With 400 watt panels and one more row you go from 10k to 14k watts. I make the speed at 6-7 knots and with 14k array maybe 7-9 knots. A great fair weather intercoastal cruiser. Very exciting. I would back it up with drop in sea drive outboards, a wood burning stove, and a genset. My config is one master and one guest. A nice work shop, storage and toy garage. Nice east coast USA intercoastal home with possible passage to the Bahamas and the southern Islands during fair weather
Why would you put all of this dramatic music to the footage rather than tell us about the boat? It’s like a home made intro that goes the length of the ENTIRE video. Frustrating.
The point was to show a 40 foot catamaran with unlimited range that doesn't use any fuel. Of course, the title pretty much says that and you were still confused, so I don't know why I bothered explaining it to you. You likely still don't get it. Oh, well. Sucks to be you.
Richard Owens But it doesn’t really show anything, no real interior, no stats or technical specifications. Just some half serious people maneuvering a small boat is if they were on a mission to discover a new continent. Go look at Silent-yachts instead :)
came here to say the same thing. i have absolutely no conception of the interior of the boat, and can't tell if this was made by serious boat builders or people who are into solar and came up with a design that floats
What a fu...in' crap. By "solar powered" i want to hear the power of silence, water hitting the hull, the silent humming of the e-motor; not crappy music.
How can I take your company seriously when you make videos like this? Have you seen the videos on UA-cam for Silent Yachts?!? How about a walk thru video with no music, just a host explaining all the features... you should fire your marketing department!
The boat is beautiful! I dream of having one similar. But, the video is by "Jazz Waltz"... why isn't the background music a Jazz Waltz instead of a 4/4 blues?
No offense intended, but why did you make the video? To get clicks? (3 ads in 7 minute video). QUESTIONS: Base price? Battery type? Is the hull custom or modified from another design? Is there another web site for this info? Their web site is a bit "thin" on this info, as well. I like the design with the complete coverage up top with panels, and the 60 KW battery bank is ample for day and night cruising since you can charge and run during the day using 6 KW to cruise and 4KW to charge. Just 6 hours in full sunlight will take a set at 40% and top it off. I suspect you rarely let your primary bank go below 25% to 30%. Then you can go at least 2 or 3 days on batteries (nights) at a decent speed, if needed. I would add two pop-up vertical 0.75 to 1 KW wind turbines for the disaster they say will never happen (e.g., 5 days with NO full sunlight) since the minute you say it will never happen, IT HAPPENS. Murphy's law of the Sea. The only other thing I would add (and you may have it already) is small directed energy weapon for pirates. The cool thing about a small DEW is that it can be easily disguised as an electromagnetic line-gun (e.g., stick a pole in the end with line on it and most small, backwards militaries would be clueless as to its real purpose). Super capacitors have advanced the DEW technology by 30 years, almost overnight. The world is getting to be a scary place and most nations frown on a 7.62mm or 30 cal semi-auto rifle mounted on your pleasure craft . The second best option is a good, powerful flame thrower (it has to shoot 30 to 40 meters minimum to be really useful). Can you tell I despise pirates? The only good pirate is a DEAD pirate (fish food, if they will eat the disgusting two legged maggots). I guess I get that from being in the US Coast Guard for 20 years and seeing 6 bodies hacked to pieces (machetes, no doubt) strewn all over the deck and cabins on a nice sailboat found adrift (including 2 small children - I didn't sleep well for a fee weekis). BE CAREFUL out there! They now make very inexpensive Infrared proximity alarms that will warn you at night when anything alive above the waterline is within 250 feet of your craft. And they also have good underwater alarms available, but they are a bit more expensive. And finally, with the flip of a single switch below decks, you should be able to light-up the outside of your vessel (every inch of it) out to 250 feet all around it - VERY BRIGHTLY - Literally blind anyone with night vision approaching your boat! With new LED arrays you can do it quite inexpensively, and they are so bright your attackers will be blinded for 4 or 5 minutes. A friend of mine also added 3 Diesel Locomotive Horns - they are so loud it will literally deafen the intruders for 5 to 10 minutes (it will hurt their ears - too bad, eh?). As long as you are behind them, you are safe from ear damage. Hey, just some ideas for you. Be prepared and SAFE - not sorry. Thanks for the peek at the vessel. It is VERY nice. I want one... after years of smelling diesel fuel, it would be so nice to cruise powered by he sun, and I'm getting too old for canvas now - canvas/wind power is a lot of work, albeit very worthwhile.
A boat is a hole in the water, into which a person sinks money. An electric yacht is a conveyance that saves you money by powering your land dwelling if you’re not ‘sailing’ and moored by the sea.
Pick your time and your sailing condition and you’ll be good to go anywhere in the temperate zone. I like the price and the cockpit layout; clean and snug like a North Sea Sailor. But I wouldn’t recommend ‘sailing’ north of 40° or south of 40° latitude. Solar-nav around the world at the equator. Should be quite a comfortable trip.
You need a system built to recharge the battery bank while underway also you need a battery bank large enough to store enough energy for nighttime passages and a generator to supplement if it's cloudy also this boat is clearly not for blue water sailing you can tell just by the fron t of the ship and how low she is to the water line. I wouldn't take her far from shore at all inland lakes yeah blue water long passage no.
are you just making the assumption that this craft does not have a battery bank? you are talking about the freeboard as well??? i know folks out there making passages on 27' catalinas dipping the rail every single day. you dont sound like you do much passage making. just checked the site... it has a 60kwh battery bank.... so it looks like you really dont have any clue what you are talking about... imagine that.
@@TheCort1971 I think U have been a bit harsh on Herbert... 60Kwh/20Kw (both moters at full power) = 3 hrs run time with no other loads... Please show footage of interior. Is there a kitchen? Beds?
message to anyone marketing a solar powered boat kill the music the silence of the drive unit compared to a combustion boat is what we want to hear

Any sort of video for the making of?
Why would you put all of this dramatic music to the footage rather than tell us about the boat? It’s like a home made intro that goes the length of the ENTIRE video. Frustrating.
Videos for UA-cam would be worthless of made for adults.
Lovely catamaran! Looks stable enough for rougher seas, ideal for an island escape adventure! Well done! Nice music for the video, too!
Many thanks!
Whats the cabin space like? Can you live on it?
For mild weather that bow looks a little low in the water, i'd be concernerned in heavier seas. Nice shore noodler though.
Is this a music video? What’s the point? Wasted 7 minutes of my life.

thats why the whole video is perfectly 'silent'
Nose heavy - heavy porpoising - move batts toward stern
Great and excellent
Thank you Carlos!
It’s a houseboat with solar cells.
full speed in good weather for 5.5 hours? or half speed all day and 6 hours at night
seems like a no brainer!!
very nice
what does it cost? i buy two of them.

Musics depressing way to sell A yacht guys
Ok, let's see the layout, tour and price....?
Yes, less jungle music, more facts PLEASE !
Would be great for inland waterways. You won't be crossing any oceans in that thing.
Beam needs to be less than 5 meters to do french rivers. If it was 4.5m I’d consider it.
Looks great... Design one that is more blue water capable though!
I agree!
Says on their website that it actually is blue water capable.
The bow is sinking! How is that blue water capable? Love the design though, i give that to them.
If only it was wind powered, do they make boats that use the wind to move?
No, only this gorgeous example of a solar array!
Yes, I believe they're called sails, but you know that.
really want to get your boat but no tour, and I dont get it. You need to make people actually want to buy your product
Good music
Thank you!
How about range during day and night time?
Nice i want one
Looks like a box, it doesn't look like a boat anymore.
