  • This is a full ride from the 96th street trailhead to the northern end of the Monon Trail in Sheridan, Indiana. This is one of those must do trails. We rode our recumbent trikes as usual and ended up with 38 miles this day. You can extend your mileage easily to around 50, if you ride South from 96th street toward downtown Indy and back. There are some nice places to eat in Carmel. That area is the most upscale section of the trail also.

1:00 "...going out of town may be alright..." Yes, for what it's worth, the Monon Trail is not dead-level. It slopes very slightly, but perceptibly, from north(higher) to south (lower), on average. You departed from the 96th street trailhead, going north (up-grade), you will have the wind in your face, but a mostly downhill run on your return trip. I hope you enjoyed your trip.

I love riding the Monon. I have recorded so many hours riding this and the Vandalia Trail. When you talk about people not speaking, it is true. However you have to look at it in a different view. Many people don't speak because it is a "mind your business" attitude. People from the South don't understand it, but people from Big Cities, this is typical.

Nice video. I love that trail. It's funny you mentioned people not speaking. That annoys the hell out of me. I'm happy to know it's not just me who notices. I live in Ohio and the people are the same here, as if they wake up pissed off every morning. Lol!!

Wow! Another one! Sweet! Isn't Carmel that town that has the most round abouts in the US instead of traffic lights?

There are quite a few round abouts. This will likely be the last video for a while. Depends on the outcome of some medical issues.

Yes it has claimed that. I lived in the area for years before all the roundabouts were put in. The Monon is one of my favorite trails to ride and walk

On average, we drive anywhere between 2 to 3 hours for a lot of these rides. Having a trail nearby is a great asset.
