She looks decent quality enough, really. Noodle Stoppers can be hit or miss but her previews look fine to me. I'm considering picking it up even though I have her B-style lol
24:56 As someone who's name looking for a normal dressed Rem of her in her maid outfit, the one on the far left is the one I wanna get for Christmas. 56:47 So, what are your thoughts on that Asuna figure? Your chart said that Swga is C tier, but you didn't really say anything about that Asuna figure or the other 3 on that slide. Tbh, that's the only Asuna Prize Figure from this year I'm still thinking of getting for Christmas. 57:13: Shangri-La Frontier is still on my watchlist & iirc, isn't author a woman & a friend of the author of SAO? I also know that the SAO author likes it & even recommended it to his fans.
That Sega Asuna falls under the Figurism product line, which under my list would come as recommended. There is one single user pic in MFC. myfigurecollection.net/item/2085172 Well it is not entirely uncommon for manga authors to be acquainted with each other
@@xXTardisDreamerXx Thanks for the reply! I've been keeping an eye on that figure since it was first announced, but forgot about it recently until I saw this video. And due to how many bad or mediocre Asuna figures we got recently, I thought people didn't like that Scherzo figure either.
I'm surprised you didn't even mention the Masterlise figures especially from the Ichiban Kuji line, they're prize figures but almost look like scale figures.
as over 80% of my figure is prize figure, I agree with that tier list. Sega was great, but for the last few years, their qualities dropped most bandai definitely on the D tier list, quality wise. But they complement it with wide range of choice. Feels like quantity over quality
I seriously don't know what happened to Sega because their SPM figure of Archer Atalanta from Fate Apocrypha was excellent. And then today they can't even get the paint work done properly in many of their figures. Paint bleeding is common on their figures today.
sadly i have a few noodle stopper figures 🤣can't resist when they make one of my favourite characters and i love having them sit on my desk near me. 32:20 i have that hoshina, and thankfully he doesnt look too bad, his battle suit is quite detailed for a prize figure. 50:49 same with the sega figure, his battle suit looks decent. But agree that the 50:59 sitting hoshina looks abit off. Didn't get him cos his face doesnt look right 🥲 59:46 agreed. i don't know why scale figure companies can't get his face right. Sega figures of him seem to have decent faces. If only they were bigger 🥲 ichiban kuji is like a lucky draw game, where there are set of prizes (Prize A-being the best to Prize F-being the worse) and for each set of kuji, there are usually only a few figures as Prize A, usually.. The last prize is also usually a figure, given to the last person who clears all the kuji tickets. So for 700yen (if u are in japan) u stand a chance to win a figure and people who win, usually sell it at crazy price especially if the figure is super good & highly sort after 🥲i hate that too. The fact they profit so much from being lucky makes me salty. scalpers with high luk stat🥲1:13:12 like that last prize Hoshina with the mask, his aftermarket is over S$200 🥲but if u win a 700yen figure, some actually have very impressive quality.
A little bit disappointed with this video, sadly. I hear a lot of rambling instead of having properly researched the subject and prepared useful information for it. Why use prototype photos instead of actual user pics? They give such a false impression of their actual quality. Why not give some actual arguments as to why you believe some are higher quality than others? I really am not that interested in your personal taste, since it doesn't align at all with mine. I rather see how close in quality prize figures are to scale figures nowadays. Perhaps also between multiple lines what their differences in quality is. Would've loved to see comparison pictures that actually point out the differences clearly. It also didn't make much sense to me that your tier list is ordered by brand alone, and not the combination of brand and product line. I highly doubt the top line of FuRyu is a worse thing to get than Taito's worst one (which your tier list now seems to imply?).
Here's my answer to your questions: Why use prototype photos instead of actual user pics - to avoid copyright / not-crediting-the-owner disputes. I use user pics for my 3rd party resin "brand reviews" because those are photos from a group where the images were shared by Orzgk's admins directly, which is a safety net in a sense if ppl blame me for stealing photos i can quote a source on where i received the images from. Usually when I do use user pics, im covering maybe 15 to 20 figures max and i can afford to credit every single user pic to their owner by taking screenshots or recordings where the author's name is visible (I almost never right click save other people's photos on MFC). But with prize figures? We are looking at potentially over a thousand of them and more than half do not have user pics at all on MFC. Only the popular ones have user pics. Why not give some actual arguments as to why you believe some are higher quality than others? It all came from experience - the same reason why i praise one figure brand and trash another in my weekly figure news. I have been collecting for 15 years to be exact. Brands like Sega and Bandai today are much much worse than they were back in the late 2010s. When it comes to figures it is usually down to these 5 factors - sculpt refinement (seam lines, mold lines), face sculpt, anything related to paint work, and connection with base / stability, and the value when you look at the asking price. How close in quality prize figures are to scale figures? Not even close. Taito's best figure line are maybe encroaching on cheap Chinese scale figure levels but not quite there yet. Prize figure is its entire own category altogether, and i feel it is unfair to make prize figures look bad next to a figure that cost several times more. I don't want to make people who cant afford the hobby feel bad about their life decisions to buy mostly prize figures. I will still do such a video in future but only for when I can get my hands on multiple figures of the same character / design in the form of prize, scale, budget scales, and maybe even 1/4 before i can do a side by side comparison. Didn't make much sense to me that your tier list is ordered by brand - that was actually what people who watched my videos requested for. I have a tier list based on figure brands for scales that is work in progress. People want to know which brand is good or not in the same way they want to know which car brand is reliable. The multiple product lines that are cluttered and confusing is unique to prize figure brands (and only Megahouse for scales). Kotobukiya's product lines for example are quite clear cut where you know what their Bishoujo series is about, what their ARTFX J is (cheaper scales at 1/8), the Pokemon line, and the rest that don't have a product line. Meanwhile with prize figures, there are no obvious criteria on how these brands classify or rank them, other than some being exclusively saved for specific anime titles or specific designs (such as Taito aquafloats are all swimsuit + floats). Each time they come up with a new idea they will slap a new name on it for branding and marketing reasons, so we end up with the mess you see today. So when you see me say "this one good, dont get that one" in this video it is quite consistent in the sense the ones i recommend usually the better product lines, rather than solely based on what i prefer subjectively.
@@EXkurogane I appreciate the response. You make some really fair points. I wasn't really thinking that user pictures could be a problem, so that's a good lesson. Thanks! What I mostly was trying to say is that the effort just seems a bit low with these kinds of videos, where it's just looking at pictures and talking about it? Like in some other videos you actually have the figures themselves to show and to point things out on. It just is so much more informative that way. Especially for a video about prize figures I think the investment would have been quite low, considering their price and the ease of obtaining a few dozen samples.
