Home Affairs Minister have officially announced fraudulent charges against her mother for identity theft. A South African mother was a victim and couldn’t register her child.
🫡Keep it up my fellow South Africans 🇿🇦for being patriotic to your country and defending your country. Now may those who defended her citizenship come out please. Things needs to be done legally in South Africa because South Africans have suffered to much of identity theft, enough is enough.

Point of correction, South Africans don't have Afro-phobia, they are just Gatvol of Nigerians, qha! Mam'Sonto from Gomara, the most loved soapie in SA, is a Malawian; no one had a problem. The Beast, Tendai Mtawarira is a Zimbabwean-South African retired Rugby player who was celebrated by SAcans. Let's stop generalizing and understand that too many South Africans have been hurting and some are still hurting due to dubious actions caused by Nigerians. This is why people are Angry. I feel sorry for the girl who has been bullied, but I think she also needs to assure people that she is a 1st Generation Nigerian- South African who wants to address SA issues. If SA was Afro-phobic she would not have lived peacefully in Soweto for that long.

There is a larger issue here that everyone seems to be ignoring and South Africans are not really saying, maybe because they just don't know how to. Personally, as a South African, I don't have any issues with the half Nigerian lady representing South Africa, especially if she loves the country and she is a legal citizen. That is my personal view. At the same time, I think it is disingenuous to paint South Africans as xenophobic. South Africa is full of immigrants from all across the African continent. Some of them have been in the country for many years and have become quite successful, often at the expense of South Africans. The question is if South Africans are so xenophobic, why would all of these foreign nationals even be in the country in the first place? The larger issue that everyone seems to be ignoring is the rivalry between South Africa and Nigeria. That definitely is the biggest factor, and it seems to be quite bitter. It also goes much deeper than I actually realized. I don't think that Chidimma would have been responded to that way if one of her parents were from any other African nation instead of Nigeria. It's not that South Africans are necessarily xenophobic, as much as it is the fact that the rivalry between the 2 countries is deep. Consider how Nigerians responded toward Tyla when she won the Grammy award. All over the internet she was called all kinds of derogatory names while her Africaness was denied. Some even said that the whole of Africa should boycott the Grammies for giving the award to Tyla instead of to a Nigerian. Consider the continued hate they spew out toward Tyla every time she makes a move. Read the hateful comments from Nigerians every time she just randomly posts something on her social media accounts. These things create resentment in the hearts of South Africans who love Tyla so much that they would gladly go to war over her. Hardly a day ever goes by when Nigerians are not declaring their country as the "giant of Africa." South Africans don't actually care about being known as the giant of Africa. Because of this rivalry the attitude of South Africans only seems to be that Nigeria can have that title as long as they stay with it over there in West Africa, as far away from them as possible. Consider how South Africans would feel if Chidimma wins and becomes miss SA today, and Nigerians claim her tomorrow. Would that not make an already bitter rivalry much worse?

Sizwe, I hear you and you're spot on about the minister's lack of tact/wisdom when initially chiming in on this matter. But I'd be amiss if I didn't point out your impartial stance. The truth is, characterising this as "anti-black afrofobia" is, I'd argue, equally dismissive and lacks much neede nuance. How about you ask why there seems to be this perceived "anti-black afrofobia" and why this is particularly directed towards Nigerians?
The truth of the matter is that, most SAns are livid with the things (most of which are illegal) some Nigerians do in this country. The peddling of drugs, pimping, running of kidnapping syndicates, Yahoo boy activities etc are all negative contributions. SAns are sick and tired of the lack of action by its leaders in failing to address these ills and are sick and tired of Nigerians who conduct themselves unaccordingly. If you're going to speak on this matter, please be fair to both sides of the argument instead of taking 1 side and seemingly being partisan.
I'm a fan of your channel and thanks for speaking on this matter.

I genuinely don't understand why simple concepts go over people's heads and are unable to be understood. We all by now know that even legal documents are no longer credible in qualifying an individual who identifies as female even though they are biologically male. The same seems to apply when it comes to nationality. The South Africa of 1994 is not the same as the South Africa of 2024, we want to be represented by people who truly know, understand and appreciate the culture, traditions and heritage of South Africa, someone who is able to speak with a voice tha resonates with the South Africa of today. It must be said that a lot of individuals in media spaces who live in suburban South Africa, seem to be out of touch with reality and the truth of what South Africans on the ground are going through and what their overall needs are. These South Africans i speak of, who's voices seem to be ignored, are all saying the exact same thing about foreigners and have been for years - what they want is for foreigners to RESPECT their host nation and it's natives, that's it, it should not be this hard to comprehend. As a South African who has South Africans parents, i conquer. I love South Africa and my fellow South Africans regardless of their race.

Thanks Sizwe. 100% agree with you regarding immigrants and people from different backgrounds. As a 7+ generations South African who happens to be white I would hope that some public figures at for example the EFF would listen to your analysis on who are rightfully South African (and African) and should be included as such. We get far worse words thrown at us in public than "bad vibes" - but I digress.
As you say we are all from somewhere but who we are now is the most important. I am working on a hypothesis that the amalgamation of all these backgrounds in this country has made some thing new and different in the context of the world and with relation to the past. We are quite unique. Not merely a person that is Black, White, Indian, Coloured or any other race or nationality, but a South African. In each case slightly different from the rest of those races and nationalities in the rest of the world or, in the case of the Coulored community, than the generations of the past. That difference is what we have in common and what makes us South African. "Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie"
In my opinion diversity and integration would be the pillar of the most successful communities in the future of the world and we can be leaders in that. We need to embrace each other as South Africans above all (no matter where you come from) and then acknowledge the unique characteristics each one of us brings to our family.
I can tell you are not thrilled by the GNU but for me they have a greater chance of achieving that reality than the other options available.

The fact that this issue has gained as much ground in social media has not too so with the fact that South Africans feel disenfranchised within their own nation. That is the conversation that needs to be had. If you have something going for you then you rarely give these issues much time of day, you're too busy taking care of what's important. However the bulk of South Africans are not in a position where they can overlook this issue because they feel as if many foreigners are taking what should belong only to South Africans. When do we start addressing that elephant?
We can't ignore people and then become surprised that they are attacking someone for things (similar or not) they've been politely requesting to be addressed.
Some may say that our laws work against south africans they are meant to protect. We cant ignire people even if they are wrong on am issue, because theres an underlying problem that needs to be addressed. Many communities have issues with nigerians selling things they shouldnt sell, etc etc etc... we need to address problems holistically instead of telling folks they are just wrong. Remeber if the youth feel that this country doesnt work for them, they can set it ablaze so it works for nobody.
