Wow this is interesting to see, a cycles and endless mashup it sounds so cool, i love the sprites, like how Lord X is holding Majin Sonic, just reminds me of the Week 5 of the original game, love the music it sounds so cool
I see it as a new design, distinct from both the original mod and the Boss Rush version. But I will concede that yeah it is more similar to the Boss Rush design then the 2.0 Sonic.exe mod.

Majin is just the Sonic Version of the designer of Sega known as Masato Nishimura but he was more known as Majin/Mazin. At the 2.0, the devs decided to make him creepy cause at Japanese, Majin means Demon, so they did it.
I love that both of their aesthetics kind of bled into eachother. Lord X is more cartoonish and restrained with his less pronounced chin and lack of immediate body horror, almost like he'd actually fit into a Sonic game if it weren't for the blood. Majin meanwhile looks more ghastly and distressing, with his wide smile now being just a stripped-bare skull grin and his limbs being unnaturally thin compared to X's. Also I am curious as hell as to what the hand bush is saying on that sign.
I wonder how Majin and Lord X felt when they first met, Was it a "Well this is interesting" moment or was it more of them both thinking "What in the living hell is that!"

Lord X must have an outstanding grip to hold Majin like that. Usually, when carrying someone with one hand (which is a superhuman feat all on its own.) You'd support them under their rear, somewhat under the thighs. But, the fact that X is just gripping Majin by the back (with his thumb presumably not being used as extra grip) just stuns me.
Majin isn't even being supported by X's knee or being held with his entire arm around him. X is holding Majin using only the grip from his hand around Majin's torso
