Such a beautiful country. We have vacationed in Switzerland, Austria and Germany each year for the past 60 years. It was much closer when we lived in UK for 30 years but now that we live in San Francisco, California, it involves long arduous flights and many inconveniences. But the reward of beautiful landscapes, history, and great food, wine, beer and of course ladies more than compensates for our suffering the agonies of world travel these days. I am so in love with Germany that I married a German beauty who I met on the Ski Slopes of Engelberg 53 happy years ago. Thanks so much for this fantastic and comprehensive video. My dad's favorite was Herren Chiemsee palace. We'd go there every summer on our way touring through Europe. Sometimes we'd go clockwise (from La Rochelle, France), other times counter-clockwise. What a great way to see the continent!!
I went to a couple of these on a school trip to Germany back in 2014, and Neuschwanstein was by far one of the coolest and most beautiful place I've ever been. You look up at this amazing ginormous castle, and then you turn around and see one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. If you've never been to Bavaria it should be on your bucket list.
Among our favorite memories are visits to Hohenzollern while living in Germany a half hour north. And the day we visited Lichtenstein castle, we were greeted by a flock of black birds circling the castle, like something out of a fairy tale illustration. The valley between the Alb and Black Forest is among the most beautiful countryside we have ever seen.

Sadly, nearly all of Germany was destroyed after WW2. Cities like Nuremberg, Berlin, Dresden and even Munich or Stuttgart got nearly completly destroyed. I mean it's just the punishment for doing such horrible things in WW2 but it makes me as a german very sad. Those cities will never have the same charm as they got before WW2.. So as a tourist I rather would visit France or Italy ;D
As a Dutchman living on the German border i find foreigners(meaning non-Germans) like and talk more about Germany (pre ww2) History then Germans themselves. which is sad because it's so much more than Adolf and his gang.
What a wonderful travelogue, stunning scenery and castles, with fascinating history thrown in. I imagine the castle shots were made by drones, with excellent videography and flights. Many thanks, I really enjoyed it.
I‘m German and I can say that many, many cities in Germany have castles. I live in a city with the population of 70,000 and we have a big castle right in the heart of our city. I also love the areas in German cities where you can find these old wonderful buildings and houses, we call it "Altstadt", which means old city (but it‘s not a city just an area)
Germany is probably one of the most beautiful countries in the world. How they built back after the two world wars (mainly WWII) is amazing. And yes, I realize the allies had a big part in that rebuild also. I have been several times from 1980 to 2011 and each time there was always so much more to see. A very good friend taught kindergarten on an army base for 13 years back in the 80’s to early ‘90’s and I was fortunate to visit her several times and travel during the summer with her. Would love to go back one last time to see some of what we missed.
very little was rebuild. most large cities are ugly as fuck thanks to the bombing of civilians in ww2 by the allies and also thanks to the modernist architects who then moved in and ruined whats left of those cities. that's why there is a saying in german. first came the bombers and then the city destroyers.
Germany wasn't exactly rebuild after the war. At least not all of it. The important buildings were rebuilt but all the regular houses, some of them also very, very old, were mostly replaced by cheaper buildings if they were too damaged. Some cities really tried to rebuild as much as possible but lacked the financial possibilities. And in eastern germany the soviets treated the german buildings like trash. They even blew up parts of an important castle to film a movie. Germany will never look like it used to look. Back then they hadn't the money and today nobody cares anymore. And well, the allies partly helped. Not in rebuilding but in supporting germany economically and caring for the people after the war. But the motivation was very different. The USA wanted a shield against the soviets, the french and british actually wouldn't have helped at all if it wasn't for the USA. Especially the hurt pride of the french would have ended in a disaster if others wouldn't have watched them. The help of the soviets can't really called help. They put people into concentration camps, even germans that had nothing to do with the nazis. They brutally raped the population, killed hundreds of thousands during the occupation, enforced their ideology on them and also used them as a shield against the west. Eastern germany had a really hard time.
