There are three or four left - I managed to find the full run of five stories but I think I've post a couple (including this one) already. But the remainder will show up quite soon.
@@mysteriousmagpie I seem to remember the book at bedtime slot featuring 2 different series of Algernon Blackwood ghost stories and the second series is already on the channel but what struck me about the 2006 series was that the author engages with the listener before the story starts. For example in the one that you uploaded the other evening, the author says oh good, you’re back. It makes me feel that algernon Blackwood is speaking directly to me.
@@staceymccook5424 As it happens, Algernon Blackwood was a common presence on BBC radio for a long time, either reading his stories or giving talks etc. When I was researching ghost stories on the radio his name came up an awful lot prior to 1960 or thereabouts. Anyway, he also did a number of short films which were just him telling a ghost story to camera. It has a very 'personal' feeling, as if you're hearing the story told over a cup of tea. A couple of these are on youtube so you might like them - although they're films they work perfectly in audio. Here's one: ua-cam.com/video/mCdX_hLo4kc/v-deo.html
Hi. I was doing a bit of research and did you know that there’s a sequel to the story the murders in the Rue morgue by Edgar Allan Poe, called the mystery of Marie Roget? I can’t remember if you told me when you were starting your second channel.
As it happens I've scheduled a play about the murder case that Marie Roget is based on - though if you've not already heard it, The Flies of Isis is also a 'further adventure' of Poe's detective. I seem to recall he also appears in a drama-documentary about Poe that I think I've uploaded already...
@@mysteriousmagpie great. There was a dramatisation of the horror story the monkey’s paw from 1992 in the 7th dimension slot on bbc radio 4 extra earlier today starring Jonathan Adams and patience Tomlinson. I just thought that I’d let you know in case you wanted to add it to the channel.
I remember this series being broadcast in the book at bedtime slot on bbc radio 4 and I loved it. Thank you for uploading.
Are there any more of these ghost stories to come on the channel as they’re brilliant!?
