So I'm new to the pnw (Tacoma) and not an experienced fisherman. How would you recommend I get started? This spot near the treatment plant seems good but what about gear/setup and technique? Any tips would be appreciated
We are drift fishing with corkie and yarn. I would recommend for gear is to go to sportco and they have guys that will point you in the right direction. Fishing is expensive and they will show you different priced gear. Just getting out and seeing what others are doing is the best thing you can do. Good luck tight lines.
@@apoutdoorsPNW sweet thank you! I just moved up to nw Washington and the closest river is the nooksack and the skagit. Hard to trust muddy water when you dont how to fish it. So thanks again!
You should try making your own slinky weights using 3 or 4 corkies in the top, if you use 1 oz of lead and then the corkies it actually makes your weight act like a 1/2oz weight when drifting
I was using #2 octopus hook 9 foot leader medium corky any color. no yarn. But you just have to play around with it. Find out the right combination for the streach of river you are fishing. It will Change from spot to spot.
Yes they did predict that. They have been in the river for about a month now. Was really slow Friday and Saturday. Hope we get another good push up the river soon.
@@apoutdoorsPNW Thanks for replly and Good luck to you guys. Here in Sac river Cali water is at boil by upper 100 n cooling is not in sight for other few weeks.
Cheeeee......nice catch bro, fished the Puyallup river for the first time yesterday down by the soccer fields, it was really slow, one hook up but she popped off, only saw 2 fish landed, curious to were this spots at
I switch it up all the time trying to find that right combination for size corky sometimes I don't even run yarn. But mostly red or green yarn if I do. Sometimes I just run a red bead.
You ever fish the beach on other side of the river at the end of the trail ?! You'd prob get way better videos really good drift always produces and so far all mosntas where I've fished for 12+ years
I have fished it before years ago. My family fish the water treatment so I just got a custom to going there or up river more. I like what we call the Kmart hole down river also. But waiting for the crowds to die down.
What’s funny about this salmon fishing in the puget sound is the closed it for kings because they say the quotes was met at 2700 kings and we could only keep one king out in the sound but they open the river up too a (2) two king salmon a day that’s funny stuff come on WDFW make your minds up if you want us to fish in the sound or not I think there’s going to be a lot off thinking about buying licenses next year I heard a lot of guys weren’t happy with what happened this year they saying they got the shaft because of the tribes I now I will be getting back to Canada to fish two up there I got more salmon then I did here all year
@@apoutdoorsPNW I wish a lots of salmon fisherman would protest and just don’t buy license hot one year them maybe the WDFW would wake up and do something for us not just give in to the tribes we are the ones paying for the hatchery fish not the tribes while they take what they want wild and hatchery fish know next year I’m going to wait and see what they are planning about us to fish
Oh I forgot to say those were some nice kings that far up river that’s one of my favorite places to fish and I have on the other side just below there I do really good with flowing eggs and way up river behind my house September is coho killing up here Tight lines and stay safe out there on the river Watch out for those crackheads they’ll break into your vehicle there they got my friend last year
Even then with the emergency rule changes happening. Everything can change in a instant. I do agree on some of your points. But the Indians are the ones running alot of these hatcheries now. And doing a better job then washington state did.
Sorry for the Audio in the beginning my Gopro Started cracking I tried to edit around it the best I could.
Awesome when ya get going crazy runs like that get ya pumped up

It's a snagging fishery. Go elsewhere if you're a real fisherman.
With muddy water a corky and yarn works no scent? Is that the best way to fish muddy water like that?
I will use scent also. I know people who use eggs or spoons. But yes, for the puyuallup I think it is a way to catch more fish due to the muddy water.
@@apoutdoorsPNW sweet thank you! I just moved up to nw Washington and the closest river is the nooksack and the skagit. Hard to trust muddy water when you dont how to fish it. So thanks again!
I can't wait to get out there!!! Thanks for the video post!
Im looking to buy a Baitcaster like yours if you don’t mind me asking what rod and reel you using. Thank you
I need to update the reel.its the older Shimano Curado I believe that's what it is. And my rod I was using is okuma 10-20 8'6
Flossing at its finest
Heck ya , that's how u suppose to end a day nice job

Took me a minute to get what you are taking about. But yeah in some drifts of water I can see that being helpful. Cool idea.
Location of this spot please ?
Sumner sewage treatment plant
is this to the east or west of the 410 bridge? I'm usually by the scale house on river road but would love to try this spot
Just Google Sumner sewage treatment plant should show you the directions.
Is the treatment parking public? Afraid I might get towed
Yes it is
Awesome video! Looking to fish this spot soon, is the parking area pretty obvious when driving by? Just want to know what to look for. Thanks!
Yeah it's the only parking lot. You can also park on the road near the entrance to the trail just before the parking lot.
Couple questions? What leader length and what on the hook? Corky and yarn?

What u using for bait or lure
Corky's and yarn.
Great fish can’t wait to get out there!
Thank you. Good luck out there.
Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Good return of kings is predicted, wonder if you guys are getting them yet ?

Sumner Sewage treatment plant. I fishing it today. It was also slow.
Question, is it barbed or barbless there!?
Barbless
What pound leader you recommend
My main line is 12# mono. But I experiment with my leaders to find out what works best for depth. I was using 20# mono when I caught these fish.
Nice and thank you
Nice fish!
Do you gotta park a ways away brother?
It's not a far walk. My dad and uncles do it. They bring a wagon to put there stuff in.
Where’s this spot ? I’d love to go there n actually not have to use waiters
It's the Sumner sewage treatment plant.
FOUL HOOKED! Under the GHILL, not legal
What part of the puyallup is this? I’ve never caught a salmon and been trying all damn year 😂
It's in Sumner. Water sewage treatment plant.
@@apoutdoorsPNW THANK YOU!
@@apoutdoorsPNW I guess one more question: what color/combo of yarn and (or) corky would you recommend?

Yeah me and family fished that hole too until we found out about the beach on other side good hole thiugh!
Don’t go to spots in neighborhoods private property chance you’ll get towed
Is drift fishing not allowed
It is allowed.
Just left the river really dead only seen 1 catch all day
I seen 3 got this morning few rollers. Really slow.
So what parts exactly are open from river cause I’m hearing a lot of different bs
It's all closed Sunday-Tuesday. Not sure why it's not like they net the upper part of the river. Really sucks.
Fishing the blown
Blown?
Hey boss can I see your setup pls

I call it the water treatment Hole in Sumner wa.
Did you let a "wild" silver jack go? Hahahah!
Yes I let it go but it was a king.
