So lucky they finally have you！
Such adorable little spitfires. If only there was a way to tell them "Welcome to paradise, you are safe!" But I guess thats what the distance of the people watching/filming, the dens, the large enclosures, the calm movements and lowered voices etc are telling them.
Thank you for being there for these amazing animals... you are definitely doing God's great work and serve the greater purpose! I look forward to visiting you soon in Tampa!

boy, that memorial wall just seems to get longer and longer all the time... :(
After 25 years of taking in cats, many of them elderly, yes it is getting longer. Currently 27 cats here are age 20 or older so we know out time with them is limited. We will give them the best food and best medical care possible to provide quality life for as long as possible, but old age related issues can only be held off for so long. Rescue work has a lot of happy moments but it also has heart breaking times, too. We love these precious cats and when we have to say goodbye to one it is a crushing blow.

May I say that first I thank you Big Cat Rescue and 2nd When can we finally outlaw this crap? I am working with a F 2 or F3 Savannah that has made HUGE strides to being compatible with humans, but WHY??? I see in his eyes how hard he is trying, he sleeps in the crook of my knees and does his best to conform, but WHY? So thank you so very much, how can we stop the imports of these beautiful souls?

Read a horror book years ago about a caracal attacking and killing a bunch of people. I'm sorry, but they dont look big enough to do that. And they look like they would rather be left alone than munch people.

Way too much 'downtime' footage...In Solidarity with Your Mission...
Honestly, the videos about hybrid cats created by breeding these big cats to domestic cats are rampant on UA-cam. Every kind of video promoting the hybrids & everything about owning one except videos showing the uglier side of breeding them. It's ridiculous how easily people can get away with being involved in this activity at any level. There must be laws against breeding & owning hybrids. If there aren't, there should be!!!
I guess crossbreeding wildcats would be considered animal abuse. Not that I codone it, but what would you call this hybrid between a serval and a caracal?

Will these cats ever be returned to the wild? Shouldn't that be the goal? Research shows that smaller members of the big cat family are highly adaptable & more easily returned to the wild after being kept in captivity, if they weren't raised in captivity. Is that the goal of Big Cat Rescue for the cats they can return to the wild?
Julia McDonald-Carberry because the majority of these cats were born and raised in captivity, they are unlikely to fully adapt to the wild again. Also, many of the cats suffer medical issues or injury because of the abuse or poor living conditions they had before coming to Big Cat Rescue, so releasing them into the wild would be a sufficient way of getting them killed.
In the case of some of these animals, their natural territory is far away in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, and to transfer them back would be dangerous and stressful for the cats,and still hold the possibility of the cats being killed or kidnapped again by people of the area, like their parents or grandparents most likely were. So big cat rescue tries to make the remainder of their lives happy and fun filled, and they don’t breed them.
