Well, they certainly should. Both the ATF and DHS are likely their biggest customers.
I expect most sites selling switches or filters are ATF honey pots.
They aren't trying to stop crime, they are trying to arrest easy targets that they set up.
That boosts their stats and helps push anti gun legislation.
Criminals cause fear which also pushes anti gun legislation.
Busting actual criminals hurts their cause.

Lots of them are. Not just Glocks but the AR15 too. that’s not a bad thing. There is nothing special about MG’s that makes them more deadly. A revolver that holds 6 rounds of 22LR is just as deadly as a full auto M16. The laws are unconstitutional and need to change. All the gun control groups are deranged. If they actually cared about saving the lives of children they would want to ban abortion instead guns.

1986 /1987 was also when the Glock 18 was released for law enforcement & military only. But its design is nothing like the “Glock switch “. The Glock 18 actually uses a selector built into the slide that acts the same way the switch does but in a much cleaner more reliable way. I will say that the G18 does look a lot like the new Franklin armory binary Glock slide kit.

The Glock 18 is a factory full auto pistol (patent issued in 1985), which is not for sale to civilians in the US. Why would they waste time with a switch if they could sell a factory pistol and make more $? They wouldn't....

For less than $10 on Amazon, I can get a set of "seat belt extensions" that would disable the alert chime in my car.

Maybe Leon was able to obtain a Glock 18 and was able to redesign the auto sear to be able to be installed without machining the slide.

It's nothing new, the progressives have been trying to disarm us for over a century. This is how we got the NFA in the first place. Progressives (mostly women) wanted to ban all handguns, machine guns and anything else gun related that wasn't a single shot hunting gun. The reason for the SBRs being in the NFA was so you couldn't make a handgun from a rifle. There was too much push-back on the the handgun provision so they took it out, but overlooked the SBR provision.
Didn't they ban open bolt semi autos because they were easily converted to automatic?

Jorge claims he met with gaston glock and showed him the autosear in his interview about it. He told the story in the interview. However not sure there is actual proof for that meeting. Simply his word. And he claims Glock told him to "be careful" with his patent for it apparently. But glock himself never approved it.
This "logic" could be extended to manufacturers of rifles that bump stocks can be attached to.
Personally, I think they are using the switches for more than just the cool factor. I think many of them see how common they are in the very dangerous area they live. They feel afraid of the idea of having to face someone who has a switch if they don't have one. So, by installing one, they are giving themselves some added comfort. They still like that they are "cool" and fun to shoot, though.
Now, from a tactics perspective, I wouldn't use one on mine, even if I was in these areas where I'm likely to engage someone who does run a switch. I'd much rather have far superior accuracy. I know you guys are aware of this, but there's always "that guy" who will think I share the same opinion just because I understand it. So, I'm saving myself from a bit of annoyance.

1200 rounds per minute, 60 seconds per minute. That yields 20 rounds per second. Assuming a 15 round magazine, it's empty in 3/4 of a second, lots of luck aiming!!

IF glock auto sears were legal and not on the NFA would I buy one? Absolutely. Would I carry a gun that's automatic? No. It would be a range toy and that's about it.
