I love Seth Meyers! The way he admits that her monologue was much better than anything they had written for her is just lovely!
We need Taylor to come back and host with “SNL Monologue (Taylor’s Version)” because she’s got a lot more comedy material to write about since she last hosted 😂

She killed it! Not only was her song really smart and really funny, but her stage presence and comedic timing were pitch perfect. She really is a force of nature.

I remember when she performed that monologue and being impressed with it at the time. I'm not a Taylor superfan, but I respect her writing talent and I think that monologue was when I first took notice. I should probably check out more of her music.

yep, she's a mastermind. (don't start with Midnights, it's not a top tier album, but Mastermind is a song on that album). start with all the track 5s of each album, those are all the special songs.
A large part of Howard's success as an interviewer now is that he's finally learned to listen.

Basically true but his interviews have been legendary for decades. But I agree that it's often better when he takes a more laidback approach with the guests and gives them plenty of room.
That's a great lesson. Take every opportunity to praise others' talents.

She was famous and successful and not in their world, so why would Stern expect her to be awed by Lorne Michaels.
Because it was in 2009? She definitely didn't have everyone's respect yet.
"Not in their world" works the other way too, it takes confidence at 19yo to essentially say "this is what you should put on your show" when you're not known as a comedy writer
