@Christopher walcott Niiice... just seeing these vids. I worked this terminal as a yard stack clerk from back in the days (93-98) when we used radio commands to straddle operators and rode bicycles around the terminal...radio chatter, old century safety standards and old Valmets were hazardous to life and murder on the ear drums. Left to study and went back there 2004-2010 as a stevedore then planner....terminal was better digitalized and upgraded...by 3rd world standards. Many friends, many memories; good and bad. These side- cab Sisu/ Kalmar straddle carriers aren't very common, we've got these at 3-high at my workplace in Helsinki, Finland. As far as I know there are only a handful of operators using side cab, most are center- cab. We have a few 2-high shuttle strads with center cabs, and I certainly prefer the side-cab configuration.
That straddle shakes and rattles like a kalmar. What are you driving? I drive Kelmar, Leibherr and Noell and and Kelmar by far my favorite as I feel I have full control and stearing lighter. The tip alarm in 4 high Noell does my head in lol
