense and ironically both were blown coverages by FSU. His passer rating goes from 116 to 141 with that garbage time TD. We will never how many first downs and explosive passing plays were left on the field bc this guy can’t read a defense or throw people open. When the game mattered he had terrible numbers.
Did you watch the same game we did? Jayden played well. He was elusive and accurate for the most part. FSU defense came to the field with one mission and one mission only. They wanted to get JD and scare and intimidate him. Because they know JD plays well when he has confidence. JD was pressured so much, he had no time to throw
No doubt FSU was on a mission to prove they back! Brian Kelly s comment was not what i expect from a coach with his wisdom and experience and just served to fill FSU with incredible resolve. He'll learn. I expect his coaches will learn. I look forward to much improvement from the tigers. Kelly's rep is on the line. It will be interesting going forward.
What even is this offense? Can someone tell me that? Yes..we are spread. We aren't a power run team like in the past. We don't have the hogs on the o-line to do that. We also don't have the stud RBs. We aren't a good RPO team like in 2019. We all know that Daniels isn't Joe B. No one is. What can you depend on when it comes to this offense? Our offensive identity is all over the place. Our offensive playcalling is horrendous at times. Daniels still isnt where he needs to be. Our skill players choke whether its the drops or fielding punts. The RBs arent game changers. And our o-line gets pushed around. Neither can be counted on to run the clock when needed or pick up a tough 4 yards. Our best runner is the QB. Who stupidly insists on jumping in the air whenever he gets the chance like he's built like cam Newton. On defense..yeah..our secondary is a mess. But i also watched our best player, supposedly, standing in the middle of the field all game..REACTING to plays instead of attacking. Ya know, what he has shown to do best!!!! This is an indictment on our entire coaching staff and its an embarrassment.
I keep saying it, it wasn’t the whole line! It the guards and the centers that sucked. Campbell and Emery did fine! Dellinger, Turner, and Frazier need to be benched. Also Lacey needs to be on the bench behind Chris Hilton
What went wrong? We had no run game. We have to put Perkins back on the outside. We must legitimately play both quarterbacks--Daniels has a very real and valuable skill set but he is not a complete QB, nor is he a particularly fast one in reads. Gotta play Nussmeier half the time at minimum. Design a few plays were both guys are on the field. Take the points in front of us--particularly early on. 6 points is wildly better than none (not to mention the loss of momentum). Above all we have to find a typical LSU running game. This game did not even look like LSU football
Losing to an excellent team this one thing, getting completely blown out, manhandled, and quitting completely is another. If this is Brian Kelly's history at Notre Dame, how do we expect this to be any different in Baton Rouge?
Man, fans are insane. First year he beat Alabama and won the SEC West. 2nd year lose the second half of the first game of the season and he is a bum. Wow!
With the roster now a majority of his players, you can't blame it on Orgeron anymore. LSU has had the "top transfer portal class" two years in a row. We see how much that's worth now. Our wide receiver group has been the most over-hyped and under-performing group on the team. Our blocking this year was much worse than last year. I am so tired of hearing how Brian Kelly-coached teams make a huge jump in improvement from year one to year two. Jaden Daniels can't be expected to carry the load and LSU having another 10-win season. Stop blaming Jaden Daniels. He can't trust that over-hyped and under-performing group.
As Nole, I think Lsu is a good team. Things didn’t ho their way for several reasons. I think you guys will finish the season with a good record. JD5 & that d-line is freaking scary. Also don't trip on Perkins. It's not hos fault he's being mis-used. If him & Wingo are on the line together with Smith as well 😱😱😱
Here’s my two cents. 1. The LSU coaches fell flat on their bum about hyping up the players. No cohesion, very little brotherhood, in short they weren’t ready. The buck stops with the head coach, by not 😢doing a positive atmosphere at all. The LSU team has players that know how to play the game, but no one stresses the positives. Next game should be a massive turnaround.
Of course u can say if everything went perfect lsu would have had a chance, but cant look at it that way because Fsu made just as many mistakes and had just as many drops. also gave lsu chunks of yards the whole first half because the refs made alot of soft calls and called like 10 penalties on fsu and lsu didnt get a single flag thrown the first half, even tho they were snapping it after the play clock had run out and everything lol
Im a Nole fan but i do like LSU, I do think LSU was a National Championship contender before this game... I still think LSU to be a National Championship contender. Jayden is an awesome QB. However the receivers dropped passes. We even had some drop passes. However SEC B1G want to invite us yet?
Matt yes I do think he is trying to prove a point with Denver, Stamps and whoever else. Lacy and Thomas were clearly having a bad game and all camp long BK and the media hyped up Hilton and Diggs. Neither one of them saw the field.
12:50 i haven't seen it but supposedly there's a clip of BK literally saying that the denver harris situation has nothing to do with the on-field portion of his game
You don't just "schedule" a week 0 game. You can't just move Nicholls to week 0. The NCAA gives a waiver for week 0 for teams that play Hawaii or play out of the country like the ones in Ireland (because of travel). Or they will grant a waiver for a high profile game like the Kickoff Classic.
You can't blame the kid I think every kid wants to do that but everyone can't do not have the talent I'm pretty sure he loves LSU but just wanted to see something new
Not hard to shut down FSU in the first half when all they do is pass which hadn't been their bread and butter. Also, lots of dropped passes equals passing the ball too much. Got to establish things at the line of scrimmage, not try to 'cheat' by just completing a bunch of downfield passes as a way to get quick points. And in case you didn't know, Brian Kelly NEVER had an offensive identity at ND except for when Chip Long was the OC. Otherwise it was always nickel and dime pass plays and maybe some long runs if he had a real decent RB.
That's is a beyond retarded take. The identity was run to open up the pass, and they did it well. Well enough to almost beat Georgia at ND, and we'll enough to stun LSU in a meaningless bowl game. Also we'll enough to dominate for years against ACC and Big Ten teams, with the occasional losses. The duality of "ND was never physical or good at offense" while at the same time dominating teams LSU can now not beat is crazy.
I still believe LSU's roster overall is slightly better than FSU's--and I say that as a Nole fan of 40 years! You guys didn't lose because FSU was significantly better in talent, you lost because FSU has a superior coaching staff right now and Norvell is probably the most underrated play-caller in the country. At half-time you guys were ahead (say thanks to Derek Anderson and the refs), so it was clearly the half-time adjustments that FSU made that were the difference. LSU will be fine and will be extremely good going forward, but I think FSU is in good position to return to dominance. They just need to recruit better at the high school level to match what they are able to find in the transfer portal.
They weren't legitmate calls against FSU, those flags were bs for the most part, also Keon Coleman would be your number one receiver. Enjoyed going back to back against LSU.
The question I have is what does Kelly see that we dont see? For him to make that comment we are year away for competing for national championship. Does that mean consistently or recuiting players that want to compete for national championship?
Jaden doesn’t need to be the starting qb for THIS team. Please someone ask Kelly to Get garret in. Turnovers be damned at least he’ll push the ball down field
You brought this on yourself last week when you told your fanbase that there isn't a WR on FSUs roster that could start on your team. Kelly didn't help his chances when he said he was gonna beat the hell out of FSU. 50% of FSU's roster got it out of the mud with Norvell during those down years... They are hungry, they want it more, and they will ride to the end of the earth for their coach. The half-time adjustments made by Mike and co-exposed Kelly.. Every time Kelly coaches in big games he hangs around until the better coach makes adjustments at half. That being said- LSU is still my pick to win the SEC.

LSU lost imo because they got out coached at halftime
i dont think fsu got lucky the first half they just stopped making the mistakes they made in the first half if they didnt make those mistakes just like lsu made mistakes fsu wins by 14 more
FSU was lucky? 🤣🤣🤣LSU was lucky FSU offense played poorly in first half, cause just w/ a good half, FSU put up 45 on LSU.
FSU was able to overcome its mistakes on deep balls to receivers Matt said werent good enough to crack LSUs top 2.
LSU needs 4 Tune Up Games if they continue to play the way they do. They reminded me of the a_s kicking they took from Georgia in the SEC Championship, physically dominated.
Almost the same score
It's been said that Keon wanted to come back home and LSU didn't offer him bc we had too many weapons in the receiver room. I, for one, think that was a strategic error.
There's literally zero weapons in that room after Nabers. At least out of the ones who've played minutes
Well from Kion himself that was not the case. So...
Keon Already said he wasn’t interested in Lsu so that’s false information
@@CountdeMoney1 go look for yourself. He never received an offer from LSU....sooooo many my point stands. It's easy to say you didn't wanna go when you weren't even given the chance. So like I said, LSU made a strategic error in not offering that talented kid.
@@Dre384, he never received an offer from LSU so my point stands. LSU made a strategic error in not even offering him. It's easy to say you didn't wanna go when you never received an offer. LSU's mistake is FSU's gain.
As an FSU fan, LSU winning the SEC and making a playoff run is still very much on the table.
I swear bro. Watching him constantly go for it on 4th down was like watching kids play Madden. Can't be leaving points on the field...
Good show. Good content and evaluation. Hope it gets figured out and you guys have a fantastic rest of the season. Always liked the product LSU puts out and the fans.

Everyone calm down, and look above at the trek the greatest coach in arguably all of football took at LSU.
Thomas and Lacy should be made to eat at regular student cafeterias all of this week on account of the dropped balls. 😂
“Keon Coleman or Johnny Wilson would not start on fsu”
Shoutout to my Opelousas native Keyon Coleman! So happy for him and his family to watch this amazing kid follow his dreams to NFL.
Not utilizing Perkins definitely went wrong. He’s gonna transfer
I wouldn’t blame him unless we use him in the same way as last year again
Idc if he is too small to play the edge in the nfl but in college In the SEC he is clearly capable of playing the edge and dominating at that position. And we literally have alll 3 star transfers that never played SEC football or in the south(fl state not in SEC) and it showed, playing the edges on the d line. We normally have elite 4-5 stars athletes on the edge! And then without that pressure coming from the front 7 our CBs just suck and not gonna hold up simple!
@@lsuronak1992 exactly
Bruh its one game💀
DL played ok LBers and DBs especially DBs were not good at all…I know Perkins learning how to play LB but he was not productive at all and speight was not productive. 45 points..not over..LSU can still do great things this year but really depends on can the back 7 improve. If not will lose 3 more games.
Verse was doubled and chipped the whole game. Why his stats were low.
LOL
Ikr😂 they were only 3 points up when they went to the locker room. Not sure what planet football he was watching. “Dominated by 3 points”🤣🤣🤣🤣
They drug FSU up & down the field, nearly 300 yds offense in 1 half …& stopped FSU 4 series in a row . They take the chip shot field goals , they up double digits at half.
FSU dominated 1 1/2 qtrs of the game ….they did what LSU had the opportunity to do in the first half . Difference is FSU executed perfectly.
That is a true take. They should have killed them when they had the chance because fsu's receivers were open all night and Travis was a little rattled. @@jarret81
@@jarret81 are you ok? Are you on earth?
A shorter answer would be to the question “What went right?” 🤦🏼♂️
They played FSU. That's what went wrong.
Faxx
LSU was given 3 pts after a botched review took away a sack. They had seven tries at the goal line (with an unlimited play clock). They even had zero penalties called on them in the first half, could only come up with a 3 pt lead.
Second half was called down the middle, and it was a beat down.
Saying FSU WR weren’t better then LSU is were you went wrong 🤣😂🤣😂
Yup that was way off! Prolly the best we group in the country is fsu! We know now! And lsu wr are not even top 10 group prolly top 25 maybe the way they looked yesterday! Nabers is not an elite receiver and will not be anywhere near JJ chase or even t marshall
@@lsuronak1992bro what are you smoking? Neighbors is indeed an elite receiver. You give him a jump ball 9/10 times he will come up with it. There were a lot of factors about 2019 that helped our receivers as well. We actually had a running game in 2019.
What they don't know is there are so many more after Coleman and Wilson that will make more plays as the season goes on.Really talented Wr room.

Totally agree.. 6 points left on the field in the 1st half. Those points could have definitely changed the entire game!
Now? Oh boy wtf
Matt you said a mouth full with that take💯
Im genuinely confused by your take!

So Jayden Daniels who consistently missed throws and held onto the ball all game long gets no blame?
Idk what game you watched. Jayden made some great throws. He did make the wrong reads on a couple of RPOs though.
@@YorkX44 he held onto the ball all game and he had a clean pocket for the most part and other than the 2 deep balls to Thomas never went deep
@@YorkX44Daniels suck 😂😂 he don't even try to throw it deep 😢
LSU’s biggest issue is named Brian Kelly. The man will never win it all. Didn’t most of his staff he asked to move from ND to LSU turn him down?
They should have left Perkins at jack lb. He was a non-factor playing middle lb.
Hey where can I get that schedule
Everything went wrong from the coach to the players . They got man handle 😂😂😂😂
Man, fans are insane. First year he beat Alabama and won the SEC West. 2nd year lose the second half of the first game of the season and he is a bum. Wow!
College football: the only sport where losing your first game essentially ends your season
That's right you cannot blame the Coach that had the greatest team for LSU in in the last 15 yrs
Nice job Matt
Jimmy's & Joe's...nice Bobby Bowden reference
I agree 1000% ab Corey bk should have kept him and the special teams coach
It was a thing of beauty, Kelly talking about crushing FSU! Yeah, there was some crushing that went on, alright! You had to love it!
Gotta keep it moving…clean up the errors and move forward. Another game is in 3 days
So we don’t run goal line or runs under center anymore
As Nole, I think Lsu is a good team. Things didn’t ho their way for several reasons. I think you guys will finish the season with a good record. JD5 & that d-line is freaking scary. Also don't trip on Perkins. It's not hos fault he's being mis-used. If him & Wingo are on the line together with Smith as well 😱😱😱
This is a gut 🤜🏾… Lacy experience should end today, let’s see other WRs who want to make plays. Where are the dogs man, nobody has a fight in them
Here’s my two cents.
Kelly needs to coach his coaches. Bad play calling and the defense didn't change in the second half .the offense showed no urgency and no aggression
FSU was the best team they faced. It might have been the best team in the nation. We'll never know.
Second half went wrong
Yeah I have almost no faith in LSU to win that game against USC after the last 4 seasons
"What we do today echoes in eternity".
This loss feels a lot different then last year. That secondary is so weak that it’s gonna lose several games for the tigers.
As a Noles fan I’m usually the one talking about how my team got dominated up front. It’s a breath of fresh air to see this team play 😃
OMG, you're right, forget the score, LSU was better. Let's just give LSU the win and have another Bud Light.
I got a feeling this loss is going to fire these kids up. They ain't quiters

Vintage Moscona’s! 💯🎯
