Admit it. ThunderCats was awesome and the music was legendary.
Bernie Hoffer composed, in my opinion, the best theme an 80's cartoon ever had. Not only that, he created wonderful themes for the indivdual characters on the show. I like a bit of leitmotif me.
So this is my tribute to Bernie and ThunderCats. I've made it a medley of the various character themes as well as the title theme.

P.S. Contrary to recent rumour, James Lipton DID NOT compose the ThunderCats theme. It was an elaborate hoax perpetuated by cracked.com

This is a masterpiece. It has an optimistic, yet primal, feel to it. When those drums kick in...you can feel the magic...you can hear the roar!!!
Thank you so much for making this legendary music. I grew up watching all these cartoons. I’ve heard this track a million times, every time I listen to it I get happy tears. 90s is gone the world has become a dark place with no hope I cherish the times I lived as a kid. God bless and peace ✌️

to OminousVoice as a child I would watch the classics he-man thundercats among others thank you for putting time and effort into making thses recordings feels like im 7 years old once more thanks for letting me jump back o these classics through your wonderful work.
If I can make a live action Thundercats movie this is the theme I'd choose.

I'd radically reconcieve Snarf and make him the narrative key. In my mind he'd be a human scientist who got inexplicably transported to Thundera as it is collapsing and aids in the escape to Third Earth. The ThunderCats swear to protect this weird fleshy thing, and cloak him in furs to disguise his alien identity. Their actually language is unpronouceable, but he learns to inderstand it and translates their identities into what they resemble from our earth. Think 13th Warrior. The only word he is able to adequately pronounce is "Snarf" so that's what he is called and instructed to say if questioned. He serves as audience surrogate recounter to us of Lion-O and the ThunderCats deeds much like the Mako character in Conan. I'd cast Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange) or Peter Dinklage (which would also account for his diminutive size more immediately). Someone who we can actually take seriously.
So suddenly the annoying mascot is integral and really interesting in his own journey while being our point-of-view translator of the mythology.
That's the first essential in cracking the anthramorphized silliness of ThunderCats for a more plausiblly realistic feature epic saga franchise rendering.
Bring in David Twohy and William Monahan to iron out the screenplay.
Secure a top vfx house to deliver grounded detailed photo-realistoc cgi environments and character animation like MPC or Weta.
Next I'd go down the list vying for a proper genre filmmaker who could usher this vision in with tactful skill and style:

This sounds extremely professional. High Quality, lots of little nuances, almost like the opening scores to movies like " Superman ", " Star Trek ", " Stargate ", etc.

Incredible! I could almost imagine Mumm-Ra conducting the orchestra, waving the baton to and fro, as the symphony of Vulture-Men pipe mournfully on their brass.

I've learned to ignore Lion-O's calls for help. Every time I would respond, he just wanted to borrow money. His catnip addiction has gotten way out of control. He simply refuses to go to rehab. That's what he gets for hanging out with those goddamn berbils. They actually stole the Sword of Omens because he couldn't pay them. And don't get me started on Panthro.

Sometimes I think Thundercats was just an amazing dream I had long ago. But it's real, and it's bad ass. I mean look at the way it's written, the font is incredible. And the logo...legend. Not to mention the sword of fucking omens... I mean yeah, Liono sported a sketchy outfit, but it was only to show off is amazing lion-human physique am I right. I mean he left a place in his torso just for you to see his abs. If that's not badass I don't know what it is.
Don't worry Disney will find some way to exploit your beautiful memory for cash, perhaps with a hefty dose of modern gender politics you didn't ask for?

I'm glad to see they've brought back a great clasic cartoon I watched when I was 4 years old back in the early 90's.

To the troops at Ominous Voice: the music y'all throw together is positively INSPIRED. The track done on Unicron's Theme makes me suspect you can channel Vince Dicola and John Williams at the same time.
I LOVE the way you've worked in all of the little sub-themes from the show. I find it pleasing to my 1980's cartoon Geek-Fu, so I do.

The complete score for both seasons of ThunderCats is about 160 tracks, most of them clock in at around 3 minutes long (though most of these full length versions were never used in the show). The character themes alone would be half an hours worth.
This is brilliant! I love what you did with every theme. Especially Tygra’s, you reworked the one awkward moment of the original themes. Perfect idea starting out with Jaga’s regal theme, then moving on to the adventurous Thundercats! Then Tygra! Cheetara’s was probably the least changed. Panthro’s without the funkiness is a powerful melody, serene power! Just like Panthro himself. Then wrapping it up with the outro ending! It’s like storytelling through music. Beautiful work, wouldn’t change a thing! I wish this was the approach a Thundercats movie would take.

Indeed the music WAS legendary. Its a travesty that it hasn't been released in some official capacity.Panthros/Thundertank theme still rocks my socks. i would buy it in a MOMENT. I'd love to hear what you make of jayce & the wheeled warriors...or mask..or..dare i say it...captain scarlet? heh.
Fantasy allows us to use abstract ideas to display the best of humanity. The point of Tolkiens works weren't furry footed midgets. It was a story about bravery, courage, and all those great ideals.

I was not sure when i heard classical and thundercats. It seemed suspicious to me. I am happy to be proved wrong. This is EPIC! i disagree on the movie being made thoguh, it would be to the detrement of the original. Let it lie. Seriously. Good work!

Listening to your arrangement of the iconic tunes, I cannot help but once again hope for a Thundercats movie. Perhaps once Warners have got their DC house in order, they can begin with tackling the epicness that is THUNDERCATS!

There is a Thundercats movie in the works right now. I suggest you call Warner Bros. and play this for them. If they don't offer to let you do the music for the movie, they're nuts.

Production only lasted two years, however the second years worth of episodes were split over the following years. So many episodes premiered in 19878-90 but were made in 1987.
Now this is great, an orchestral take on the Thundercats theme. I love it!
you did something that i've been trying to do. keep the melody of the song and at the same time give it this kind of darkness. when everything comes down to it these cartoons always have some kind strong feeling in it. the original is great and works so well with the 80's. i love the theme. You did something really great/different with it though and just gave it this different tone while keeping the upbeat feel at the same time. great job.

tygra's theme at 2:17 was one of the best, they didn't play it often enough in the series IMO
Bernard Hoffer himself had stated he's all for an official release of his "Thundercats" score, but considering the total duration of the complete score would be less than twenty-minutes, it would have to be a compilation with his other scores for Rankin~Bass such as "The Coneheads", "Life & Adventures of Santa Claus", "Silverhawks", "The Comic Strip", "Picture of Dorian Gray".

This is really cool. Thundercats is my favorite cartoon of all time. There are rumors that a new version of it will be introduced in 2011....and if that does well, the live action movie will follow shortly after.

They should hire you for the movie soundtrack, and bring all the classic themes from the cartoon to the movie. If the movie ever gets done, though.
If i close my eyes, I can picture the film version of the show..A cross between Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. This version of the theme is just amazing.
