These are some easy herbs that we grow each year. This was our first year having swallowtail cats on our dill. It was fun to watch them go to work and then turn into butterflies.

Kim I grow all my own herbs & vegetables, my herb garden is so prolific - I dry all of my herbs & grind them up for rubs etc- my family & neighbors love it. I have a rosemary bush that I started probably 15yrs ago from a tiny seedling I purchased, it is now probably 5ft tall & has spread about 12ft & has actually become a hedge ( amazing ) but beautiful. Cheers Denise- Australia

Look at you getting all set up with a soon to be tasty herb garden Kim! Up this way there are are 5 inches of snow with a light snow still falling. If you were thinking that 12 degrees sounds about right, you would be spot on! Below zero tonight. Soon to be starting a few herb plants inside here, one I fetch some planters from under the snow. I used to grow a lot of herbs. I hope to do so again. I've never had luck overwintering any of them (can't do it inside). But now that my NJ location is rated zone 7, I'll give it another try, protected by a cold frame that I hope to make following the instructions of Jame Prigioni. I had no idea that I should break up cilantro seeds! Great tips! Thank you!

Hi Evan - thanks for the info. It's great to hear what works for different gardeners in different growing situations. Composting meat and dairy is an option, but I prefer not to, as it seems to bring in the pests and sometimes takes longer to break down. Enjoy your composting and thanks for stopping by!

@@CaliKim29 Thank you for all your videos! I actually don't compost it in my compost bin being that I live in Wisconsin and it takes a long time for it to break down. I chuck it in the little forest area in my backyard and cover it up with soil. This way it can go back into the environment without it winding up in my bin when I take out the finished stuff to feed my garden in the spring. Enjoy your composting as well and happy fall!

I actually do have sage growing on one side of this garden bed, but chose to talk about just 6 herbs so the video wasn't too long, lol! This area is partially shaded in the summer, and mostly shaded in winter. You will get larger sized plants in full sun but they can be grown in partial sun as well. Grow Parsely and Cilantro part sun in warmer temps, Good luck with your Herb Garden!

Hi Patricia, so glad you got your package - thanks for ordering! Lavender actually is a perennial herb, very hardy. It loves warm weather, but also does well in cool winters here, likes full sun, is very drought tolerant. You should be able to transplant it outdoors next spring, no problem! Enjoy growing your micros and cilantro indoors!

Already harvesting my parsley and chives grown from your seeds. 😊 I want to plant dill from your seed collection too - do you think it gets too tall to put in a Smart Pots rail saddle planter? I worry they’ll flop over.

That's awesome, Brittany! The dill in the Herb Seed Collection is Mammoth Dill, it does get quite tall and might flop over in a Wall Saddle Planter. It would do better in a 5 gallon, or even a 1 gallon would be sufficient. Enjoy your herbs!
