Asking Harvard Students How They Got Into Harvard [HS Stats] *JUICY Interviews* Ft. TikTok Star

- Опубліковано 13 лис 2020
- Hey everyone! This is probably the juiciest video I've made all fall. I went to Harvard University with my friend, Angela, to ask Harvard students some interesting questions:
* Who's the most famous person you know? (Barack Obama, Dixie D'Amelio, etc..)
* What made you stand out in your college application?
* What were some of your high school stats (GPA, SAT, ACT)?
* How is the Harvard dating scene during the corona season?
Thanks to my boy, Tai, I was able to interview Niko Katsuyoshi, who's a TikToker with literally a million followers! He's also wrestling for Harvard. S/O Niko
Huge S/O to Toby for helping me with the thumbnail!
Hope you guys enjoy the video!

4.93 out of 4. ''It wasn't the stats" GIRL
I mean had to have great extracurriculars, essays as well. etc. You could have gotten a 4.9 GPA but didn't do anything else so obviously they wouldn't want someone like that
@@notdoingeetswa3690 That is right. But it was definitely also the stats
ig to some extent it is and isn't...like if you applied with a 4.0+ gpa, you're also going against many other applicants who have the same if not higher gpa. you'd stand out amongst "average" students but perhaps not among other applicants unless you have some other outstanding aspect of your profile
it probably wasn't the stats, there are lots of applicants to Harvard with 4.9 GPAs obviously you can't get in with a 2.0 but its really not special for a Harvard applicant to have a 4.7+ GPA
@@kellyyang525 It wasn't *JUST* the stats. It was everything, Kelsey. That includes the stats.

There just big test basically
My girl said a 4.9 😳
Took me off guard as well 😫
I think it’s important to note that while that gpa is still extremely high, weighting is done differently at different schools. For example some schools may give an AP class of grade 90+, the 5.0 weight (on the 4.0 scale), but other schools it may only be 97+ that gives a 5.0 scale. To put this in perspective how much this could change a gpa, at my school I had like a 4.09, where only APs that are 97+ give 5.0 weight but if my school had it at 90+ instead my gpa would prob rise to about 4.6 or higher. So in general when you hear these super high gpa’s it’s generally because of the way the school weights them, not to say she had the 90+ weighting, as we don’t know, but it could be a possibility. A lot of the times when competitive schools admit people they actually take the students grades and recalculate the gpa on their scale so that the ranges aren’t as varied
It’s not hard if you want to take honors AP courses
I went to a state college and still everyone in engineering school with me had well over a 4.0 lol
right me with a 2.85 😳
Scores aren't everything but they mean a lot. I wish people would stop down playing them. Nobody with a 22 ACT score is getting into Harvard unless Daddy is giving out a lot of coins.
honestly...
And even with big donors, they ask the kid to achieve at least a minimum brilliance (otherwise the kid would be the first to suffer), if not, they'd even reject the donation (it's not like they have a shortage of millionaires/billionaires willing to make a donation to grant their kids access). So, even such kids are not dumb at all.
Most students/athletes and Harvard have serious stats too. Harvard doesn't have athletic scholarships in the traditional sense of other colleges.

I really didn't know it was about Harvard, or is there something missing?
I really doubt that you could 'bribe' your way into Harvard, at least for a so small amount of money.
When there are cases alike in Harvard, it's for MILLIONS that help a lot of brilliant poor kids study for free, in exchange of one (or a few spots at best) for the child/children of the big donor, so it's worth it.
@@dartherus You're right, she wasn't bribing Harvard but it's not unheard of for selective schools to accept bribes to let their kids in. I think I heard Yale was a part of it one time but I'm not completely sure.

College is so hyped up but it's really no big deal. The application process is a bunch of hocus pocus pandering about being "3rd generation, listing pointless extracurriculars, etc." It's all show. You start to realize that you're just another cog in the machine (not to get all edgy but it's true). Going to a school in a sea of "intellectuals" is probably more harmful than beneficial. The best thing you can do is to innovate, be a morally good person and not worry what others think about you. If I went to Harvard, I would get sucked up by negative feedback loops and eventually lose my sense of purpose.
@@jaideepchahal491 They won’t get you in, but they *will* get admissions to actually review your application
as a person who doesnt live in the US, i still don't understand how do u enter college without deciding your major yet, that sounds so cool
@bluemingenius Many students don't know what they want to be dedicated to when they enter college so many (if not all) college applications do not require a major but it is optional & makes your resume look at least a little better if you have decided. The only major things most (not all) applications require are unweighted (depends on the school if they take weighted or unweighted but I think unweighted gives a better idea of how you will do) GPA, SAT, ACT, common app. essay, and (rarely) an interview. However, many colleges do offer courses students can take to see if a certain career is what they want to pursue by giving them a feel of the things they will need to know to see if it interests them. And also, a good amount of students constantly change their major as they feel the path they are on doesn't suit them & I believe because of how much majors can fluctuate, it is hard to require it for admission. Not sure if this helped, but I hope it makes sense.

MC Ride, John Mess, Will Swan, Brandon Biebel, A lot of the Kings Player, Kevin Johnson, Urijah Faber, the Diaz Brothers, and Stefan Janoski. Tbh they’re all nice too
ima be honest i have no idea who any of those people are 😂
9:11 Ok, but imagine him interviewing her again and her saying exactly his phrase next time. It would be so epic.
LMAOOO that would be insane
This account randomly popped up on my recommended and I'm so glad it did
I, like, really envy every single one of them. But, it's life. C'est la vie.
First video I’ve seen from this man and he’s already goated like I’m getting Fung Bros slash Smoove Gio public interview vibes
Appreciate it Julian!!
Fire video bro im definitely subbing! Just a piece of advice when you put a little reaction or comment in the video with text leave it for longer so we cn actually read it. I have to keep going back and pausing to read texts but anyway #MarathonMan and you got a new sub!!
Thank you Obinna! I'll definitely keep your advice in mind 👍🏼

That "holy shit" at 1:40 killed me. In so many ways, like HOW do you get .93 more than the max🤣
i love how humble they are with their GPAs
How does this guy only have 3.54 subs? He this man up
The best way to think about it is that stats are the pre requisite. Everyone there will have high stats, but to stand out, it's the extra curriculars and achievements made outside of school.
Sports and being apart of many organizations will create an extra buffer on your application, making you more of a well rounded person instead of just someone who does school.
Straight facts
just subbed looking for more videos like this in future.
great job keep going!
Thank you!! I will 😎
this is my first time watching one of your videos but this was actually super entertaining
I'm glad you enjoyed!!
Loved the vibe in this video, subscribed!

Man if i had their scores and gpa i would be bringing it up any chance i got lol. their hard work is nothing to be embarrassed about!
Congrats to people who got into harvard but the degree isn't everything, it's what you make out of it. Best damn example out there is Rory Gilmore
They already know that fool 🤦♀️
Love your editing style!
Thanks Marie!!
Straight hella good videos fam
Keep making these type of vedios so that students who want to get into Harvard have knowledge about it. Eagerly waiting for the next part.....
For sure Pranav 💪🏼 I'm thinking about visiting Harvard again next week, but most of the students are gone.. I'll definitely film more in 2021 though!
@@JZ0official ok bro
I don’t like how people are sort of discussing about the girls who have really high scores but said it wasn’t the stats. They truly mean that it wasn’t the stats that got them into Harvard, like it all depends on the perspective of you’re looking at. Usually uniqueness and actually standing out gets you in Ivy League universities, ik the score is high and all but stats are something thst you can improve overtime on and extracurricular different activities are sort of something that’s not for everyone. Like if you can’t just see past thst stats usually get you into Harvard or usually disagree with what the students said from Harvard about stats getting into Harvard, then that just means that you’re not suited.
yo this is rly rly blowing up congrats man 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
How do you only have 4k fans! This was so good! Keep up the good work it’s not even something I would usually watch but you caught my attention haha
Thank you Blare!!
