Hello my little apples!! Welcome back to another vid. It's going to be a long one so please take a seat, get some snacks and enjoy! make sure to like this video (it really helps a sista out and takes 0.5 seconds to do) and subscribe if you are diggin the content. love you all!!
Your dad going with you to make sure it’s safe is so cute and genuine! I’m glad you enjoyed your time and are willing to help others go as well. I always feel like going to other countries is incredible because you learn so much and it truly does humble you realizing not everyone is as blessed as we are. Yet they make the best out of it! 🤗
As you dwell into your practice, you may start questioning Who are the lucky ones? Basically it depends more on the internal world, not so much on the external.
Wow, you did our job easy, what an explanation about cost, travel, food and all other minute information in the video. Best Work every !! Thank you again for highlighting your experience at RVYS.
I follow you and Mary for years now. And yesterday I just paid for my own 200 hour yoga teacher training at that school in January.. I am already looking so forward to it! Thank you Amanda
"Its never too late, unless you're 66" LOL love it xD THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE and for being so raw and honest. We could be robbed/kidnapped/raped/hurt in any country and for people to demonize travelling to India is so unfair. It is one of the most beautiful and warm places in the world. Yes, it may have its flaws, but every country does! Much love...
I AM SO PROUD OF YOU for actually going to the ends of the earth to learn the practice of yoga. GOOD FOR YOU And something you will always have in your heart
I can imagine anybody feeling nervous before traveling abroad solo, let alone teach something! But I am certain this experience was irreplaceably fulfilling. It seems like a magical trip and I’m inspired to do something similar but in Thailand or Japan!
girl thank you so much for this video! I really really want to go to this school specifically, and I'm totally gonna show my parents this video so all their questions are answered!
Loz - do it!!! I started yoga in my 40's and am now 55 and love yoga so much! So good for you & will help improve strength, flexibility & your outlook on life and yourself! It is never too late to start yoga and there are many free classes online (Yoga with Adrienne on UA-cam is great for beginners but there are lots of other great teachers on here too).
Thanks so much, babe. You are glowing after this training. Sounds magical. I'm between two YTT options right now: this one and another. I'm really thankful for your perspective. I know this YTT is traditional, but is there room for exploring or being creative in your practice or teachings? That's one of the things that is important to me in a training. I really would love to go to the yoga capital of the world. So beautiful and I love the spiritual aspects.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I practiced ashtanga from 2006 to 2011... I stopped in 2012 to have a baby, went vegan in 2017. Lost a lot of weight... All of that back story just to say, April 2018, I bound for the first time in marychasana A.... I practiced for many years with people who could bind on the first day... It taught me to turn my focus inward and not look at anyone else... Follow your breath, engage your bandas and breathe :-)
Thank you so much for this video. I am travelling to Rishikesh myself end of this year for 200h Yoga Teacher Training. I am familiar with the Asia, as I lived and worked in Thailand for nearly 2y ( I am aware India is quite different) but I wasn't sure if i am physically and mentally ready to do the training. Thank you so much for sharing that will to learn yoga and open mind count. :) Good luck with everything, I am sure you are an amazing yoga teacher :) 💓💓🙌
I watched your video yesterday and I’m so glad it pop up on UA-cam,so many yoga school not sure which one should I pick, but I’m glad you share a little about that.
Power goes out everywhere in India. Totally normal year round. Glad you had a good experience and that you are respectful of the people and culture there.
This video is extremely informative and I would definitely like to do this in the next few years. You answered a lot of the questions and concerns that I had. PS, your dad going to make sure you were safe is the sweetest thing!
So inspirational! I’m also the youngest of 4 children. Lol I’m going to India next year to learn about vegan food, animal rehabilitation, and sustainable clothing. Hopefully next time, it’ll be for yoga!! I’d love to get together to talk more about India ♥️
Wow...this is EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you so much for sharing the info! This video is so thoughtful and helpful, all of the nitty gritty details are extremely helpful!!!! Thank you!!!! Namaste 🙏
Ive been interested in traveling opportunities that aren't just me going somewhere else exploring on my own and I've been practicing yoga on and off for a few years now so I was really intrigued when you started posting about your time at yoga teacher training. Thank you for this video, I learned a lot!! can't wait to watch the next one!!
I am an Indian and this video even helped me in understanding everything about Rishikesh training. Thanks Amanda . I think i now know what to bring to Rishikesh as its one of the developing cities of india which still has these electricity issues etc. for mosquitoes , the best option would be a mosquito net bc it will protect you 100% when you sleep. I hope next time you will enjoy your visit more
I was so excited for this video and it was so nice and helpful to hear your experiences. You're literally so glowing from the inside since you came back and it seems like your mind found so much peace.✨ Thank you so much for sharing Amanda, for me you're such an example for how much positivty, wisdom and love can be spread through social media 🙏❤️
thank you so much amanda, thanks for all the work you put in this video providing all the information about the yoga training! you've inspired me immensely to someday maybe do the same. you are glowing :D
I just received my 200 hr where I live in Northern California, I received a scholarship from the owner of a studio I maintain the front desk at, and it was magical. This definitely however intrigues me and makes me want to obtain my 500 ytt at this school in India. I wonder though if I would be capable of the advanced 300 or 500 ytt there just because in my training here we didn't focus on ashtanga or vinyassa at all. Anyways thanks for the share
Hey love!! so awesome to hear you loved your teaching course. I'm not sure, it would be best to email them (tell them I sent you :) ) to ask. I know that the 300 program they have builds off of the Ashtanga primary series into the Intermediate series so it might not be ideal for you since you didn't do ashtanga or vinyasa. Just ask to double check!
Great video Amanda! I want to go to yoga school so bad. I've been practicing for about two years and I've decided that it's something that I would like to learn more about. I'm also interested in traveling abroad as it is something I've never done before. It's good to know that traveling to India isn't a terrible experience and that you had a great time at the school.
Water from river Ganga is holy water. You store it fir years and it will not smell at all. Indians pray river Ganga or Mother Ganga, bring water home in bottles for rituals / pooja. It’s pure coming down from Himalayan mountain. Regarding protein, plants are best source of protein. You do not need any powder, just be organic and connect to nature like your ancestors. India is heaven for Veg lovers.
Wearing a tanktop anywhere in India is definitely NOT ok. Just because most of the tourists do it and some of the locals in touristy locations have even resigned and pretend to accept this disrespectful behaviour doesn't make it acceptable. You are one of the very few who have given thought to this, and for this I applaud you, and even if you decided to wear a tanktop anyway (which by the way makes you naked in the eyes of the locals) I think you are one step ahead of 99% of western tourists. I had a young and modern thinking friend from India visit me in Germany and he was totally surprised that most people here are married or live in long-term partnerships. As absurd as it sounds, for him it made totally sense, that people who run around naked should have multiple partners. This is the image created by the scantily clad tourists in India (and Indonesia and many other countries) .
I also studied yoga teacher course 200 hours at the same school in October 2018. I loved it too! But not everything was perfect: sometimes electricity was off, not always hot water available (due to it is India and it's up on the mountain). But the atmosphere was family-like and very friendly!! And I loved the teaching, practicing classes with all the guys, food and schedule. Amazing time!

Amanda, as someone who does bodybuilding to keep myself in shape and toned, how do I go about preparing for the yoga course since I’d have no access to a gym nearby or anything. I’ve spent so much time building my glutes and I’m worried they’re gonna go away once I begin my 200hr yttc. I tend to gain weight real quick if I don’t do my workouts or follow my meal plan. Any tips or advices?
glutes come and go... what is more important to you? yoga to me was such a transformative experience that transcended my bodily image. i guess it depends on what you want to spend your life focusing on
Yaa you might just have to get creative. You can do a lot with rice, water and concrete! Haha maybe you'll have to go crossfit style, but as Amanda said..maybe that's a sacrifice you can consider short term. You can always work on your glutes when you come back. You'll be doing lots of yoga in the heat and eating vegitarian/vegan so your weight should stay balanced. As far as I see, the program is about a month long so while you may lose a little glutes, if you're a body builder they shouldn't just disappear in such a short time.
Same here , grew my glutes a lot with weight lifting . But my school offers vegan diet as an alternative. We are allowed to eat out if we want . Did you end up doing it? How did you retain your muscles as much as possible?
I love everything you do! I am in a similar spot in life and was just wondering if you work any sort of part time job or how you have the money to afford to travel and get the yoga license while going to college & getting your B.S? So happy for you!
Hey Amanda! I am going to Rishikesh vinyasa yoga school this October for 200 hour yoga teacher training. I’m super stoked! But I am a bit worried about my way of getting to the school.. I am flying into New Delhi and then getting a ride arranged by the school from the airport to the school. It is the 6-8 hour ride that I remember you mentioning in one of your UA-cam videos. Do you think I will be safe getting this ride from the school? Thank you! 💖🙏🏻
I have a question about your airplane ticket from Rishikesh to Jolly grant, did you book your plane ticket while you are in 🇺🇸 or you book it in Delhi airport?
Thank you for your great information and its really coming out deep from your hart. I am 55 now and practising for about 6 years and even teach sometimes for my collegues at work. I love it, but i wanna now so much more about breathing technique and teaching to others etc. I only have about 2 to 3 weeks and wanna take a 100 hours course teacher training. You have any suggestions....Anyweek i am searching on bookyoga. Thanks u have a beautiful hart how u speak about everything.....applause for ur dad. U come from a beautiful family :) LOve and greetings from Holland.
They have a 100 hour course that's 2 weeks that seems perfect for you ❤️ If you've never done a teacher training I think it would be perfect for you since you're already 6 years deep

Thank you for sharing your experience with the world….going there soon 😊
Hi. Did you go to India to get your yoga training done yet? Because I am going to this year. Is it good? The school has the bus can pick up in Delhi?😅
I am Indian living in Canada. I can bet India is most affordable country.

a lady that takes care of her protein needs is a total spiritual turn on for me
This was really informative. I have two questions though:
1. Did everyone have to teach a class or partial class at the end?
2. Can you explain the instagram story of all of you chugging water and the purpose of that?
I still have to watch your other videos on the topic so sorry if those were addressed.
This was so informative! Thank you so much
Nicely explained 😊.... Basically i.m from Rishikesh, India
Thanks for your video.
Yoga has become a fad in America, and that's so sad. We need more yoga teachers that learn from places abroad. I'm glad you went.
The cost of the school was less expensive than my $1700 training in So Cali. The class size was 400+ and could not get the time or attention needed. $1500 was worth every penny.
agreed!!!
I so love seeing this video of a trip to a foreign country from a vegan standpoint.
You're so inspirational love
I really enjoyed your video! It was so informative and really influenced my decision to go to India for yoga school. It was meant to be that I come across your video! Whats your advice on the visa? Do you get it before the trip or when you get to India?
you have to get a visa before you arrive to india :)
wish I watched this earlier.. I was supposed to go to Rishikesh in Sept 2018, had it all booked, paid for and ready to go (even down to the connecting busses) but 2 weeks before, I saw a video on rape culture and India horror stories which caused me to freak out and cancel... regret it so much...

great one, thank you very much :)
amanda, thank you so much for sharing all of this! I already booked a ytt in rishikesh and I’m curious... what did you pack? any advice? thank you 🤗
What a great dad!
he definitely is!
Hi! I will be going to this training in November. What time of year did you visit? How is the weather ? Thank you!
Thank you for a really helpful video! I am thinking of going in in July, how was it going in Monsoon season? X

Rishikesh its tourist place. Delhi Mumbai not the same.. a lot of bad people.. i lived in Chennai, its also good place
Happy for you
That’s honestly so beautiful that your dad did that.
can you do this to learn yoga? Or just to teach. I’m a beginner. Thanks!
Absolutely!! There were beginners when i went who just wanted to learn more about yoga and also experience the “retreat” getaway
Where did you get your tattoo? Do you have a flight suggestion from new delhi to rishikesh?
Thanks so much for sharing xo
thank you for this very informative video ♥

I am flying into New Delhi and then getting a ride arranged by the school from the airport to the school. It is the 6-8 hour ride that I remember you mentioning in one of your UA-cam videos. U mentioned u got your tattoo in India. Was the tattoo place clean and sanitized? Would u recommend it?
Thank you for this informative video! Can't find you on instagram. Are you still on there?
I must go
Hey Amanda! Can you tell me how to sign up? I emailed the yoga school because I wasn’t seeing anything on the website for registration. Thank you!
They will get back to you in the email!
