Matt likes to turn his amps way up to get the full available dynamic range. The guitar case is to make the volume more manageable for the folks right in front of the stage.
didn't have his ClearSonics with him. 1 less thing to carry on tour, I guess. never seen him use Fender amps, that's OK. he makes anything sound good !
