Shooting is shooting, yes. I would advocate that students get the type of training they are looking for by researching the company/instructor. If they want to be a competition shooter, find a competition shooter who teaches classes. If they’re looking for self-defense, find someone who does that. It’s not about one being better than the other. I have taken purely skill-based classes from great instructors who would never use the tactics I’ve learned from self-defense based instructors and vice versa. It’s all about assessing the individual’s needs.
